As a son, grandson, nephew and cousin of well meaning, totally honest and truthful Baptist Pastors, I came to realize that Catholic Church tradition and doctrines are deeply grounded in the Bible, much more than I imagined. @@wendymitchell8245 thank you Wendy for your concerns. I appreciate your sincerity. For most of us who left Protestantism for Catholicism we were educated and well informed under the Charles Stanleys and Paul Washers and their views on salvation. Most of us converts didn’t leave Protestantism easily but through much study, prayer, sacrifice and hunger for truth. We didn’t leave Jesus behind. He is the center of our faith. Our journeys through Protestantism was not in vain. But until one knows the fullness of the faith in Catholicism then it’s difficult to understand the meaning of “coming home” to a non catholic. @tony1685 I did 10 years of research of Catholicism after the Holy Spirit led me to it and out of Protestantism. The Bible is a Catholic book, The Catholic church compiled it with the help of the Holy Spirit but you Protestants would even have a Bible if it wasn't for the Catholic church councils deciding which books would make up the Bible. Before the Reformation, the early Christians were either Catholic or Orthodox, no Protestants existed. So who is really being deceived? Do your own research instead of listening to what your pastors tell you or what you here everyone else tells you about Catholicism. Here is some proof of my research. THE TRUTH ABOUT THE CATHOLIC CHURCH: 1. The Catholic Church canonized the Bible. Determined the 46 OT books and 27 NT books. Catholic monks copy the Bible by hand to preserve and protect it. 2. The Catholic Church gave us the Gregorian calendar w/c we all use today. 3. The Catholic Church gave us the date for Easter. 4. The Catholic Church gave us the date for Christmas which means Christ-Mass 5. The remains of all of the Apostles and Gospel writers are in Catholic Churches Some relics are divided between Catholic Churches. St. Peter is in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. St. Paul is in St. Paul's Church in Rome. St. Matthew is in the Cathedral of St. Matthew in Messina, Sicily. St. James the Greater is in St. James Church in Compostela Spain. St. James the Less (the Just) is in the Basilica of the Holy Apostles in Rome. St. Bartholomew is in St. Bartholomew-in-the- island Church in Rome. St. Andrew is in the Cathedral of Amalfi in Italy. St. Philip is in the Church of the Dodici Apostoli in Rome, Basilica of the Holy Apostles. St. Simon is in the Vatican, under the Altar of the Crucifixion. St. Jude is in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. St. Thomas is in the Cathedral of Saint Thomas in Mylapore, India. St. Matthias is in St. Matthews Abbey in Trier Germany, and in St. Mary Major Basilica in Rome. St. John is in the ruins of the Basilica of St.John in Ephesus Turkey. "You are built upon the foundation of the Apostles and Prophets with Jesus Christ Himself as the Chief Corner Stone." Ephesians 2:20. Even though he was not an Apostle, he did write the Gospel of Mark. St. Mark is in St. Mark's Church in Venice, Italy. Even though he was not an Apostle, he did write the Gospel of Luke. St. Luke is in the Basilica of Santa Giustina in Padua, Italy. The first Christian Martyr. Acts 7:60 St. Stephen is in Rome in the Basilica of St.Lawrence Outside the Walls. The first person to arrive at the tomb of the Risen Christ. John 20:1 St. Mary Magdalene is in the Basilica of St.Maximin in Villalata, France. He produced the first Bible containing both Old and New Testaments, the Latin Vulgate. St.Jerome is in St. Mary Major Basilica in Rome. We know from the many authentic Relics that Catholic Church has in its possession. Among them are: 1. The Relic of the True Cross on which Jesus Christ was crucified. John 19:17-18 2. The "INRI" inscription from the True Cross,called "Titulus Crucis". John 19-19 3. The Nails which held Jesus to the cross. John 20:25 4. The Lance Point of Saint Longinus which pierced the side of Jesus. John 19:34 5. The Crown of Thorns and the individual thorns from it. John 19:2 6. The Table used at the Last Supper is in St.John Lateran Basilica in Rome. Matthew 26:20 7. The Scala Santa, the steps which Jesus Christ ascended on His way to meet Pontius Pilate. 8. The Chains of Saint Peter, in the Church of St.Peter in Chains in Rome. Many more......... The total number of Catholics worldwide grew from 1.253 billion in 2013 to 1.378 billion in 2021. members, or one in six of the entire population of the earth, as of February 2000. That is an increase of over 122 million. Bar none, the Catholic Church is the fastest growing Christian Church in the world. All of the over 46,400+++ various Non-Catholic denominations, collectively added, total less* than the Catholic membership. For those detractors of the Catholic Church who say that numbers are irrelevant, they are in effect, saying that Satan is winning souls and that GOD is losing souls. They are saying that more people are convinced by the lie from the father of lies, John 8:44, than they are convinced of the truth of GOD, John 14:6. They have forgotten, or maybe they never knew, that Satan can only do what GOD allows him to do.

