Thank you for being the first person on the internet to set a typical cost of repair for an older (11 yo) EV. Your bill was similar to the cost of repairs of same age high-dollar European cars that make them really cheap when they get older.

It's funny how people act. I just bought the new cadillac lyriq rwd and love it. Ev is the future, but you know what, I am still old fashion. I love my gas gusserler 80s, 90s, and 2000s, and frankly, even older. I love that stuff and always will, but I can love and / or appreciate the new stuff. The lryiq so far is amazing. I want to ride in a plaid, basically 3 times the power of my cadillac😅 Great video as always

What made you get the lyriq? Did hoovie have any input on that that made you decide? Did you go to a good deal on it? You don't have to answer any questions if they're too specific I apologize how's the fit and finish quality? Just curious I guess on a brand new general motors vehicle nowadays. What kind of MPE are you seeing is that how you say it? Lol

I am very particular when it comes to fit and finish, like panel gaps and ratals. Even if trim, do not line up. In my opinion, the cadillac has very good fit and finish. Everything you touch is solid. The quality was a little surprising granted gm has improved their quality dramadicly. It's like a cadillac should be. Nice, very quiet, and has a very, very good ride. I would say better than the couple of models s cars I drove. Both ride good, just the cadillac rides very smooth ( and the tesla has air suspension and lyriq doesn't). It also has active nosie cansalation in the cabin. Super quiet on the highway. Makes my lexus seem a little noisy. They are running VERY GOOD lease deals now. I got the tech base model, basically no options, just black paint. But at the tech it is a very nice interior. Quality does not change much in higher trims, just like wood and leather and features. Cadillac credits you $1500 for charging station money or to get a plug installed at your home. Soon, gm cars can use tesla superchargers with an attachment. Think of it this way. Cadillac says they are all electric by 2035, so they need this to work they have the other ev models coming out in a bit, so they are pushing for this. They are putting a lot of time into these, and so is chevrolet. The infotainment is amazing, too. All in all, I love it so far. I would recommend talking a look at one of yourself.Window sticker, which says 94 MPGe Highway 82 City combined 88. I don't drive a tone, and I haven't tested the range quiet yet, but at a little less than half a charge, I have 180 miles left.

You're right he made a mistake I wouldn't have fixed it I would have just got rid of it and junked it but he needs to lose money for tax write-off that's why he's doing it. I know my friend he used to own a company in Hollywood before he passed away. anyways he would buy four new cars every year four station wagons this is in the 80s but he would sell them at 1 year and he was selling them real cheap and even the DMV finally told him you're selling them too cheap you got to sell them for more money which I could never understand how they can tell you that you're selling your own car to cheat but go figure. He used to buy four Subaru loyals station wagons always White for $44,000 that was all four for $44,000. That tells you how long ago that was lol the company was named audio rents back in the day.

IF I had the money and my own charging point I would buy a model S. On the other hand, my old 4 banger getse from point a to b for little money so I'm not complaining. Oh, and a new crate engine for my old Corolla was 7k back in 2010 but Toyota paid the bill.

Think you made the right call too! Considering it’s only $3k difference to get more $ back on sale profit for a running and driving car. Which is why idk if you are thinking your only taking a $3k loss off the repairs or the entire paid out amount? Cuz with the $5k u paid now $7k paid out that’s $12k which is still a cheap car for what you’re getting!! So if your selling it for $7k your really taking a $5k loss on overall payout

Luckily, it didn't catch fire while sitting in your garage. Sorry, but I don't want to wait five hours to charge a battery in below freezing temps. EV's are scary, especially if they will be mandated by the government. A failure that cost almost $8000 on a $5000 car is a sting for most people. And you still never know where or when it will burn, running or parked. No thanks.

There’s a whole community based around rebuilding and replacing the drive units on Teslas, especially the ones that are killed by the coolant seal issue. It’s pretty affordable and not that difficult to do it yourself if you have access to a lift. Some guys are even doing it in jackstands although I wouldn’t recommend that. There’s even bypass kits that make the DIY replacements last longer than the dealership replacements, so it’s definitely still a DIY repairable vehicle if you have the equipment and are willing to do the research.

You did the best, new rebuilt drive unit. Yes, the drive unit inverter coolant seal is better than original. $7k wise. And what is your time worth doing that intense labor, without warranty? The battery can also give a loss of isolation code. In that situation, you can get a rebuilt battery. OR, a NEW battery which is BETTER than original. AND you will get more range IF you request, and pay. Did this vehicle have a replacement MCU (center screen)? If not, that too replacement is a great worthwhile upgrade. Did this vehicle have lifetime supercharger access? Many early versions had such. Definitely worthwhile used, even if drive unit/MCU/battey need replacement. You will travel anywhere FREE for the life of the vehicle. Lifetime supercharging is transferrable on some Model S. If that car has Inverter charger problems (under the back seat), i think those are also available rebuilt or replacement, better than original. The major Model S expense? TIRES !

At least with a new part from the dealer you get a warranty wich you don't get if you DIY, and i myself took a chance, i moved to a new city for work instead of driving up and down twice a week, i haven't regretted my decision, best people i have ever worked for, sure it's a small family trucking company but still

My dad’s 2018 Prius with only 112k miles which is hybrid the battery coolant line broke and costed him $5.500 to just have the coolant and line that cooled the battery! Yet the 2010 260k miles my step mom has never had any such high repair bill!! Only difference is this year is air cooled with fans! Much simpler design! But supposedly isn’t strong enough to cool battery..(bull! Cuz it’s 260k CITY miles on the 2010 and battery is original!

Soooo where's the recall? Any other manufacturer would issue a recall or extended warranty for a known, widespread issue like that. Tesla just expects every single owner to sink an extra 7k into their car? That's some real bs

@@AutoAuctionRebuilds that's not bad then. Honda did 10 years unlimited miles for paint and cracked blocks so that's not far off

Did you go into service mode before calling Tesla? I wonder what it would've said about the drive unit and ac compressor.

@AutoAuctionRebuilds 42 минут бұрын
Service mode will not diagnose those issues. It just reads codes. None of the codes were specific to any one part.
