100% true but when it comes to love. Love knows no bounds. If u love me no matter if I'm sick, rude, bitchy, post op, pre op, natural etc etc u still love me. It may be a different kinda love. From friends to more or vice versa you but if u love me u will forever love me, support me, & encourage me. You won't need to understand my predilections (cuz what I think some queer folk confuse. Straight folks don't really get being homosexual and I get that cuz it's not ur twist.) Cuz I don't understand why some folks exercise & do steroids to the point of it being dangerous. But if you truly loved me n not ur idea of me all is needed is to understand my heart & humanity. Period. to me that is acceptance. 🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️

@@YourAverageChick Children are far more open minded and understanding than adults would ever be. The people who have a problem with this are the adults, not the child. What a child needs is a loving home to grow up in. With people that want them. Anything outside of that is just other people pushing their expectations of what an adequate parent is. Which is honestly none of your business. Especially given the types of straight cis parents many of y’all have been raised by. Absolute chaos and abandonment issues.

@@Luv2lol123456789kids are not as open minded from birth the way ppl think. If it doesn’t make sense, a child will be the first to call that out unless they are conditioned to just accept anything. My cousin is dating a stud, my son was 2 and asked if she was a boy or girl. Life is very black and white for children. Adults make things confusing and teach kids to accept or not to accept what adults normalize.

I am glad the mother walked out. Karamo was talking as though he knows what is going on between the mother and son when he clearly does not - no one does except them. A mother can disapprove of their child’s lifestyle whether that child is gay or straight. So what was he trying to say? It’s ok for a mother to disapprove of a child’s lifestyle if the child is straight but if the child is gay they have to approve of everything they do. Nonsense.

You used the word lifestyle and that is the part of the problem. His lifestyle (whether gay or straight or any place in between ) is reckless, but most young people do a lot of reckless things because they don’t see consequences. It’s hard to parent a 24 yo. But this is a woman lost custody of her child and had supervised visits. Even Christmas visits were at her parents’ house. (That’s supervision too). Twice a month supervised visits, there is something very wrong with her (according to court standards). I don’t think his sexuality is the issue but there is something going on in the background with her.

I love my children immensely. I would die for them no hesitation but I would struggle with any of them deciding to transition. My love wouldn’t waiver but I would absolutely need time & grace to accept it. The LGBTQ community demands acceptance and they deserve it why can’t heterosexual people be given some grace during their journey of being accepting & understanding

Because WE have given you all enough time. We've had to be in the shadows/closet for decades to allow others who don't understand us comfort and compassion. We have been bullied, threatened, beaten, and sometimes killed for just AUTHENTICALLY daring to live out loud. It's a new day and we dare NOT go back to where we once were. I totally understand allowing people the time to get adapted to someone that's transitioning because it's not a easy transition across the board for the singular individual. However, avoiding it and purposely asking for more time is disrespectful IF you aren't attempting to make the change for the one you say you love. I'm just saying this a personal experience. To hear my mother call me Kameron throughout the holiday made my heart smile. I don't want you to think I'm not coming at you .. I just want you to understand it from the point of view from a black transwoman. I wish we didn't have to do all of this, but unfortunately, that's how it's going to be if we don't allow others to just authentically be themselves.

@@KamTheeKilla I'm sorry but I completely disagree with your assessment. Reason being because when a majority of these people transition back. All of a sudden where's all that BS you just preached about with acceptance. The majority of you look down on everyone else not looking up to ya'll, which is why the majority is always against it. Your community throughout history has had to be humbled and start all over again simply because it does not want to take the time to reflect on anything. The rest of humanity don't got time to wait for ya'll to get it together. Just like ya'll got nothing to say for those who felt they were taken advantage of at a young age by their parents who had them mutlilated or messed up behind their prideful indoctrinations.. But I guarantee you got nothing to say about detransitioner's because your PRIDE consumes you. WHAT SAY YOU?

The son was even defending his mother so I don’t understand why Karamo was so worked up. He was definitely projecting. The mother had every right to be concerned about his choices. Parents of straight kids are also concerned about their choices. Is she not allowed to be concerned because it come across as her being “homophobic”. Karamo doesn’t need to have this type of discussion on his show anymore because clearly it hit close to home for him.

What a way to treat a guest. The son is probably a risk taker and the mom is truly scared for him. Interesting how they breezed over how he picked up a guy, who has now tattooed his name on him and totalled his car. He is one of those who will have to learn the hard way, and the mom can see it and is trying to keep it from happening.

At 24 he thinks he is soooogrown, much MORE grown-up than his 24 years, but he STILL has a lot to learn. She MAY have messed up before, but she's trying NOW. I see Mama bear in her. If you don't consider straight/heterosexuality or non-trans/cis (cisgender) people to be a lifestyle, then you're proving his point. People use the word lifestyle against LGBT to denounce them. And to make it seem like it's a choice. When people talk about the grief of coming out to someone you're close with. They feel their grief is more important than the other person's and that the person wronged them. And even then, they do not realize it takes a lot for a person to come out. There is a lot of inner turmoil within a person, especially if they're a non-white person. So, while you may not consider the word “lifestyle” offensive, know that it carries a negative meaning for the above reasons.

