I could have just sprayed a hose on it for a while to see if it was waterproof, but I thought no - I have to show the viewers the bag in some proper rain. I hope it was worth it!

I might sound a bit mad to have a bag for every occasion, but the fact is that it is ready to go. I have a landscape photography bag - all the filters, spirit level, lenses, batteries are all in there ready to go.

Ah, not too dissimilar then. I like the Saigon bags for smaller lighter set ups - although Velcro lids are no good for discreet situations! I am told that the K&F is very similar to a Wandrd kickstarter product, but I have not had that in my hands to compare. How is the PGYtech?

I like simple Camera Bags and Camera Rucksacks, one opening, very good protecting foam, lots of velcro in the bottom and on the sides to adjust the inner room, as few pockets and "gimmicks" as possible.

It sounds like you would get on with an over the shoulder Crumpler or a messenger style bag. It is what I tend to use when i head out with a long lens and I am shooting handheld.

Ive cut down to 3 bags at the moment but having a wife who is a prolific shoe collector, I know I won’t get grief if I expand my bag collection. Might have been a better option to have a small zipped compartment accessed from the lower back area similar to Shimoda but on a smaller scale as the rest of it looked good Ben.

Jim, I have a solution, you are allowed more camera bags and when you are not using them your wife can store her shoes in them. Win win.

Hi Ben, I have 2 camera bags so far and I'm currently looking for a larger one, something in the region of a 45ltr to carry more than just camera gear. So no, it's not an addiction, it's a necessity :D

I actually won a Manhattan Portage Street Photography backpack,it has a camera cube and a full length zip up the side, two front pockets and a place for a tablet or laptop on the inside back. My issue with it is I had my XT3 with 18-55 f/2.8-4 and my 35mm f2 wr, a thin mid weight waterproof jacket and a few small bits and bobs and it’s just so uncomfortable. The straps are awful and for $129 or $139 (can’t quite remember) there’s no chance I would buy one, I’m actually looking at selling it as it just won’t get used. I sold my old Manfrotto one as I have a smaller Lowepro one I’m im sorry I did. I obviously won’t be selling it for anywhere near its retail price, it may get good money in New York but not in Manchester 🤣 I’ve looked at that bag and a few others from K&F but like you say, there’s no such thing as the perfect bag
@benharveyphotography3 жыл бұрын
Hi Brian, it sounds like you have had a few experiences with camera bags! I usually start with the gear that I intend on carrying and go from there, although a ‘30 Litre’ bag doesn’t really help visualise how many cameras a lenses it will carry. Most of the bags that I have bought I have purchased from Parks Cameras, as it is a good old fashion store that you can try them on before you buy I am a bit old fashioned, or perhaps a bit too male to return anything! I am pretty happy with all of the bags that I have kept that you see in this video, including the K&F that this video was specifically about. So if you tell me what sort of equipment you would like to hold then I could give my recommendations.

@@benharveyphotography I have a decent bag at the minute as I changed from Canon to Fuji last year, had no choice but to buy a new camera as by backpack, with 3 spare lenses in slid down an embankment into a river, followed by myself with my Canon 1300d and G7X. Not a deep river at this point but deep enough to submerge everything and due to where I was I couldn’t get out as I have mobility issues to the point I’m registered disabled, thankfully a family was passing and the kind gentleman got me out. Managed to retrieve all my gear and after being examined by the insurance company they paid out straight away, I think saving the gear even though it was knackered helped as they knew I wasn’t trying it on. P.S. I bought my XT-3 from Park though I’m not happy with it, think I rushed into it, great for my Street but don’t seem to get on with it when it comes to wider landscapes. More practice would probably help but if I could afford to I’d change it today. I will be after another backpack at some point once I get more gear, the one I have is ok but again, not for a day out shooting landscapes as there’s no room for anything other than camera gear really

Anyone who prides himself being a “serious” photographer has this problem. I was going to say him or herself in the last sentence, but I think women have more common sense than us, and therefore don’t suffer from this “affliction”. I have downgraded to one body and two lenses mostly, and I still have about 4 or 5 bags. And I also haven’t found the perfect bag.
@benharveyphotography3 жыл бұрын
I think that even if I personally designed from the ground up a ‘perfect camera bag’ for me, I would want to change it next year because I have a different setup or I no longer need a punch for a wallet because I just use Apple Pay etc etc. It’s a moving target isn’t it. But we can get close to perfection.
