Great video Gary. I’m a huge Tomeo River fan and was one of those people who snapped up 5 notebooks when I heard they were changing paper. Great comparison video. 😊

Thanks. I'm going to stock up on mine next year. My current notebooks are getting close to full.

Where do you get the Ruby Blue and All The Best ink from? It seems to be a little hard to find for me
@GarryEves4 ай бұрын
I usually buy my inks from Cult Pens in the UK. I'm still using the bottles from the Inkvent calendars.

@@GarryEves They have what I was looking for thanks. I will have to spend a bit more for them to ship to the USA though.

How can you tell if a notebook has the old or new paper?
@GarryEves Жыл бұрын
To be honest I'm not sure. I think you'd need to rely on the retailer or supplier to tell you.

I can't really tell the old from the new, but I haven't put them side by side with the same inks.

Good to see this. I’m on a quest for decent paper and expect a sample of Tomoe River today. My plan is to print my own dot grid and corner decorations with my laser printer. I found lines or dots printed with an ink jet blur a little from fountain pen ink.

That's a great idea. I may give it a go myself.

With three versions of the tomoe river paper I'm not sure which two versions you are comparing. The 'old tomoe river' usually refers to the original from mashine no 7. The 'new tomoe' usually refers to the recently discontinued tomoe river from mashine no 9. And then there is 'the sakura t.r" that is what is made now at another factory by another company. Which ones is it you have here?

The Galeen Leather is the original No7 paper. the new paper is the latest sakura.

Very good comparison, Garry. I do find that Tomoe River paper does not allow the ink to dry quickly. Being left handed I do smear the ink across the page. My quest is to find a paper that allows the ink to dry quickly with little feathering and no bleeding.

Have you tried the Regalia paper from Endless recorder?

@@GarryEves no. I am guessing it is a good paper.

@@paulmchugh1430 I think the slow drying is a feature, allowing the sheen to come out better. Is good on 52gsm, not so much on 65.

I prefer the old TR. The new one feathers and shows through like crazy. I use it for my travelers and now I can't use this double sided. I stacked up on the old TR paper and notebooks. I have boxes. Seeing the new TR I think I made a good choice.
