Nice to see young people enjoying cassette culture! Underground cassette culture is super cool. I’ve been self-releasing cassettes for a few years now and I like to leave them in thrift shops for people to discover amongst the other gems.

Im 17 and I collect 80s cassettes .... from personal experience I would recommend NOT to buy any new cassette players .... it’s better to go to the thrift store and get a good old cassette deck (Sony, Pioneer, Onkyo) and enjoy the best sound quality ... CASSETTES CAN SOUND AMAZING ... if you’re looking for a very good cassette player for a cheap price, megabass and great sound quality , I recommend the Sony FS220 or FS420! They are waterproof , and have amazing sound quality ❤️

At 8:55 that's a colored leader. (The leader is the clear tape at the beginning and end of the recording.) Just take up the slack with a Bic pen, pencil, or your finger, and it'll be fine to play. (See Techmoan's video "Compact Cassette Tape Winders" if you haven't already.)

Some of my theories regarding why records are popular again and why cassettes may be making a comeback are because consumers need something tactile to hold in their hands and one can't get that kind of satisfaction from merely streaming or downloading albums. Plus, records and cassettes look animated as they move around on a turntable or as the spools move around on a deck or in a portable unit which is fascinating to watch and both formats offer warmer analogue sound compared to digital sound.

I have cassettes from a bunch of artists but i have mostly of the groups y'know, like Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC, Westlife, Boyzone, NKOTB, Spice Girls, etc.. And also Kylie Minogue, Debbie Gibson, Mariah Carey, Céline Dion, Britney Spears and countless others! Listening to cassettes using the walkman just feels different to listening to music through Spotify or other streaming platforms. Glad to find someone who shares the same interest nowadays!

9:00 One tip I have is when first inserting a cassette into a deck or portable unit, press REWIND for a second to make sure the deck takes up any slack to prevent tape from potentially being chewed up. Technically, one shouldn't have to do that as others have shown, but I found it helped in my experience. However, if a deck is prone to chewing up and stretching tapes, it'll have to be repaired (new belts perhaps or new or renewed rubber pinch rollers, etc.).
@TorontoJon3 жыл бұрын
10:25 With those Tape 1 and Tape 2 inputs, since you only have one cassette deck (a dual cassette deck, but still just one unit), you can use Tape 2 to connect something else like a reel-to-reel deck, a DVD player or Blu-ray player, etc. Connecting a DVD or Blu-ray player will allow you to enjoy movies with better sound quality through your stereo system. You can do the same thing if you have an AUX (auxiliary) input and even use it to connect your cell phone headphone output or the sound output of a laptop or iPad, etc. :)

Ooooo. On SrcVinyl they are always coming out with modern cassette's, check out their site. They also just re-released all blink 182's stuff. They even have My chemical romance and a day to remember. They said they are releasing lots more. Also if you ever open one and its loose, stick your finger in either of the holes and turn until its tightened back up. Hahaha. xD Geez that sounds bad. I have a modern 2019 sony boombox, and you put in a music cd and then the cassette. Hit record and it all goes straight to the cassette. So i literally have all my old Myspace Era Pop-punk/Emo/Screamo/90's Alternative on their own cassette tapes. You print out the album art small and stick it in the case and it looks great. If you want to see just how good the humble cassette can really sound get hold of a home deck with Dolby S noise reduction. Dolby S was a simplified consumer version of Dolby SR that was developed to improve the sound quality of movies and reduced or virtually eliminated noise. Dolby S is also compatible with Dolby B so could be played back on older decks and still sound fine, whereas Dolby C wasn't and if you played a Dolby C recorded cassette on a Dolby B equipped deck it could sound pretty poor. Unfortunately Dolby S came too late to save the humble cassette. If you record from something like a CD or high bitrate digital file onto a metal tape, in a high quality Dolby S cassette deck the sound quality when played back is fantastic, in fact you'd be very hard pushed to tell the difference between the tape and a CD because Dolby S reduces the tape hiss by so much it's almost inaudible. Good quality Chrome cassettes can produce results almost as good too, and even standard Type 1 cassettes can sound excellent with Dolby S, with tape his massively reduced (although still there a little in quieter passages of music). There were even a few pre recorded Dolby S releases although they were usually labelled as Dolby SR for some reason. Unfortunately Dolby Laboratories no longer license Dolby Noise Reduction to home tape deck manufacturers and certainly not to the cassette duplicators either, which is why you wont find the Dolby logo on modern cassettes.
@kingcrab7502 жыл бұрын
Dolby S is a nice to have but not required to have good sound quality. Many vintage top of the line decks don't have it and sound much better than the ones with Dolby S.

There is a new technology called photonic engaver recorder. It functions much like the RECORD CUTTER ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Production_of_phonograph_records ) making master stampers for vinyl records but this time it is a laser that is mounted on a vibrating quartz crystal that converts sounds into vibrations that in turn uses the vibrations to move the laser to form a laser printed or activated mixed-in inorganic dye within the tape to form the optical grooves similar to the grooves in a vinyl record. Once recorded it automatically stabilizes the laser printed grooves instantaneously and permanently. The process is essentially a WORM PHOTONIC LASER PRINTED PHOTOSENSITVE SELF-DEVELOPING RECORDING PLASTIC TAPE very much like the same process of Polaroid's Instamatic Self-Developing Picture Photographic Cameras which were the rage of the early to mid-1970s and are still being manufactured in some countries in small factories as opposed to what the internet news is saying that it is not being manufacture anymore but small mini-factories that uses full automation and robotization are still making it in some parts of Japan. But because their products are advertised only by word of mouth, you will have to look hard for it in Japan. Several people are making history to mass produce the mass production machineries as a full-set manufacturing set up which is scalable and not only for the mass production of Polaroid instamatic self-develoing photographic cameras and self-developing movie frame film video-audio cameras. But also of photonic cassette recorders which is inherently a WORM audio tape cassette recorder, once laser printed, then it cannot be recorded over or cannot be deleted. But one thing is for sure, with the use of new inorganic mineral based photosensitive materials and newly developed and improved polymers and geopolymers, the audio cassette tape and video-audio cassette tape will make a come back. It will be a very hard work but the technology is already proven and is being mass produced on a very small scale for the local domestic Japanese market because of it's inherent WORM analog feature that makes them immune from EMP and from CME. And the new optical fiber technologies of the 1980s can help in improving the SELF-FOCUSING ANALOG TECHNOLOGY of the late 1980s to the early 1990s to be on a par with VCR camera technologies. In fact, the microdot technology of WW II is making a comeback also with the help of the new Polaroid instamatic self-develoing photographic cameras and self-developing movie frame film video-audio camera technology as a way to copy and preserve microdot known as micro-microfilm copied and recorded pages. The new SELF-FOCUSING ANALOG TECHNOLOGY made practical by the early 1980s optical fiber technologies can help greatly improve the archiving technology of the microdot technology inorder to make it easily interfaceable with computers as the new COM technology to auto-save all computer e-mails, files, documents, pictures, photographs, video-audio in a frame film photonic format, etc. Welcome to the new era where old technologies are coming to the rescue of new technologies because of the new technologies inherent vulnerabilties.
