Hi dear Bob ! How is life for you? Thank you for filming this, & of course its a favorite since you were treated so warmly & the setting lends perfectly to a rich vibrant conversation . Little boats decorated thoughtfully, almost all older finely sculpted, with grain so beautiful, calm me. If I needed psychiatric therapy, and could select the location..for certain a classic boats saloon would be oh so right🎈

I had an Itchen Ferry built in 1904 that I bought to try and restore unfortunately I ran out of money and ended up giving it to the marina in Hayling near Portsmouth where it was kept as she needed more work than I first realised and was capable of doing, her name was Tani, it's been 15 years since I had her but I still think about her and miss working on her. She had a tiny wood burning stove inside and in winter it made the boat toasty warm and was great for a cup of tea after several hours of rubbing down the hull or painting.

Great video. Loved Don's sense of humour and his lovely boat.. Enjoy seeing classic boats we never see here in Australia. I am currently restoring a 1974 wooden Vertue which I hope will be a classic one day as well. Cheers

Greg Currie where are you based. I have just brought a 1955 friendship sloop that was built in Williamstown Victoria. It will berthed there as well.

Love this video. I had to sell a boat recently and even though she wasn't a true classic, she was a great boat that would have been overlooked by most so I screened the buyers to be certain she went to a good home.

Beautiful boat. Just a quick tip, WD40 is brilliant for cleaning bronze. Just spray it on, leave it for ten minutes and give it a rub with an abrasive pad, Scotch-Brite or equivalent The remaining WD40 also stops it tarnishing for a long time.

Lovely sailboat and interesting history , especially as I lived and grow up near here. But I have always thought the town was called Woolston and the river was called the Itchen .

In the words of Al Green "how can you mend a broken heart?" More to the point how can you part with a wooden boat, that you've had for twenty years? Great vid.

The first machines built by humans were likely sailing vessels. The heritage of wooden sailboats is beautiful

Love old boats they have sole
@stephensmercer7 жыл бұрын
NoSleepVideos 🙂 good one, but even though Buzz Knapp-Fisher may have meant to write soul, he is indeed still correct in writing that old boats have a sole, as do new ones as well. A sole being the nautical term for the "floor" of the cabin.
@Josef_R7 жыл бұрын
stephensmercer So why are you assuming he used the wrong word? It's pretty clear he meant to use the nautical term, given the context. It was a fine play on words and didn't need anyone to "explain" it incorrectly.
