pretty cold, I rode my coldest last week " -17 F " , in the woods at night, 6 inches of fresh snow in NW PA. w/ Schwalbe Ice Spiker Pros on my 29er....was a great ride although my goggles kept fogging up and my toes got cold after about an hour...happy trails

I ride the same temps often, it always amazes me how the cold grease in hubs and bottom brackets gets stiff and adds to the suffering. Keep it up!

Good to hear that your bike feels slow at those temps. I get pretty bummed starting out at -15c and colder as my bike just refuses to glide at all. I think my coldest start is around -26c.

Always an issue for me as well. I used Salomon insulated hiking boots. It was a 50 minute ride and my toes were very cold the last 10 minutes. The next morning it was just as cold. I used some Gore cycling shoes covers over the same hiking boots. They aren't even insulated shoe covers but the extra layer made a world of difference...

It's supposed to get down to -44 tomorrow night. You are already my hero, but that would be epic. BTW can you talk about lubes? My Pugsley is moaning and groaning and it's just in positive Fahrenheit temps in the Mitten below you.

With the use of salts/chemicals on the roads in winter months how do clean your drivetrain when it is below zero?

I do a horrible job of keeping my drive chain clean in winter. Honestly it doesn't get dirty in the same way as the summer time. But the chain links can get really stiff and rusty really fast. I just try and lube it every day. I use a thin lube that doesn't last very long but seems to keep the chain cleaner. My best advice is don't ride expensive stuff in the winter...

All you people talking about minus 10 and colder the coldest it gets In my country is minus 3 and we moan about that If I was to come out in minus 28 I would freeze on the spot. BIG BIG respect to you all. Be safe 🤘

Probably. I use thin lubes in the winter. They don't last very long but they seem to keep the chain cleaner.
