Took the high route passing the old smelt mills which was quite interesting. There is quite a stiff climb up after Blakethwaite Smelt Mill on a zig-zag path, and it was very windy at this particular spot when I was going up too which didn't help. There was an area after that where I was a little unsure of the route as there was not a path where my OS map was trying to send me. However there was a clear path that I could see, which I followed and this eventually led me to the place where I needed to be, which was a large desolate area of flat barren land. For a while the route continued following a wide clear track and the rest of this walk was easy to follow.
In the latter part of the walk beautiful Swaledale came into view again giving some great scenery.
