Ah my aunty!! this video is so timely! literally had someone over last night who marketed a salad master pot set to us for £9,000 and I was shook lol, my husband was just humming all through lol, couldn't even comprehend but thanks so much for this xx
@FloChinyere6 жыл бұрын
Tosin Alabi what are you telling me?! 😮😮😮 If I have to splash that much on cookware, it had better be doing all the meal plans, chopping, cooking and cleaning up on its own. 😂 I read that they use surgical stainless steel to make their cookware which is a much higher grade and better at handling heat distribution than 18/10 but is there another selling point?
@TosinAlabi6 жыл бұрын
All Nigerian Recipes loool yes that’s all really!! It’s made of Titanium steel, barely burns and you use little to no water most times, loool but ah! The value proposition to the cost is absolutely disproportionate!!! funny how the £9000 set was the family friendly one, there was the chef set of £19,000 loool money for a new Mercedes 😂😂😂😂😂. That’s what I paid for my msc programme 😂😂😂
@FloChinyere6 жыл бұрын
😂😂😂 An MSc in Cookiology must come with the cookware set then. That's some people's chicken change. Money is good ooo! I'm still laughing at your hubby humming during the discussion.
@anulikaononye6 жыл бұрын
Tosin Alabi my sis i use saladmaster for years now and i think its well worth it for me. Please the cheff set is the one of 9k and the highest price others are far less, nothing like 19k oh! And yes there are plenty selling points, its life time warranty, it retains more nutrition because of the thermoregulating mechanism, saves ur ingredients, time, gas etc. U can even bake and do all oven job in them etc. But its all choice sha; i would rather buy them than a Mercedes for health reason because its pollution free too.
@MotiA.6 жыл бұрын
One has to be wealthy enough to afford salad master. I know families that have them and they’re pretty happy with them. If one can afford it, why not? If one can’t, then we move on to stainless steel 18/10, lol.

I have had success with 20 Mule Team Borax on my stainless pots. I dissolve 3 tablespoons of Borax in very hot water in the bottom of pots that have baked / burnt crusty food inside. I let it soak until the water is completely cool and it rinses off everything with just a soft sponge. No iron sponge or brillo pads to scratch the surface. Of course, gloves are recommended as it's just as harsh or your skin as it is on the burnt food particles.
@FloChinyere6 жыл бұрын
That Borax is too poisonous to be used in washing cooking utensils. Some people use it as insecticide! I wouldn't use anything that harsh for washing something I would use in cooking food.

+All Nigerian Recipes I was wondering if you know how to restore a stained stainless steel pot?
@FloChinyere6 жыл бұрын
Ok. Here's the answer I gave to someone else that asked about removing stains: "In Nigeria we use a cleaning abrasive known as VIM to remove soot and heat stains from aluminium pots. If you are in Nigeria, you can try cleaning it with that and an abrasive sponge (the green side of the foam sponge I used in the video). If you are outside Nigeria you can try spraying the pots with a mixture of white vinegar, pure lemon juice, conc. dish washing liquid and baking soda. Leave it overnight, wash and see if that improves the look of the pot ...." The success of these depends on how long those stains have been there. You may need several sessions of cleaning before the stains clear.

Aunty Flo said all those fancy pots.. FORGET IT! 😂 😂 Those pots don teach me lesson. When cooking when I was in Nigeria my neighbours would always know because it was always burning. I learnt to use pure stainless the hard way 😁. Much love ♥
@FloChinyere6 жыл бұрын
Kaycee Umerah ahhh tell me about it! When I first moved to the UK, the company apartment I was in was decked out in the most beautiful set of flowered enamel pots. I was so happy and could not wait to cook with them but tell you what? I could not cook yam with those, ordinary yam would take over 1 hour and will not form a delicious porridge that I love! Jollof Rice? Will be burnt, soggy and undone all at the same time! Shaki will turn to rubber when cooked with the pot. They were only good for pasta and vegetables. It was so unfortunate because the pots were so beautiful. When we eventually figured out that it's the pots, I ran to Argos to buy that Tefal pot set in this video. My Algerian flatmate could not cook her traditional meals with those either and when she travelled to her country, she brought back an aluminium pot. That was how we were able to enjoy our meals. Much love to you too. ❤😘
@KayceeUmerah6 жыл бұрын
All Nigerian Recipes haha I will go to Argos to look for the Tefal. I hope it is still in stock.
@FloChinyere6 жыл бұрын
They will have Tefal pot sets but the designs have changed over the years. I notice that they do more of metallic handles these days to make them oven compatible. Once it is original stainless steel minimum 18/10 and the pots should not have inside coating just the frying pans (non-stick), it's fine.

@FloChinyere6 жыл бұрын
Mummy Vlogs welcome to my channel. Yes, after rubbing the vegetable oil, use the pot to cook like that without washing off the oil. After cooking you wash the pot normally. You can repeat the process whenever you notice that a particular pot suddenly starts burning food. You know, a few months down the line some pots may suddenly start burning food easily. When you notice that, wash the pot very well and season again. Some people even do this yearly on all their pots, it's good maintenance for the pots.
@beyongparenting6 жыл бұрын
All Nigerian Recipes thanks a lot Does it matter what I use I to cook for that first time?
@FloChinyere6 жыл бұрын
If I can help it, I wouldn't use a new pot to cook highly pigmented meals. I will start with boiling water with it, boiled white rice, , boiled white yam, making semo with it etc by then the heat would have "baked" the pot. Then I can cook pigmented meals. But in an instance where you do not have an old pot to do the job while you pamper the new pots, then you should not worry about that, cook anything and wash the pot very well afterwards.
@beyongparenting6 жыл бұрын

Isabella Agbashe cast iron is the best pot you can invest in all over the world.
@newt18346 жыл бұрын
They require a lot of seasoning, pre and post cooking. I will advise you to Google or search for suggestions on KZbin on how to season a cat iron utensil, there are many videos made by the Chinese. I have an iron Wok ‘de BUYER’ brand and after seasoning with flax seed oil I have no complaints. Remember cast iron is not dishwasher safe. My wok is also too big for my dishwasher and it’s easy to clean. Remember acidic food is not compatible with cast iron, so tomato and others ruin the integrity of the utensils, do you want to go through that? Check out this website: sherylcanter.com/wordpress/2010/01/a-science-based-technique-for-seasoning-cast-iron/ I found their information on seasoning pots and pans valuable. Good luck.
