It’s crazy how much resonance/room there is in those drums. But when you pop it in the mix it sounds amazing.

It’s all context. Someone else will hate it. But I dug it in the moment

Love the audioscape buss comp - use it on every mix and some masters too :) Great purchase for any studio and it's got something plugins don't for sure.

I have one on the 2 bus. Nice to hear it on the drums... Never used this on that bus before... May have to give it a shoot out with the 1178 :).

Sure would like to see your impression of the Warm Audio Buscomp. Maybe a shoutout. Same pricepoint.

I've had mine for a few months now and totally agree, really musical and super nice compressor

love audioscape gear. I track through their 1176 and Optocomp all the time

The lesson here kids is if you can’t afford the real SSL G comp or another high end outboard gear, buy Audioscape anything…. Any piece of Audioscape gear will be the best clone you can get. Don’t waste your money on any of the Warm audio trash. You will hate it in a couple of months.

Do you feel the stereo widening on it?

had mine forever. love it. have to work too fast these days to get as much mileage out of it. bx townhouse is a pretty close substitute for me.

@@RecordingStudioLoser i dont think ive ever changed my setting either(slow attack fast release). i just dont have the time to do as much real time bouncing like i used to anymore.
@noahdinsdale2579 ай бұрын
Townhouse was close, but it feels like the Audioscape comp adds more subtle distortion, which might be why it's bringing out the hi-hat more and feeling louder.

There’s a stereo widening that I’m not sure comes through on KZbin that pretty dramatic behind the desk

@@RecordingStudioLoser That was the first thing I noticed when I got mine a couple of years ago. I have mine on the 2bus and the image is what caught my attention first. I did A LOT of A/B with the Townhouse and SSL Buss Comp 2. Those both sound great in their own right, but the widening and slight flattening of the image was a shocking difference. The cliche term 'glue' is definitely appropriate here. The plugins felt like a bell curve: some info on the left and right with this sort of pokey peak in the middle. The G Comp widened everything considerably and tucked the center into the mix better. You don't really notice the 'bell curve' until you have something to compare it to. The G comp started my hybrid journey and now I have it, their Opto Comp, and two 10-space 500 series racks full for tracking and hybrid mixing. Love the channel, keep up the good work!

That’s awesome.😊 but can you try the plug in alliance, townhouse, compressor, and dual mono mode and the UADSSL compressor in dual mono mode? I think you’ll get closer to the sound you’re looking for.

I have a 500 series SSL g comp, but I have an audioscape 76a and a buddy of mine has the g comp. I wish I wouldn’t have spent money on the name brand one. Don’t get me wrong, it sounds great. But the audioscape stuff is SO good.

The only thing I'm not digging (and George Lever made the same argument), is that needle is way too bouncy to feel like it's any degree of reliable?
@RecordingStudioLoser9 ай бұрын
It’s bouncy. But I don’t pay much attention to it. It was actually disconnected for a few weeks. And I got to know the knee. I got the the VU hooked back up and I don’t really pay attention to it.
@danymalsound9 ай бұрын
@@RecordingStudioLoser valid argument... I think it's an artifact of my having not used outboard in like 16 years, so I'm accustomed to the UI versions of VU's lol

Totally ballistics are weird anyway. There is no standard. So I take them with a grain of salt anyway.
