The Eagles are famously protective of their copyrights. Don Henley has said that his publishers (UMG) have a team of 60 people who continuously search the Internet for potential breaches, so a copyright strike from them should hardly come as a surprise. I'd be more worried if you posted the video and didn't get a strike... 🙂It's good to see you more upbeat about the situation, and for me, seeing more traditional music being played is a bonus.

So, many thanks also to those who helped you out. As a suggestion for copyrightfree music: there is a book with flute solo's, used by recorder players, written long ago by a Dutchman, Van Eyk. It's called Der Fluyten Lusthof (The flute's garden of delight). I intend to buy it, and could then look for possibly usable tunes.

I suspect that your international audience is larger than you know. That opens up a vast number of folk and other non-copyrighted music. If your audience would comment on their nation and music of preference, it might help you choose future songs to feature. I am in the USA, and like folk, older country, and traditional Celtic music. Excellent news, Stephanie! I'm happy to hear that things seem to be going well now. Now, if you're interested, I do know a few other KZbin-based musicians who have said in the past that they are happy to let other people do covers of their music: *Random Encounters (AJ & Gwen Pinkerton, Nate Morse)* They create musicals, mainly about video games, by using their own original music. They've explicitly said that anyone can have permission to use their music, even on a monetizable platform like KZbin. The only stipulations they've mentioned are, a) "please include a link to the original source in your video description," b) "please give your cover a title that isn't identical to the title of the musical it comes from," (e.g. if the original video is called "Phoenix Wright the Musical," call your video "Phoenix Wright the Musical [Cover]," or something), and c) not that this is a requirement, they say, "Feel free to share the link with us; we like seeing your creations!" You may want to contact them if you're considering covering their music; I can just say pre-emptively that they're likely to approve. *Yungtown (Luke Sizemore)* Luke is mainly a hip-hop and R&B artist, and also the only rapper I like, because he keeps his music clean, and prefers his songs to be uplifting and positive. (One of my favourites is called "Animal Crossing Song," but nicknamed "I'll Be There for You." That song has actually made me tear up before.) Earlier this year, I bought an album of all his early work, and he directly says that anyone who has bought that album can have unlimited license to use those songs, even in commercial ways, like as soundtracks for a video game, and he won't charge royalties. You may also want to contact him to ask if he is officially ok with you covering his songs, though I'm pretty sure he will be happy to know that more people are listening to his music and interested in it. *Homestarrunnerdotcom (Mike & Matt Chapman)* The Chapman Brothers, both as themselves, as their fictional bands, and as their in-universe characters, have shared a lot of music in the past 20+ years, and offered free downloads of several of their songs. The songs cover a wide variety of genres, from '80s metal, to '90s indie rock, to '30s barbershop quartet, to lo-fi, to video game soundtracks, etc. Multiple times, I've also seen Mike and Matt share and praise fan covers and interpretations of their original music. One of the important reasons that they still make such good content after all this time, and still enjoy doing it, is specifically because they aren't making Homstar Runner content as their paid career. So, they are usually pretty good about letting other people use their songs. ***** For the other musicians I was thinking of, it's a little more tentative; I'd want to contact them myself and ask how they would feel about letting other people use their music. Anyway, if you're interested in using any of these artists' songs, I think I can send you some contact information. (I have your e-mail address from the couple times I submitted videos for your online collaborations, so I could send the information there, if you want.) I hope things on the channel keep going well, and make a lot of people happy.

Rick Beato's channel will have info on negotiating KZbin and copyright. (See e.g. kzbin.infoF7AyZq5dVFI?si=soxXJPEN0vpYTRSF ). It's not as simple as contacting artists. Many have sold rights to publishers, and it's the publishing houses that are combing KZbin for violations. I've heard of even trad pieces getting flagged because another artists under a big publisher had covered it. KZbin is dumb. As a trad and hymn lover, I'm happy with "older" music, and I'd love to hear music from independent artists.

Oh definitely, that's moreso why I'm staying away from bigger bands and popular artists at the moment and focussing on new and upcoming talents and smaller local groups.
