Maithilee Menezes, MD, a WashU Medicine otolaryngologist at St. Louis Children’s Hospital, sees children with concerning tonsils frequently. But when are tonsils a problem, and if you’ve been told your child has big tonsils, should you worry?
Dr. Menezes says that the answer depends on you and your child. Most of the time, big tonsils are not a problem at all. However, if your child is experiencing any of the following, you might want to speak with their pediatrician:
• snoring
• restless sleep
• sleep apnea
• recurring infections
