My CB350 Build Continues Part 1

It's my first go at this - first build. I'm having a good time with it.
For the record, the bike isn't a show bike by any stretch (I'm not that talented anyway) so it isn't perfect. I don't want it to be anyway. I USE it pretty well every single day and I'd like to keep it that way.
There are marks, dings, pits, scrapes etc. all over the place and the bike even leaks oil. I'm OK with that - for now. I'm sure once I'm totally done the build, all will eventually be addressed but, for now, I'm running the hell out of it. It's a fun little bike! Originally I was going to make it a full blown cafe racer but changed my mind (obviously) and it's going more towards a cafe/brat/rat mix I guess. A little of everything. I don't know.......it's getting all the things that appeal to me. That's all that really matters anyway right? :-)
After looking at the video again, I laughed to myself as I said ".....the bike in a nutshell...." more than once. Clearly that is NOT "the bike in a nutshell", since, if it were, the video would be far shorter. hahahaha My apologies.

Sorry, for the delay. The only advice I have and, it is the only rule really, but, take your time. That's it. Find the angle/length you like. Mark it out with some tape and a Sharpie. Walk away for a bit. Adjust it if you've changed your mind. Once you're sure you'll be happy, put a cutting wheel on a grinder and cut BELOW the sharpie mark. Work your way up to the line with a grinding wheel. Level it with a file. Dremel tool all the little sharp edges off. File and smooth again. Just go slow.

Thanks! I appreciate the kind words! Would love to check out you 360. Include a link if you've got something on-line. As far as the bars go, they really aren't as bad as they look. For real. Wrists are about the most sore after really long rides but not reall bad. Clubman bars are only slightly higher. Drag bars would be pretty rad too. I just love all these old bikes coming back out and seeing what people do to them. I love all the different ideas people have. They all look great! Cheers!

the red dot in the Honda logo is a nice touch, nice build. I'm about to sell my first car and buy my first bike, I think I'll be looking for one of these. CB400 and above have to many ugly pipes

Take your time (I can't stress that enough) as you can bring it back :-) It's pretty easy really. Just work slowly. Another piece of advice I'd like to suggest is, when you're marking your fender, be sure the bike is level (not on the side-stand) so that it will help you visualize your final result. It's hard to visualize and mark "level" when your bike is leaning over. Cheers and good luck! It's worth it. p.s. Thanks for the kind words!

Would love some tips on how to buy a decent one,what to buy to upgrade and BUDGET ! How much did it cost ...and what to expect after..with the "tuning"! I really digging your bike man.. Im working on a 360 and like the "kinda cafe" look on these. Those clip ons look like a tourcher rack for my back though, do clubman bars sit higher? Ill probably go with some drag bars. Thanks for the post.

Did you remove the paint from those side covers and then polish them? kind if a newb question but I just bought a cb same year that I plan doing the same thing to.

Did you get those rims powdercoated and if so, were the spokes removed first? How did you remove the chrome?

Where did you get the shocks and how did you lower the front and by how much?

Beautiful bike. I recently purchased a 74 350f. I took the top end off to replace gaskets and seals and when putting the camshaft cover back on discovered that the cover will not sit flush. Upon tighting, the engine locks up and will not turn over with the kickstart. With the cover off, everything sits nicely and the engine turns fine. Is this a rocker situation I've created or is there is basic step in resetting the camshaft or rocker ams that I've missed? Thank you in advance.

I know I'm late to the party, but what baffles did you install into those shorties? it sounds nothing like all the other bikes with shorty pipes. It sounds like stock mufflers on my cl350. Give up the secret!

Hi @surlycrosscheck1, I'm new to my 72 cb350. and would like to do about the same as your front and rear fender mods. what brace did you get for where the front fender used to be? and what rear fender did you get?

Thanks. I talk specifically about the front brace in the video. The brace is the actual brace you find under the stock front fender. Grind the rivets off, remove the fender and you're golden. Rear fender was also discussed in the comments. I marked it up with tape where I wanted it to be. Took a grinder, cut and shaped it how I wanted it. Powder coat.....done. Cheers. Have fun.
