If you've never played you can always make a deck of proxies and play at your local game store to try it out. The ones I've been to are fine with 'em as long as they're sleeved. Plus, you get to try out new decks for a lot cheaper before collecting the cards.

I remember when this set came out. I probably pulled a bunch of these fetch lands including one of them in foil. At the time I was young and didn't understand the importance of the rare lands and traded them away. The most expensive card in the set was exalted angel because it was played in a standard deck based around astral slide and lighting rift. Man I miss those days of MTG. This video is super nostalgic for me.

i remember a friend of mine who no longer plays magic, hasnt played in probably 20 years at this point. But i KNOW he and I were together, opening packs of onslaught for 3 dollars (tax included) and he hit a foil fetch and was SO disappointed that his rare foil hit was a land. they weren't anything special before shock lands came out! it's crazy dude, good memories for sure. I have my non-foil wooded foothills that was opened way back then.

@@mindful_clip Vintage foils do curl over time, after extended exposure to heat and moisture. But yeah, the ones these days are curled right out of the box. It's the cheapening at large for certain.

Walking home one day with my YuGiOh deck in my bag, I had an urge, a drive, a desire to just give it all up and play Magic instead. I went into my LGS and traded my tournament deck for a bunch of MTG cards, including a booster box of Onslaught (cuz i loved tearing packs) It will always be the most iconic and important set to me, and I even recall the first rare from the first pack I ever opened. Silvos, Rogue Elemental Onslaught and Mirrodin blocks started my love of magic.

Foils in older packs are always in the back and if one of your 11 commons or 3 uncommons is missing you know you have a foil. When it's a rare it's always a surprise! Your welcome. P.S. been cracking packs since 1994!

Onslaught is when I went in with Goblins. It was soo much fun.. The red/white Astral slide deck was sick. elf decks. black has patriarchs bidding to bring back goblins or any creature type. Onslaught is underrated.

4 fetches in a single box is pretty solid considered back then. I've only seen 1 god box with my own eyes having 6 fetches. Of the 10 boxes i cracked back then, only 1 has the same hit as the streaming. Good old days...

I didn’t even know MTG existed till 2014. In 2002, I was in the army getting pissed, getting laid and playing Warhammer 40K. Didn’t play MTG till I got married and settled down. Innistrad was the first set I played, and in my first booster I pulled a foil Liliana of the Veil, but I didn’t realise what I had and played her in my deck until someone told me I had a £300 card in my deck, unsleeved.

Unplayable garbage. In vintage you are dealing with decks filled with power, mana cheating free interaction, 10+ mana T2, etc. maybe if you modify it for pioneer or standard or pauper it might be ok.

@@Verse28 what about this one. if it DOES pop off it leaves my opponent with 0 permanents in play. 4 army ants 4 dwarven miner 4 violent ultimatum 4 casualties of war 4 helldozer 4 steelbane hydra 4 overgrown battlement 4 axebane guardian 4 wall of roots i love army ants it turns all my lands into a strip mine. locking my opponent to the ground. on turn 4 i can potentially cast violent ultimatum or casualties of war and then lock my opponent to the ground from then on. thats so satisfying card to play.

In onslaught you can have a rare foil AND a rare in one pack. Hit these once back in the days. And i think i remember there is only one rare foil per box.
