It can be beaten for awhile, but once you've had it already, and had the treatments that irradiate you and destroy your immune system, the odds of it coming back with a vengeance are massively increased. Hope is one thing but false hope is rampant, people just need to focus on accepting death and enjoying the time they have left.

My dad had no symptoms he worried about except unexplained weight loss. I rolled my eyes and said, “Dad! That should’ve been your first clue!” For our family, weight control is a constant issue. Dad had surgery; it had spread to his liver and it was his wish not to have chemotherapy or radiation treatments. He lived ten more months, we got hospice (absolutely angels all), and good pain control. Dad died peacefully with family at bedside. God bless you and the best of health to you always!

Shame on those doctors for not acting sooner. It shouldn’t be up to the patient to push for anything but unfortunately, often times it turns out to be that way. This is sadly such a common thread through all these stories. Thank you for sharing.

Doctors haven't acted sooner for decades, even before the pandemic. My grandma died of pancreatic cancer and she knew early on that something was wrong and doctors wouldn't listen to her. Seems to be a common theme here in Saskatchewan.

I’m so sorry for your loss of a good young friend. My dad died of colon Ca but he was 74. He had unexplained weight loss which he didn’t address at first but I wish he had (in our family, weight control is a constant battle!) He had surgery, declined chemotherapy and radiation treatments, and lived ten more months with hospice and good pain control. My son’s best friend was diagnosed this year and already has had 2 surgeries, and he’s only 33. God bless you and take good care.

So happy to see you looking so health & bright ….had all the same symptoms for years , used to come in stages ….sickness and diarrhoea, sleeping for hours , constipation, like you sitting on the toilet for hours rocking back and fourth . The latter stages were stomach aches , constipation.I remember attending A& E it was so bad ….I was given antibiotics and it was suggested I may having legionaries disease . During these times I was screened twice for bowel cancer , both came back asking for another sample , both 2nd test were clear …..I had it all along ! . Three years after an operation were a third of my bowel was removed and some chemo …I’m feeling much better , still being scanned , was a time were Scan picked up something in my lungs , they thought it had spread …turns out I picked up a serious lung condition that requires 2yrs antibiotics treatment ….don’t know if I should celebrate or cry lol . As I said , good to see you looking so healthy and well , I wish , your babies and your families all the best …you are amazing Xx Sorry for the poor grammar …chemo Brian lol Xx

Here in Ireland the level of ppl getting bowel cancer in their 30's is ever increasing. There have been countless news stories recently of people in their 30's going to their general docs and being told "oh, it's just IBS", then they discover far too late that they have cancer. It's despicable.

Its not just about age. Don't let doctors medical gaslight you. As a woman, I can see how my husband is treated differently.. I am not a hypochondriac and I don't see a doctor as often as I should. I know my body. Don't let anyone make you feel you are crazy. If you have a doctor like this, find another one. Also, make sure you get your annual check up, especially if its covered by your insurance. If aren't feeling ill, screening my find out you are have a medical issue.

Thank you soo much for sharing your heroic story. What a journey! I am soo proud of you and your positivity. I to was diagnosed with colorectal cancer on the 2st of February of this year and I am still awaiting a surgery date. I thank God that his hands has been holding me up and except for the discomfort of not being able to relieve myself as per normal, i cannot say thar I have been experiencing any excruciating pain as i did in late June to November of 2021. I truly believe that it was milk that saved my life because it was only when i consumed milk that i was reeling with the worse kind of labour pain. And trust me, i know what labour pain is since i have had 8 children. I will tell all those who read our stories to please become firmilar with your body and listen to it when it becomes rebellious if you eat something it does not like. My only question now Is, what foods or drinks should i be eating and drinking before surgery to keep my strength and the same question goes for chemo. Thank you again for your bravery and honesty. God go with you and all those of you who are fighting the good fight. Peace and love my friends. 💞💞

And on 8/16/19 I went to the restroom and alot of blood came out never-ending went to the ER and on the way up there I told my husband I hope its not cancer. Will they tell us its cancer from the ER I went to the 8th floor and was there for almost 3 weeks went home and started chemo in September for 6 months then they told me I had to do other 6 months after chemo I started radiation. And the whole time from day 1 on 8/16/19 till the day I was done with chemo and radiation treatments I not once cry my husband said your not nervous I looked at him and no cause God's got in his hands. Yes I went through so much pain weakness, in March 2, 2021 my last surgery so as of 9/2021 I'm cancer FREE. God bless us all and be safe ❤

When I had cancer and went through treatment I developed some other health problems that I didn’t realize ARE related to cancer/treatment. I developed rosacea, and re-occurring shingles, external shingles and internal shingles (you can have them in your abdomen) I still have both of those issues 12 years later. I also still have discomfort and pain and tissue shrinking because it’s becoming scar tissue due to radiation. YES! Push until you get answers and report ALL your symptoms as they can be related.

