Recently had to basically re-tank mine as it had a crack in it. Found a 1956 broom & wade 100l tank on fb marketplace, which weighs an absolute ton, proper thick metal, none of that chinesium crap we get nowadays, probably which my old tank was made of. Took the motor off my old one and stuck it on there, along with other bits and bobs. Works a treat and the tank is clean inside, zero rust.

We had to replace ours on our compressor lucky machine mart had ours in stock and we replaced the old oil that was black and thick.

I have a similar compressor, it didn't come with a motor so I found a motor off of a scrap compressor and fitted that. It wasn't compressing so I pulled the cylinder and found the oil control ring on one cylinder was broken and parts of it were sitting in the oil sump (along with thick goopy oil), the piston and rings looked like Briggs&Stratton so I found a B&S oil control ring that was close but slightly too thick so I ground it down to fit in the ring land. Refitted everything and it runs good though it's loud.

one other maintenance thing compressor oil like car/truck wears out looses viscosities drain refill. second thing is your belt wear n tear wears down. easy fix roll the compressor over by hand should be tight. if not loosen the electric motor to slide / slide back should have very little flex. check oil if it’s milky it very due.

Quick tip for PTFE tape. Turn the roll upside down, it means you can put a little tension on the tape as you wrap it instead of the roll trying to unravel itself.

Martin, for your viewers, PTFE tape is not a sealant, but is a lubricant, to aid in better tightening of the fittings. It comes in several widths, depending on the application, and there's even a variety for gas fittings that differs from that used in ordinary pipe fittings.

It is most definitely a sealant lol. You try assembling a fitting without it, you can tighten it as much as you want, it will still leak.
