Best way to start a monk is get to town, buy bow and quiver. Lightning shot and lightning rod til you beat the dude in the mists and get first spirit.

Honestly if you played with the monks melee for a little bit it would have gone better. When you drop that bell and start hammering it, it destroys bosses. Im cruising through the game, and campaign is pretty easy p z as you pick up life regen. It is however substantially more easy if you get pillar of the caged god and do stat stacking. You can finish normal campaign with 2k+ life with no life on gear.

I decided to play as a monk after 100 hours into my sorceress (endgame just ain't it). And it's so much more fun to play. You have better survivability, and the mix between ranged and melee attacks feels so nice.

That one person was right though. Stop spam rolling. Only way you should be rolling that often is if you have the perk where you have more evasion if you've rolled in the last four seconds. You do nothing but spam roll and then complain about how hard it is...stop rolling around panicking. Learn fights and move sets and learn which direction to roll. You died to a destructible totem in mist king. Like that's an easy fix if you you're supposed to destroy them.