I too developed major health problems after extensive treatment for cervical cancer. I now have a permanent ileostomy and am in stage 4 kidney failure due to a reaction to the radiation therapies I've received. It has affected my bones and now I have osteoporosis which has required a hip replacement which unfortunately has virtually crumbled and my hip has dislocated into my pelvis and I'm in a wheelchair awaiting another surgery and because of complications will be around 10 hours duration. I am cancer free ( so far) and it has been 19 years and in that time I average 1 hospital visit per month. Obviously I have been one of the 2℅ who react to treatment but I would encourage anyone about to start treatment to ask about all possible side effects, I think Drs are inclined to mention them but don't go into specifics I would certainly have questioned part of my radiation therapy.

How did you found that you have polyps in the first place? I mean you had some kind of symptoms or just decided to make a prophilactic colonoscopy check-up just like a health care check-up without symptoms?
@srmd86

@@magdalena.slavova I had horrible stomach pain and diarrhea. I have family history of digestive disorders and thankfully I had a doctor who truly listened to me and was thorough. Usually polyps have no symptoms. I was really lucky. I also am a strong advocate for my health and always get a second or third opinion if needed on health concerns.

This is one of the biggest problems with cancer. Carcinomas, or cancers derived from epithelial tissues, make up 90% of human cancers and usually take 10-30 years to form. For most of that time, they will be almost entirely asymptomatic, and when they do cause symptoms, there is an extremely long list of other potential causes that are vastly more likely. For example, stomach pain and indigestion are a symptom of stomach cancer, and there are about a million other causes which are much more likely, especially in someone young. Cancers can also produce a baffling and endless array of symptoms that vary from person to person, which explains the meme about how whenever you type just about any symptom into webMD, cancer often arises as a potential diagnosis.

I remember forcing doctors to do screenings and an endoscopy on my mom after being in hospital for pain over and over again. How come no doctor ever thought about it? Am not even a doctor I just do my research online and boom it crossed my mind we needed to do something. Finally results came in and she had a bad wound in her stomach which could have been cancerous if it wasn't diagnosed and treated on time.. sometimes doctors assume symptoms way too much, they never take things seriously unless they see you in death bed. Crazy

Thank you Ma’am for sharing such a highly personal and private story and ETERNAL shame on your physicians for not listening to their patient and taking her concerns seriously. It nearly cost you your life. As a 2x cancer survivor I learned long-ago that NO ONE (CERTAINTY not your doctors), including well-intentioned, loving family members, friends, nurses and others will be your own best patient advocate. YOU must fill this roll. So many people are intimidated when it comes to questioning the judgment and decision-making of their “God” physicians. They shouldn’t be. You continued to experience persistent, worsening GI symptoms which your PCP clearly didn’t take seriously- prescribing you one H2 Blocker after another whilst having done little to no laboratory, radiological, or physical testing to determine the source of the problem. As if prescribing you a laundry list of antacids will fulfill the standard of care. It won’t and it doesn’t. The patient always knows his/her body and symptoms best. When a doctor fails you despite worsening symptoms, time to find another physician immediately. Your life depends on it. I’m so very sorry for what you’ve endured, but at least you now have answers. Never be hesitant or recalcitrant to speak-up on your own behalf. It’s your right. When something doesn’t sound or feel right, it probably isn’t. Best wishes.

This is sad. This is such a big problem in today’s medical field. They argue with you and think they know exactly how you feel. The medical industry is a joke nowadays. Always advocate for yourself and argue with the doctors if you have to. Half of them are there for a check.

I hope your doing well. I guess some people can beat it and some can't. I just had a relative in her early 40's that passed away. She was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer than had spread to her liver. There was surgery on her colon, and Chemo that had to be adjusted to a very aggressive level of Chemo. None of the Chemo treatments worked The cancer then spread to her lungs. When it was decided there was no hope treatment ended hospice came and she passed a week later. It was 18 months from diagnosis to her passing. I really think the Medical world needs to start recommending that younger people get colonoscopy's, because far to many young people are getting Colon Cancer now days. I'm not sure but I wouldn't be surprised if insurance company's probably only pay for it after a certain age.

My son was diagnosed with appendix cancer 3 years ago at age 40. The appendix is part of your colon. And yes it can be malignant. If after a scan you are told you have an appendix stone INSIST it be removed ASAP. He is doing well so far after a right hemicolectomy and 2 chemotherapies.

Odybeatscancer - thank you so much for sharing. You are so inspiring. Did you have to have surgery? Chemo? I hope you will share more about your recovery. My insurance refused to pay for my 2nd colonoscopy years later but I went ahead and paid out of my pocket because i felt my life was worth it. I have had polyps and people say they are no big deal which sometimes they are not. But from everything I am reading from the comments, sounds like that can turn into cancer so I'm glad I got the colonoscopy.
