Congratulations! This’s legendary Cannondale frame geometry, they have it for all disciplines and even in aluminium frame. As everything it has pluses and cons. Plus is that because of a tall frame it’s very responsive to your pedal strokes, and it’s very fast. Minus is in the control department on technical stages. I think you will be fine with 42T while 40T might slightly wouldn’t have been enough.

Thanks! I'm already lacking in the technical control department, so the bike will fit me perfectly haha 😂

You were right to go for it and treat yourself, grabbing the opportunity to buy this gorgeous bike which is going to bring you so much joy and well being. About removing sticker residue, I find that a bit of cooking oil works really well. Start rubbing with your fingers and nails, then fnish with some paper towel steady scrubbing. It has always worked for me, usually with a bit of olive oil !

Nice bike, I've always wanted a Cannondale I sold my road bike and went one bike with my 2023 Ibis Hakka MX, very much like that EVO CX except with much larger tires stock built for 1X Monstercross (MX). Such a great do it all bike that I had to sell my Cervelo because the Hakka was the same weight even with the gravel tires! I like 2X for pure road efficiency, but anything offroad where I'm getting mud and dust in the front crank and derailleur I prefer 1X. It's just a simpler setup that satisfies my urban fixed gear 1X1 mindset.

That bike was very high on my list, but got a better deal with this Cannondale with the close out sale

You asked about tires for gravel riding. I'm using Panaracer GravelKing SK+. They're tubeless. I rode them 58km this morning. Thanks for the kudos. I really appreciate their grip, their durability, and their low rolling resistance. Which is not to say they're suitable for CX. My GravelKings will need to be replaced soon. I want to go knobbier, thinking CX tires, but hard to find tubeless CX tires in Thailand. I will see what Vittoria offers here.

As far as tubeless tips. Cleaning and taping is 85% of the battle. Make sure the rim is clean, mostly at the bead shoulders. Lay a smooth tape job. Depending on the tape, it may be stretch activated so make sure its taught. Use a smooth tire lever to press it down in the bead shoulders if needed. Dont throw away the hard strip. People incorrectly always say to remove it, but its important as it helps fill the center well so your tape doesnt get pulled down there (and away from the shoulder where it needs to be) when you are pulling tight. Don't do that mess people do with gorilla tape. Yes it can work. But it also absorbs sealant. And it leaves horrible glue gunk you will play hell to clean out when you retape before next season. Also you will be surprised how many bike shops don't know what theyre doing with tubeless. I've heard mechanics say tape only needs to be wide enough to fill the spoke line. No, it needs to seal the shoulder at the tire bead. Thats why WTB has specific tape widths for rim width on their products. Had one tell me he gorilla tapes customer rims. No shop should be doing hacks.. If you're having trouble getting a tire to seat, soapy water helps. You can also set them up with tubes and go for a ride around the neighborhood to help break in new tires before setting tubeless. A high flow floor pump is usually enough to seat. But an Airshot tank makes life a million times easier. Only tires I needed it to seat were some American Classics, which are low quality so it was half expected (they also all leaked due to defects at the rubber application sites). Muck-off valves suck. Avoid them. They clog constantly. Stan's valves arent fancy but they always work. Dont clog. Orange seal is everyone's favorite for a reason. (Silca is overrated and only beneficial for road bikes). I've never had any performance difference with WTB, Stan's, or Muc-off tape. Stan's is probably the easiest to apply though. A cheap sealant syringe makes life easier. Seat tire, remove core, inject sealant through valve, inflate (this is why Silca sealant is overrated, it will clog the valve if you try to inject it).

Wow, thanks for sharing all of your insight! Installing tubeless will be a first for me, so I appreciate the tip!

Great bike and really glad to see you getting back into racing and looking forward to race videos and damn boy, won your first race! Outstanding!. Your wife was doing pretty good in Japan as well so maybe she'll get back into it. I assume the new bike is carbon fiber. I have 4 carbon fiber bikes. 3 old and one a bit newer. Had an aluminum frame Cannondale many years ago and it was a rough ride. Still have the stripped frame hanging in the garage. Still prefer double chain rings for road anyway. I like more gears. Also not a fan of all the cables routed through the frame. I like to be able to easily work on and maintain all the components.

Thanks! I think Thuong will also race cyclocross and maybe some gravel when she comes here
@Thomas_Ekstrom2 ай бұрын
I run 1 X on my cyclocross now (40 tooth in the front and 11/36 cassette), it works well. My next will probably have 46/33T tooth in the front for running more gravel in offseason. I run tubeless for training but for racing always glued tubulars.

Yeah, 1x seems like it will work good for cross, but definitely want the extra gears for gravel.

I've been trying to find a good starting road bike and the super six is out of my price range, but could the super six evo cx make a good road bike still? With different tires of course
@TwoWheelCruiseАй бұрын
Yes, it definitely could work as a solid road bike. You just would need to put either a larger chainring or double on for better gear range.
@bexilford2Ай бұрын
The cannondale supersix evo se would be more suitable bike for you since it is already geared for road condition. You might need to change tyres to go faster. The only disadvantage is that if you want a second set of wheels you might need to take it lo local bike shop to redish.
@TwoWheelCruiseАй бұрын
@@bexilford2 Yeah, SE is better stock setup for road, but it's the same frame and the CX version is way cheaper right now.