Over 100 people in their basement community room all chatting, snacking, etc and being merry as a community. My parish stopped doing their monthly (I know, I know... monthly?!) post-Mass "coffee hour" during the 'vid and haven't started back up. We have a fairly small community room in the rectory that maybe 30 people can stand in where/when they did these coffee hours. I'm going to email some of the fellow KofC guys and maybe start it back up again. Give the ladies a respite unless they want to help. You inspired me.

The Ordinariate of the Chair of St Peter is for Anglicans who have converted to the Catholic Church and whose Vicars have trained in Catholic Theology and then are Ordained by a Catholic Bishop as Priests. Anglicans are only OUTWARDLY catholic. INWARDLY they are protestant because they uphold the Protestant Queen as Supreme Governor of the Church of England which is Anglican. It was only after the Oxford Movement in the 1800s that Anglicanism started. Before that the C of E was rigidly Protestant all the way back to Henry XIII. After the Oxford Movement altars were restored in their stolen catholic churches. They copied the catholic mass and the robes etc. Anglicanism is fake catholicism.

I am truly happy for you finding your way back home! I pray for your continued journey to follow the Christ and his bride, the Catholic Church. God bless you forever! Edit: On the note of the importance of reverance during the holy mass... I couldn't agree more! It's not technically wrong per se, to have these odd instruments or songs during the mass, since the consecration and sacraments remain the same. But for me, personally, I just can't find myself to stay focused on the Holy Eucharist, to show proper reverance and gratitude if there's any music that isn't contemplative in nature playing. It has to do with the universality of our Church, which is understandable and acceptable of course, but it doesn't stop me from feeling jarred and distracted - Which is a great shame, especially for people, as you say yourself, who are interested in converting or haven't experienced the Catholic liturgy before, are exposed to what I would consider out of place during Holy Mass, since it isn't contemplative and doesn't encourage reverance to the most holy sacrifice of the Lord, Jesus Christ. It's especially a shame because I end up avoiding going to my usual parish on the last sunday of the month, since the Africans there (the Church is in the middle of Stockholm, Sweden, so we have people from all over the world there) have the tradition to sing songs and play instruments, like bongo drums, from their home country, which are the opposite of contemplative nor encouraging reverance. The Church should be a window into heaven, to inspire and prepare us for an enternity with our Father, in heaven. Case in point: If I wanted energetic music and drums then I'd go to a club or a festival.

Hi, I just finished your video. Interesting. What you mentioned at the end about catholics needing to learn about their faith. It's so true. Many of us don't read the Bible, don't get catechized,dont pray daily and easily believe false teachings, like christian yoga. The fact that you understand the concept of papal infallibility and the full presence of Christ in the Eucharist already makes you better than most Catholics in terms of understanding the faith! I admit it's pretty sad. The problem of reverence at mass is an issue. I personally never attended a church where they had secular instruments but I've heard it's more and more common. I believe it comes from the fact that many modernist priests try their hardest to include the world into the liturgy, even if the Scriptures teach the opposite. You can't be of Christ and of the world at the same time. Also, the younger parents let their kids do all kind of things at church which I find amazing. I go the tlm mass and I've seen the craziest things there, like a guy coming in with beach outfit, barefoot, walks up the aisle and go seat at the very front row. I was floored. A lot of Catholics don't realize how they disrespect Christ in the tabernacle. I think it also comes from the fact a lot of Catholics don't believe in the presence of Christ in the Eucharist, sadly.

Most R.C.'S DO NOT KNOW THEIR HISTORY .It has, from the time of Augustine BEEN TEACHING WE ONLY ARE RIGHT AND ANY OTHERS ARE HERETICS .The truth was the opposite . They came under the influence of the Emperors .1.Constantine who came from Britain but was a sun worshiper .He made the first day of the week a day of rest in honour of the sun god. Then built the first St .Peter's. He was like most Emperors interested in the unity of the Empire and used religion .The worst was Theodosius who corrupted the R.C. church by making it the only religion and threatening any who would not join .This meant the church was overrun by Pagan hypocrites. You can see the laws of Theodosius on line. The true believer as well as the heretics were all then called heretics and persecuted for centuries. The Inquisition went on for 600 years .torturing and killing any who were not R.C. THE ALBIGENSEES who did not agree with the changes in R.C. doctrine were killed .As were the Waldensians mentioned from the 12th to 17th cent. who were hunted down and almost wiped out . The proof that the church knows this is in the presence of the Pope at one of their restored churches in north Italy .This was on Y.tube about 4 yrs ago when he asked forgiveness for the Roman church.

