Your NetGEAR Router AT $79.00 - OUT-OF-MY-LEAGUE! Very nice components, collectively, that is some system you put together! My router was $9.99. Like you, I ditched all of the eating, dressing, ADL devices - FREEDOM! My dad went to Purdue, bachelor's in business, after WWII. He worked as a sales rep. for Standard Oil 5 days a week and attended law school at I.U. three nights a week. Standard Oil offered him a new full-service gas station on US 31 S Indianapolis. The last stop for gas until Louisville, KY ('62 - '68). A Marathon with a full carwash and a dynamometer (horsepower at rear wheels - muscle cars days). Eight years later, a Tire store in Martinsville - (don't judge me) opened and operated by me the last two years before injury. Went to college and two years in, my philosophy professor and I walked outside after an evening class. He asked me what I was doing there. He saw the question mark on my face - "go sell something," he said. I've managed a Firestone Store (all tires), worked at Mongomery Auto for six months in Glendale, AZ, and five years at Sears Auto Greenwood Park Mall - this and carpentry are my vocational strengths. That nat'l non-profit (ASRO) - I was elected to Nat'l Headquarters and attended Fund Raising School at I.U.P.U.I - we folded after Christopher Reeve introduced Embryonic Stem Cells to the world. What's next at 68 years old? Working on that. Lol

Your dad did a great job, Mason. This looks like a great setup for those in a chair. I'm mostly bedridden, so I keep everything close to the bed I spend most of my time in. I use my phone quite a bit, pretty much as a computer. Looks great, Mason. Thanks for sharing this with us and the world. I'm sure it will inspire many to build one. ❤

Gadzooks! You lost me at, "I built." Earlier this year I purchased an HP Windows Ten 'refurbished' modem that came with a cheesy keyboard and wired mouse - a great purchase for $150ish, has worked flawlessly. My Windows 8.1 stopped providing updates - goodbye. The computer table was purchased twenty years ago along with 2) 7"(W) x 4"(H) x 34"(L) pieces cut from an eight-foot timber. The heavy boards raise the table to a comfortable place while the heavy lumber doesn't slide easily. A used 36" monitor and a Kensington mouse (Amazon $69.99) rests under my left hand while I type with a typing device on my right hand. The mouse is stationary - a game changer for me (ambidextrous). Norton, Ad Remover, and luck keep things manageable. Your entire arrangement is impressive. What do you use to type and write with?

Good grief, Mason! You're awesome at typing with typing devices in both hands - no mistakes, how? Lol Without 'devices' on my mouth hung open! It never occurred to me that a moment would catch me 'left out' wo my device aboard - still reeling from your knuckle technique. I too was advised to sleep on my hands closed and blessed with tenodesis in 1980. In H.S. took typing and reached 22 words per minute - I'm faster with Sticky Keys on with a device in either hand. The discovery of the Kensington mouse - Wendy Crawford Burton, a quad from a car accident at an airport in Japan (Wendy was well on her way to a professional modeling career). She built a new home in the wilderness north of Grand Rapids and invited my wife and I to come up and spend a few nights as we were both asked to be on the board of directors for a 501(c)(3) non-profit - The American Spinal Research Organization (ASRO). Wendy seemed fragile though always 'driven' and dodging depression - exercise was impossible. She introduced me to this big mouse I've mentioned. So instead of reaching w my left hand across the keyboard to hold an upside-down wired mouse, I acquired the big mouse called the Kensington (Amazon). Thanks for the direction regarding typing device on Amazon!@@masonx54

I started off with the typing devices but haven't used them for years now. I can almost type with my knuckles as fast as I could type before my spinal cord injury but have a lot more errors.

Awesome setup and video! What wheelchair is that, and how is it compared to others for using the computer? My setup: I have multiple rolling tables full of accessories + BenQ 2700U monitor on desk I can't reach + grabber reacher + laptop on height-adjustable laptop/projector stand (I use it as a screen when sitting in bed, while using Dierya DK61 and some kind of gaming mouse on separate height-adjustable, tilting Seville Classics rolling table) + upright display stands for papers (using the computer at all has gotten really hard, so I print important things for easy reference) + guitar pedals for foot support + two folding tables for arm support + giant pillow on bed for back support + height-adjustable Meeden drafting stool for putting my body in between all of the other things when I have the energy to do so. and I have no room for anything but sleeping. I would love to have a wheelchair like yours and clear up the space that's being taken up by all of my homemade armrest, backrest, and footrest supplies! I have stenosis from C5-C7 and have been jerry-rigging my own supplies for years, but your solution is the best I've seen. (I've been offered spinal fusion surgery but would rather just get a practical, working setup for doing stuff I enjoy in my current condition than go through a whole surgery that's not guaranteed to make my life better and could make it worse.)

@jessiejones907 Жыл бұрын
@@masonx54 Hey buddy. I highly recommend you give Diablo 4 a shot it's super easy for quads. Yeah I've played a bunch of games on the PC using the mouse and keyboard but I still prefer a controller. I play mostly on PS5 but recently upgraded my PC specifically for Starfield since it's a Microsoft exclusive but I most definitely will be using a controller to play it through Steam.😁

@@jessiejones907Are ps5 controllers easier than xbox?
@jessiejones907 Жыл бұрын
Yeah for me the PS5 controller is a lot easier to use. I can't get used to that left joystick on the Xbox controller. As far as aiming some games like COD, Starfield and Destiny have a accessibly option that allows you to toggle aim down sites. So for example when I'm playing Starfield I'll tap R2 once gun comes up I fire with R1 and just tap R2 again when I'm done. These games also have button mapping which makes it so much easier for people with disabilities find a configuration that works best for them. Happy gaming.😁
