Having had a great deal of difficulty excepting my sexuality when I was younger, I can absolutely relate to how difficult this is been for you, but also to the acceptance that you have had from your friends. People who are truly your friends are going to accept you as you are, and you will be happier now that you can be your authentic self.

Yes, it was hard to tell people. Especially making a coming out video. This was perhaps the hardest video I have ever filmed, but I'm glad I did it

You are normal...I'm Hispanic and when I came out at first my mother did not take it good. After a few years she accepted it. As for the public everyone accepts me for who I am...I'm gay and I'm proud of it.

Congratulations on your courage and fortitude on your coming out story, inspiring others, including me! I'm quite a bit older than you are, when coming out (in my teens / and 20s, prior to 1980) was much more dangerous than it is today, for a variety of reasons. I've always been "partially" out, but to this day I still have 1 foot jammed in that closet. Your video, as well as several others, have encouraged me to come out to several close long time Straight friends and 1 family member within the past 2 weeks, all supporting me with love. I wish I had a time machine to go back to those years, instead of thinking of all those "would've, could've, should've, but didn't" incidents. Bottom line: WE need to be happy before we can make others happy. WE cannot and should not try to make others "happy" at the expense of our own lack of happiness. You are a beacon of Light and an angel sent from up above :)

Hey homie , I can only imagine how difficult it probably was for you to do this video let alone tell your family. I myself am straight, I'm trying to find myself a girl like Jackie 😘, I do however have family members that are gay & I can tell you that I never saw them any different when they also came out. Anyway, just keep your head & stop worrying about what other people think of you because people are always going to judge even when they don't know you. Anyway, just keep your head up & always keep it 💯% real always. Catch you on the next one.

Everything you are experiencing and have experienced is completely normal. Your story is very common. Go easy on yourself. Trust me, it does get better. You will meet somebody just like you and you both will feel more power as a couple going forward in this world. I had to edit my post as I just now realized you filmed this in 2018. I hope you are well and sending good thoughts from Toronto, Canada.

Congratulations on coming out. It will liberate you from the feeling of lying to yourself and others. People are born the way they are born. You are a good person. People who love you will continue to love you. If they don't, it's their problem--and they apparently did not have the capacity to love prior to hearing this. Trying to live as straight when you're gay makes for a miserable life. I applaud you. You seem sweet. Be happy! :-)

Accepting yourself is the first best step. Being honest is the only legitimate way to live. No doubt, by this time (4 yrs. later) you've discovered that your life has no shortcomings on account of being gay. Actually, you've probably discovered that there are some special perks. Thanks for helping others!

Anthony congratulations my dear!! on you coming out and setting that young boy inside you that's been waiting to be set free!! Let me tell you one thing I'm a trans woman and a very proud trans woman! it's something that you have to learn to embrace first" If you don't love yourself don't expect for no one else to love you.. And look at you!!! You are gorgeous you are a beautiful spirit I can tell!! What is it not to love? I'm going to tell you some cliches my mother told me and they have got me through Decades of Doubt questioning and insecurities.. if someone really love you they going to love you unconditionally!! I don't care if it's family friend whomever.. Be patient with some people..Not everybody is going to jump up hip hip hooray!! in the beginning. But by you being happy with yourself and finding happiness in your life you're going to demonstrate how someone like you can be just as happy and normal as anybody else.. and I'm using the word normal on purpose because what is normal?? look at this big world in all the varieties and diversity.. So for those that don't accept you and don't give you the love back. this is another cliche my mother used to say 'You can't miss nothing you never had..So move on because there's a big beautiful world out there waiting for you just stay close to those that love you and your higher power!! who made you and know all about you and didn't. make amistakes..💋🎵💪👍✌💛💙💜💚❤

There is no correct way to come out. Everyone has their own unique experience. My own experience started in the fall 1969 when I was 10 a year-old (I was actually in 3rd grade as I was a year behind the kids my own age). I was being named called and I didn't know what any of the words meant so I went to the only adult that I trusted who was the head librarian at the public library. Who started crying when she heard the words. Turned out that her 17 year-old brother killed himself over the some of the same words in 1951. She told me what they meant and asked me how I felt about them. I identified with most of them except the crude sexual acts as at 10 I had not thought about sexual acts. I did most of the things that a boy in 1969 would do. So told her that I was going to own the words and not let this boy get the best of me. She quoted my favorite quote from Hamlet: "to thine ownself be true". The next day I was playing basketball with my best friend and here came the boy I was issues with. He started his name calling then I said so what if I am? His jaw hit the ground and looked at me with surprised. He did not say another word and quickly left. Then I realized that my best friend was there. I was glad that I owned the words however I was upset with myself because I thought I had lost my best friend. I threw the basketball at him (didn't hit him) and said I suppose that you and I are no longer friends? He told me to calm down and that he knew from the start of the friendship, one he initiated, that I was probably gay. I went home after that. I knew I had to talked to my parents so at the dinner table when the family gathered for dinner I waited for my 6 year-old brother to leave the room and then I spoke about what was going on in my life. The last thing I said that I was gay. My parents were very supportive. My dad thought it was a phase however he would support me no matter what. My mom gave me unconditional love. Coming out for me has been an ongoing process as I work at a homeless shelter for men and I want to be upfront with our residents as my otherhalf of 40 years and sometimes comes with me with the director's knowledge. Rev George

Congratulations on coming out! It is the brave and right thing to do. Life is way too short to live inauthentically. Over time you will grow to feel more secure and comfortable in your identity, and you will find it easier to cope with whatever judgment and prejudice is thrown at you. It's totally normal that it's hard for you now. Everyone suffers from a certain degree of PTSD after spending their childhood in the closet. There is support out there for you, you just need to reach out and grab it (not in a Donald Trump kind of way...)

My str8 friends either had no problem or wanted to mess around with me.. My Family went ape shit bad, but they are nutty religious so that was not to much of a shock... Anthony is gets better trust me , I was so messed up I came close to ending it all. My Immediate family has no problem with it now. My Extended family don't like anybody that is not a primitive baptist cult member. They really hate me but the hate everybody that is all they do is hate. You will find out if not already that the most homophobic guys will either hate you or want to date you. I have ran into that quite a few times and 80% of them are now out of there own closet ... I am very much older than you and when I was your age being gay was literally a crime, considered to be a legally punishable mental disorder, and the kiss of death in any job. I know that first hand. Even today, in the city where I live, and not a small place, one can still be fired from ANY job for being gay. Things have changed but we must be on guard against all Republicans and their evil agenda to force us back into the closet...or preferably dead, and to repeal Marriage Equality. Speak out loudly and often against conservatives, religious people (christians everywhere are our sworn enemies) and those who still wish us ill. Never allow these bigots a venue to spout their lies and vile agenda. They will all gladly deny us the very same rights they enjoy each and every day, and think nothing of it.