You mentioned College Station so I assume you are a TAMU Aggie and you went to St. Mary's. My son is an Aggie and attended there as well as the church in Bryan. I'm so happy you had that experience. My story is much like yours as I grew up in the Presbyterian faith as well. I was fortunate to marry a Catholic but it was 25 years before I became Catholic myself. Our children were raised in the Catholic faith and over many years and continually attending Mass with my family that I finally became Catholic myself.

Beautiful story! And gracefully told! Thanks so much for sharing!! I know somebody who followed almost exactly the same path you did. (Minus boyfriends ☺) I really like the fact that you were open to what your relationships had to bring to your life and welcomed the new or the different, and you were willing to explore - while at the same time taking personal responsibility for your decisions and making it a path of your own, rather than either resisting or just following somebody else. And you made that gracefully clear, not in an egotistical, "I am my own boss" kind of way, but with humility and the ultimate appeal to conscience and to where you, as an individual human being, stood before God. This is the true spirit of freedom. It is freedom and communion going hand in hand. One question for you, that might be worth pondering over, perhaps for doing another video with your thoughts: You mentioned that protestants are very good about the community aspect of the faith. And this may be so - I don't know. On the other hand, you mentioned something about conflict or divisions and maybe personality tensions or whatever it was that ended your family's participation in that community. To what extent, do you think, could these two be related? Could it be that the emphasis on the social/communal dimension creates unrealistic expectations in people and when these are disappointed the inevitable result is to leave the community? If this is so, could Catholics possibly be better off the way they are, focusing on the sacramental action of the Church instead of the socialization component of the Christian life? I would welcome your thoughts. Finally a small correction in terminology: Somewhere around 2:10-2:20, you are saying that the three denominations you were part of were Presbyterian, Anglican and Catholic. While protestants have denominations, the Catholic Church is NOT a denomination, and we should not be referring to Her as such. She is the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church, founded by Christ and She has always maintained that, while denominations are man-made institutions that come and go and ultimately reflect the personal opinion of their founder, be that a monk (Luther), a lawyer (Calvin), a king (Henry VIII), a housewife (Aimee McPherson - Foursquare Gospel) or whatever, some of them probably well-meaning people, seeking the truth in their own way. Welcome to the Church and may God bless you on your journey!

RCIA is great! In my experience (as a gen Y'er), I've found that RCIA Catholics tend to be the most sincere because they came to the faith from their own choosing. I had a friend when I was in grad school who went RCIA when he started college and was about a Jr. in college when we met at CCM and was already a Third Degree Knight. (In reference, my Dad is the most quietly devout Catholic person I know, has been a Knight for like 20 plus years, and is perfectly fine with staying at the First Degree level.) I believe I once joked with my friend, "Dude. You're like 20 and you out rank my Dad!" I also asked him jokingly if he had a sword and he said in all seriousness, "You don't get a sword until your Fourth Degree." Your story is lovely. Welcome!

Really interesting video. Thanks for sharing! Your story reminds me a lot of my own. I grew up Presbyterian, kind of fell out with the church (was never confirmed). I recently discovered Anglo-Catholicism (High Anglican), and am really enjoying it compared to Presbyterianism (especially the liturgy, and I feel I am learning so much I didn't know), but I am wondering if I should make the final plunge into Roman Catholicism. I do have a slight doubt about whether or not Anglicanism is valid like Catholicism. One of the things holding me back is I am worried I will be disappoitned in the modern Catholic liturgy compared to the one Anglo-Catholics have. But I suppose that is a minor point! Did you come to prefer the Novus Ordo mass to Anglo-Catholic, or do you attend traditional Latin mass?
@kvin949 Жыл бұрын
Not much Latin in Catholic masses now. Some masses in outlier spots. But one of the great things (apart from the eucharist of course) is in the Missal...every mass, everywhere in the world at the same time, covered over a three year timeframe, with liturgy that links the old and new testament in a way that makes sense.

I am very happy for you, Grace. But one question was lingering in my mind as you narrated your journey from one denomination to another and finally to the Catholic Church, whether you would continue your journey to another denomination. I pray that you may remain firm in your Catholic faith. My strong conviction is that there is nothing like the Catholic faith which is wholesome, holistic and comprehensive, most logical, reasonable and fully based on reason and revelation. As Catholics we can be bad people but our Church founded by Jesus will endure for ever.

