The single piano note with reverb is iconic. Although recently, a youth radio station had a nostalgia quiz (way back Wednesday on triple j) with stuff related to the 90s, 00s and early 10s and they asked the contestants to guess the song. The clue was literally just the singlen piano note and the contestant guessed "Kanye West - runaway". I don't have perfect pitch and nor do the majority of people, so I quickly forgave the contestent lol

I think some of that might be down to him simply skipping all the falsetto bits. Don't get me wrong, the world needs more MCR in all ways possible, but his vocals are far from what they were on the record.

Completely agree! You can tell by his Instagram page that he lost all self confidence when he started gaining weight. Such is the life as a writer and no longer being in the road touring. It looks like he's really got his confidence back and though I don't like linking confidence with personal appearance, unfortunately that's what it is to a lot of people, myself included. I'm glad he now feels comfortable in himself and has the fitness to do an amazing performance. I love this guy ❤️❤️❤️

This isn't disappointing. The best tenors alive sang what worked for concerts. I.e. Subscribing to "___ notes" would kill them depending on the day. If you think a note is what makes a song, you've missed the point. Be thankful this song is being played in 2022.

MCR lyrics saved my life not as a teenager but years later as an adult in a desperate situation. I remembered these songs that brought me such joy and remembered the lyrics, identified with my younger self that struggled at times and was inspired by this amazing music, and I let it re inspire me all over again to be my own hero, draw my sword and defeat the monsters in my life, and I did. I’m so glad. I found MCR as an adult during a desperate situation as well. This became my fight song. It still is. I love this band..my heroes were Lennon, and Roger Waters and Ian Anderson ( Jethro Tull)..and Gerard Way is right there with them. Brilliant. I’m taking my daughter to see them next year..very fortuitous timing..30th and 60th birthdays.

This isn’t done for instrument tuning, it’s because it’s a very difficult song to sing, so to save his voice for the rest of the set G has lowered it

Yeah this has nothing to do with instruments, MCR have several guitars off stage that are in different tunings for this exact reason. (if you check rig run downs of massive bands they will have like 5-6 guitars) Dropping a key is more an accommodation for a singer, usually because they cant get that high, in this case it could be that or its to save G's vocals over a long period of time. My best guess is he cant comfortably hit the highs anymore without damaging his vocals

My niece was the same, she was too young, all the bands she was I to in her teens had all split when she discovered them. She was so excited when she got to finally see Green Day live a couple years ago and had really hoped to go see MCR, but she couldn't get time off work. I can't travel due to my health or I'd have been right there in the front lol.

I've seen them three times and met them twice. I need this closure, so much. My mum passed a little less than a year ago and she would want me to see them one last time. She loved them too. I'm trying so hard to find someone to take my dog for a few days so I can travel across the country to see them one last time. why are there some people complaining about them tuning it down? It is so normal for bands to tune down their songs live to make it easier to sing, or maybe some are just not used to it because they want to hear the iconic G note at the beginning

Anyone who goes to a concert by an older band notices that as lead vocalists age, they can't hit the same notes. I'm not gonig to name names, but I went to a concert by a huge band where the lead vocalist seemingly didn't sing nearly half of the lyrics. So I'm grateful for any vocalist who's ageing and knows their limits, but can still do great even if everything's toned down a bit.
