Never heard of these stands before yesterday. These are great with that adjustment. I was pretty much done with climbers and have been saddle hunting. But this is really got me wanting to try it out. So many parts to saddle hunting.

Yeah I’ve been wanting to try a saddle but can’t make myself get one just to try. I like a climber and u can usually find a tree somewhere in the area to climb. This one is great with the adjustments

@jasonskillinngrillin5977 Yeah, I have plenty of choices for climbers here in the Virginia mountains. I was tired of the heavy stands. But now they're 20 pounds or less I think it's reasonable. My saddle, sticks and platform is 22 pounds and it's a lot of parts to come together to get in a tree. This climber you have is sweet. Think I'll write a letter to Santa for this lol

I bought one back in 2004 or 05.? at a hunting expo still use it to this day never had any issues with it. and love the leveling system. added the mesh seat to mine made it lighter and more comfortable..always raved about them to other friends and hunters. surprised you don't see more of them. and the black straps totally lock the stand together makes it very sturdy.

I've owned this stand for about 5 yrs now. Also own a Treewalker XLT, which is another great climbing stand. Having owned the Summit Openshot, Viper, an API, as well as two different model of Ol Man climbers over the past 40 yrs of hunting, I can tell you that having the leveling system adjustability is a game changer. Although the Equalizer is a bit heavy for this 62 yr old body, as I hunt private land I will usually set it up, lock it to the tree with a Python lock, throw some camo burlap over it, and leave it until my next hunt. Thus, I can make my way to my tree, and with the Equalizer already attached to the tree, I can climb, get leveled up and set in less than 10 minutes. Bottom line, I'm telling you boys and girls, this stand is legit. Not a single problem yet. Hope this helps. Great Job Jason. BTW, I'm going to steal your idea for the HSS bow rope.

I have the Cougar Claw climber and like their adjustment system; it is simple and pretty much fail-proof. Also, it is quiet, the seat is very comfortable and can be set facing the tree or facing away from the tree. The ThirdHand stabilizer straps to lock the stand in position after up in the tree and ThirdHand bow holder on the Cougar Claw complete my climber system. I considered the Equalizer back when I decided to get an adjustable climber because I had heard pretty good things about it but landed on Cougar Claw's offering in the end.

I have both the Buckshot and the Viper. They are both great stands with pros and cons. The only real drawback of the Buckshot is the arms are not comfortable at all with the traveling adjuster (sharp edges). They need to make some king of pad the fits over it and still allows for on the fly adjustments. The only other minor issue is if you are not very careful when attaching the cable lock in place it can make a loud metallic clank. Great review.

Hello Jason. You popped on my feed just now and I had a look. I've used my API for decades. However, if I had seen the Buckshot back at the time I prolly would have gotten that one. The steep angle at the bottom on the stand part give me the hives in some trees. What I'm about to ax you isn't a trick question. What's yer plan when you fall out of the thing? I know you use a harness, naturally. Treestand fail, fall into harness....then what? (Hunting alone, no cell service.) I had a plan until this past weekend. My son managed to defeat the safety on my 'get down' idea (Semi-yearly test of equipment) that I have used for....decades. Good thing he did too. I was always subject to a nasty surprise if I ever had to actually use that harness. So... what's the plan in case of a fall? Been looking all over for a Plan B. Think I just about have one...not as elegant as my faulty old system...but good enough.

U know I’ve never really thought about it. I know the basic maneuvers to get with a harness. I’ve never hunted a climber where I didn’t have service. That is deffinatly somthin to think about. No service and just a harness🤔. Maybe carry a lineman’s rope to hook to ur harness. Be a pain tryin to get it together and Deff require some practice but it should work. Most harnesses come with a foot rope u can put ur foot in to take preasure off. Maybe use that get turned around and use ur lineman’s rope. Deff take some practice. Also I always tell Sombody where I’m goin and which area I’m huntin and if I’m not back by a certain time then send the Calvary. Deffinatly a good question

@@jasonskillinngrillin5977 Well, thanks Jason. Like I said I've been using my faulty method which almost works for decades. Prolly been 20 or more years since I checked and still no one has offered a reasonable solution. In Alabama we have had years recently where the ONLY people who died from hunting accidents did so with a tree stand. I have 98% of the time hunted alone with sketchy or no cell service. Yep...the little stand on rope will keep you alive while you wait, but that's about it. If this seems like something fun to explore test test test. Definitely you automatically went to the correct county anyway with the 'lineman's rope', etc. A version of this is all we have. Need the right one. See ya around! Norm

What are the differences between the 21.5 and 24 other than platform dimensions. They are both made from same material but 24 is 50lb heavier rating, why?
@jasonskillinngrillin5977
@jasonskillinngrillin5977 Жыл бұрын
That’s a question for buckshot bc the cable size is the same as the 21.5. Maybe bc the frame is bigger the weight compacity is distributed a lil better. That’s the only thing I can think of bc they are basically the same except the bigger platform and frame size.
