"Mildly ... mildly ..." and I was prompting "terrifying" every time. But it fell *away* from you, which suggests it's not resisting restoration very hard. So glad to see you gaining confidence as you spend more time delving into the SM's inner parts. Talking of entrails, when you first revealed the plumbing under the bonnet, I realised with a startling intensity why manufacturers are adopting digital controls and electric motors for power steering. Onwards and inwards.

Nice work,, coolant is a good sign,, Ok as for the steering rack, iv been watching CITROTHELLO rebulbing SM's and DS's and he appears to have a bolt on rack alignment tool for reassembly and it looks like it might be needed, so i would mark it up before disassembly just encase bud. So glad after all this time you are doing the SM,, when i was a in my 20s me and my mates would drive our CX's through to Edinburgh from Glasgow To outside the duchess of Monaco house, where her Black SM would sit, Park along side and stare in wonder.. 27:08 Oddly enough, I was watching an episode of the BBC 'Maigret' series with Rupert Davies in last night ("The Wedding Guest") and it was a rare occasion where Maigret turns up in a DS rather than his usual Traction Avant. The thing I noticed most about the DS was indeed, how much it dived when it stopped. Then paused.... and then righted itself. As an aside, how are Dumpit and Skit?

You Citroen SM is responsible easy to strip down a bit of penetrative oil and the nuts and bolts come undone easily which actually cuts down on the dismantling time and l like the way with the dismantling of your SM you have an agenda and once you remove the radiator which was an easy removal you moved onto something else and 2 months time you will have the engine out and the more dismantling you do the easier removing other parts it gets easier