I don’t think the mother was given enough grace. Many parents say and do things they regret. But her daughter acknowledged that she believes her mother loves her but said the hate statement out of anger. Her daughter may be making really risky decisions and the mother is being mother. Her saying “you and your lifestyle,” she had no clue that she was addressing it wrongly as to why she kept repeating (initially). She is trying to grow with her daughter’s identity. The effort and love is there. Let’s give this woman some credit. Food for thought.

If you truly love them how can you walk away you have every right to communicate hey baby I hope you’re okay with me taking time to grieve the you I was thinking you were until you’ve opened up and told me who you wanna be! I’m here for you and won’t treat you any differently but just know if you catch me having a hard day I don’t hate anything you chose I’m just remembering the past a bit so I can move on faster for us! Karamo, in my opinion you could do a better job of managing your bias & be more objective. I felt like you projected your experiences on to the mother in the last portion of the segment. You routinely cut her off, making it impossible for her to communicate her thoughts, feelings & experiences. I felt like you are being slighlty antagonistic & dismissive at times. Personally, I don’t think you did very much to broker or facilitate peace and understanding between this mother and her adult child.

This is a joke…I’m sorry. Karamo is absolutely projecting & putting words in the Moms mouth. When a person says “your lifestyle” she’s speaking about the poor decisions he’s making. And then to say, he won’t allow someone to say he doesn’t know what he’s talking about, Sir, you don’t know EVERYTHING & you have to listen to others openly if you want a productive dialogue. Wanting her son to be safe in his decisions does not mean she has bias about his sexual identity. Like this was brutal to watch because you weren’t accepting the mom’s experience at all. To say she wasn’t there, when she was by LAW not allowed to be there, smh! She did what she cld with what she was given. Not to invalidate how that felt to Luke, but let’s not villainize her for what was out of her control. Don’t allow your support for your community make you blind to other people’s experiences causing you to invalidate their feelings.

Koramo is too biased for me… how he treated Luke’s mom is not how a talk show host behaves, I’ve never seen a host behave that way. He was totally fine when Luke said his mom said she hated him, it wasn’t until she said he was projecting that he flipped out. He was definitely projecting because if he wasn’t he wouldn’t have reacted the way he did. As a host or an interviewer, your main focus is to keep your emotions together and he failed. This was some reality tv “The Real World” mess! He shouldn’t do topics like this if he’s going to be totally biased.

I think Karamo started getting upset because there was some miscommunication when he was trying to “educate” her. She didn’t even get to explain what was bothering her because he immediately assumed it had to be about her son being gay. And I think some parts of that are true. But I think it’s because luke’s lifestyle is unsafe. What was interesting to me is both her and the son think queerness is synonymous with being “out there”.. when that’s not the case. But at the end of the day, I see a mother who is scared of the damage her son may be doing to himself. And I see a son who desperately wants community and a healthy relationship with the people around him. I don’t think either of them really got to speak on their issues cause Karamo was stuck on some of the language being used.

I met a man in college and we became really close. At some point he told me about SA as a child and it left him unable to be physical. Boy did I love him. He treated me so well. We officially dated after college but we did no more than kiss . I realized he’d be the most affectionate around others or at parties etc. It felt very performative and I realized I was a beard. I don’t think he was gay but he like to present an image to others that wasn’t extended to our private interactions. I went on to marry and have a kid. We are still friends but he’s never admitted any of this to me. He’s over 50 now and I pray he finds happiness.

I listened to a couple of shows and totally dislike Karamo. He preach respect but the mom barely has the chance to place a word. So sure letting your son bring a homeless stranger home or showing his a$$ on instagram is totally fine 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️. I'm lesbian so I have nothing against homosexuality and I accepted myself long ago but making the son look like someone who has absolutely no flaws is far from helping. He's just putting gas on the fire. They BOTH need to be heard. I won't listen to him again. He judge a lot when it's not going his way. The mom made mistakes like every parent do and is so wrong for saying that she hated her son but I'm sure that her son is far from an angel. But Karamo is so busy lecturing people that we only had one side of the story...

Actually I think it was appropriate for her to say “you and your lifestyle” because she and her son both talked about his hypersexuality. And if Karamo is implying that hypersexuality is part of being in the LGBTQ+ community, isn’t that a stereotype in itself?

You are aware of what lifestyle means regarding the LGBT community, right? It could be a miscommunication and her failure not to make that connection. It could also be that she was being disrespectful.

Did we watch the same thing? The host acknowledged that and corrected the mom on her word choice. She still couldn't understand why some of those concerns with her son were brought up. The host explained it with her being her word choice. She got defensive because she wasn't ready for that conversation. Let's say this right: You’re telling a friend about all the racial microaggressions you face as a Black female/female-aligned person. And that friend says something that stings you. And it ain't the first time either. You correct her. She does it again. You update her again. She does it. And then you correct her again and end up explaining why, saying that you, let’s say, “you’re not like other Black girls/women hurt.” Your friend’s choice of words may come from a good place, but it's a backhanded comment. The host, or in this case, YOU, informs them why the word is inappropriate. It doesn't matter if your friend meant it with no ill intent that word. That phrase has a negative history tied to it. Referring to it as a lifestyle is degrading. Maybe the person is hypersexual, but your word choice matters here. They're also young, and a lot of young people are. The mom was equating their child’s sexuality to their hypersexuality. You know how you can sense when Betty is being microaggressive towards you. That's how the host can feel it because he's been on both sides, and he's picking up on her word choice and letting her know why this can affect your son. Accepting him or not, the Mom still has a long way to go.
