Yep! The deliberate opposite of the traditional “holy” vows of silence 😂 For anyone unfamiliar - taking a vow of silence for the sake of spiritual contemplation is a thing in the Catholic Church. Folks in religious orders, or even lay people on catholic retreats, often observe a temporary vow of silence. Also, there are still some consistently silent or cloistered religious orders though they are dwindling nowadays.

Wonderful! If you want to comfort your mum: in the book, the surplus baby is mentioned again, and he is indeed adopted and has tropical fish, so all good there :D

After two episodes I asked my (very Catholic) mam what did she think and she goes "well it was funny, but I'm not quite sure what's going on". She is 83 though so I guess that's fair.

You do know that the surplus baby was actually secretly adopted and grew up happy and normal, winning prizes for his tropical fish? It's all in the book - and very reassuring it is! His name is Greesy Johnson (if that his how his name is spelled, I've only listened to the audiobook). Anyway, you can tell your mum the reassuring news!

It's actually Greasy Johnson and it was just his nickname:) Pretty sure he had a gang like the Them and his friends were the Johnsonites.

there are also some theories that he'll be christ reborn (dunno what it's called, idk the bible lore sorry) in s3, due to the whole st beryl situation and because he's sort of.. adam's counterpart? i doubt that they'll actually become canon but it's still cool to think about!! :3

Fun fact in the book Crowley is the one who brings the dove back to life. Aziraphale had to do it here because Crowley was on the other side of the car and it would have made the blocking too complicated

If I recall, Aziraphale is also the one who’s all We Should Murder That Baby. TV Zira is much softer than book Zira. Nobody even seems to think he’s a mob boss!

RE: 1:13 - in the novel, it becomes clear that the surplus baby was adopted out, and ended up being the Them's main antagonist/bully.

This was great. Good Omens does a lot with names being more than just names. The nuns, Anathema. It's a fun little layer added into the storytelling.

2:23 and 3:01 always upset me a little because in the book, it's aziraphale who suggests killing warlock and crowley who miracles the dove back to life. they changed the dove bit because of blocking issues but I still have no clue why they made crowley the one to suggest killing the antichrist. anthony "jyou can't kill kids" crowley. i feel like the book has always made it a little more clear just how morally grey the two really are, and it's sorta disappointing how much the show woobifies aziraphale. also I love your mom oh my god

ah i haven't read the book yet, so i didn't know that, but that's super interesting. I do think the bit about Crowley suggesting killing warlock is more of him seeing if he can tempt Aziraphale into doing it, i don't think Crowley would have actually been down to kill him. but idk that's just my opinion