Excellent conversion story. I left the Catholic Church soon after turning 18 years old because I guess that’s what 18-year-olds do when they’re given their independence lol. Leaving the Catholic Church may have seemed fun at the time, but it led me into some very corrupt habits. Decades later, I decided to get back into Christianity, but this time I wanted to find the real church - one that followed the teachings like the earliest Christians would have been. But much to my surprise after lots of reading and research I ended up going back to the Catholic Church- lol. Surprise surprise. I’m very lucky because there is a church nearby that does a Latin mass on Sundays, which I attend every week.. and two or three times a week I go to a NO daily mass at the church closest to my house; But I have to avoid the Sunday mass at this church, because the music is terrible. I would go to the Latin mass further down the road every day if I could but it’s just too much of a drive for me, so I just go once a week and I make it on Sunday because of the massive reverence of the TLM.

In some areas there is a Anglican Ordinate which retains much of the Anglican tradition but is part of the Catholic Church. You might also try and attend a Traditional Latin Mass if they have any where you live. In the high Masses, especially on a holy day like Christmas or Easter there’s incense. Hope you can find a more reverent Mass though. The Church does need to be more friendly. I’m a cradle Catholic and in the 50s there was a lot of that but not so much now.

I'm so glad you have a traditional Mass in your area! Many American and European parishes (and honestly probably all over the world) have taken liberties with the Mass that they ought not do. In my opinion, everybody ought to be able to attend the Mass in any country and be greeted with a familiar order of things and songs. (I do not necessarily think the entire Mass should only be said in Latin, but this does help with the internationality of things)

I totally agree with you on Catholics needing to work on that sense of community. Although, having said that, the Catholic Church in NYC is very thriving with community so I’m glad I have found that here. I think the reason the Presbyterian churches are better with that aspect is perhaps because they have to promote their individual denominations to keep them going as there’s tens of thousands of individual denominations that they’re trying to keep alive. Also, they have that evangelical spirit, in general, that us Catholics could use a healthy infusion of : )

Protestant church squabbles are the norm. And most are mere social clubs with little inner conviction of dogma. With those with strong conviction it it is more about loyalty to parental influence etc. Let this young lady worship where ever, Christ is found in all of God's creation. He is IN all THROUGH all and ABOVE all and holds everything together by His power (Colossians). In midlife I came to Protestantism but by reading my Bible I let go of literal fundamentalism. Today I embrace where ever Christ's truths of faith hope and above all LOVE is revealed. ❤️

God commanded us (Christians) to TEST each SPIRIT to whether they are from God (1 John 4:1)... This means we need to TEST without compromising the Biblical Truth of all Christian Denomination... Based on my own TEST-STUDY,... So far, Protestant and Evangelical CHURCHES have the HIGHEST ERRORS in Biblical Interpretation, teachings, and doctrines. I found out that any founded Christian CHURCHES that are closer/nearer to the 1st - 2nd Century A.D., the First 7 Christian Churches (mostly Judeo Christian convert than Gentiles) of Asia Minor (presently Turkey), are most likely to have LESSER ERRORS, in terms of interpretation, doctrines, and teachings... because of the Church Forefathers/Elders (Direct Disciples of the Apostles) that were still alive in those days to guide the early Christian Churches growing around Asia Minor... 2 Thessalonians 2:15/paraphrased... "Therefore Brethren, stand/hold fast (strong grip), to the TRADITION, that we (Apostles/Disciples) have taught you, whether by WORDS (Oral/Verbal Traditions) or by our EPISTLES (written Letters)... The Apostles clearly stated and instructed that we (Christians) must not only rely SOLELY on the Written Scriptures (Bible) but must RELY also on Verbal/Oral Tradition (Unwritten Scriptures)... like Holy Sacraments, Liturgical Mass Celebration and Procession using Incense, candles, unleavened bread, grape wine, holy water, Baptism of the Whole Household including children and infant, etc... which means that the 1st-2nd Cent. A.D. had practiced these UNWRITTEN TRADITIONS, that were carried on to our present day... Acts 16:33 /1 Corinthians 7:14 ... Entire Household Water Baptism including children and infants...which means as long as the Parents are Baptized, their children and infants can also be baptized... this is one example of Unwritten Tradition of the first 7 churches of Asia Minor. In Conclusion: BIBLE ALONE (Sola Scriptura) is a WRONG doctrine from the Protestant and Evangelical Churches, including FAITH ALONE and OSAS (One Saved, Always Saved) Doctrines of the Born Again Churches... Facts and Truth, Biblically speaking... Amen.
