...cool little project...I like the "extras" you put into this...👍 I have only made two so far (newbie) and except for pen blanks, I've only used branches from tree trimmings or hurricanes...😨 As such, I don't "repair" holes or cracks...my second birdhouse has a split down the body and it gives it some character...however, using the large inclusion on this birdhouse was brilliant!...thanks...🥂 Matt

I am currently making a batch of about 15 birdhouse ornaments. And it is always fun to use wood that is imperfect and has voids and splits and bark conclusions. Nothing wrong with that. Thanks for your comment Sam.

Well done Sam. Excellent proportions. Excellent color. Excellent wood selection. I also think hollowing might be in order to lighten it up a bit. Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂

Excellent video. Just curious, why didn't you hollow the ornament and/or roof? It seems to me it would be a bit heavy given the Mesquite burl house.

Thanks, great project. I’m in Columbus, right down the road from you. I use nearly all FOG wood but would like to stretch out to some kiln dried. You use some interesting woods. Do you have a local source? Thanks

We have a member of our club who has been an arborist for years and provided Wood to the club so we have a good Supply and I have collected Wood over the years so I have lots of wood. Sometimes when you’re in Billings, you should drop by my shop and visit I’ll give you a tour thanks, Sam

Nice project Sam. I made a shellac brush like yours and the alcohol dissolved the glue and caused the bristles to fall out. What kind of brush do you use. Thanks
@WYOMINGWOODTURNER2 ай бұрын
Andy Sorry this happened to you. The brush I have in my shellac is an artist brush. I’m not sure if there’s anything special about it. I got it at Hobby lobby. I’ve never had that happen to me. You might find another brush and leave it in some denatured alcohol And see what happens at least then it won’t contaminate your shellac. Not sure what else to recommend again sorry about this. Sam
