I’m a recovering addict and one thing that I have really observed in my own life is that I need a sense of purpose. I had a relapse about 5 years ago and one of the biggest issues I was experiencing was a lack of purpose. I do agree that relationships do also play a large role, I’ve never felt so alone as I did in active addiction.

​@@AstroInterceptor I believe in genetic mutations within a family of animals but I have yet to see evidence of tree shrews becoming primates to then become us (Edit: I just looked this up again and the science changed on the tree shrews, who would've guessed), I've never seen the creation of male and female out of a naturally created protocell and I've never seen how all of the microbiological materials that go into living things would've been created through evolution (How did evolution create the flagellum?). I don't believe everything just popped into existence, I just believe the whole universe is connected in a way we can't fully comprehend and that the reason we're here and have conscious abilities in the first place is because the law of conscious that is inherently built into it our universe willed us into being. I believe in a mix between creation and intergenus mutation but not full out evolution. Maybe if I see a mud puddle create protein lipids and form a cell then watch that cell multiply into, say a worm, then watch that worm split in 2 and mate with itself to then give birth to a worm with wings or amphibious traits I'll believe it but it hasn't happened yet. lol For example, as a Christian I believe everything was made separately as described in the Bible and I don't believe Noah had 2 of every species within every genus of animal on the ark, I believe he had 2 wolves and they eventually mutated into the smush faced pugs we have today through cross breeding. Now, if I see a new family of animal created from an existing one or new species created from a newly created protocell either through natural means or by the works of men, I may be willing to become a full out evolutionist Christian but I'm not ready to put my faith in the theory quite yet, not as most people understand it. ...if we pass the test of creating life from basic elements with simplicity it would not only prove evolution imo, it would hopefully be a wake up call to secular scientists that we're made in the image of God. So I hope it happens tbh. :)
