It's time for our yearly cottage garden recap! This was our fourth year in the garden and our second year on KZbin. What a busy year it has been, we've worked on some really exciting projects including appearing on gardeners world, upgrading our pond and planting thousands of bulbs ahead of springtime. We have also upgraded our filming equipment this year and learned how to use a gimbal and a macro lens in our videos. Thank you so much for joining us in our garden journey so far!

Another late diagnosee here, it makes me happy to see someone else who throws themselves so completely into their special interest. It’s reassuring to be reminded I’m not the only one who gets burned out a lot, and I agree that spending time in a garden is a wonderful way to recharge when that happens.

I am also in the northern Midwest US and I agree! The idea of March being a favorite month is bananas to me, but I am glad you (Mona) can enjoy it. Because it is still quite frozen here!

Amazing! 250 years old cottage! I have long admired the English way of PRESERVING antiquity. Here in the USA there is far too much destroying the past. 9:10 Yes, we are in a valley here, drained on the south side, but water recedes too slowly suffocating roots of some plants in wintertime "blocks of ice". Our butterfly bush, for example, it can tolerate our winter cold, but to prevent it's roots from suffocating in ice, I must dig it up for winter. So, I have experienced what you speak. Much more cold for us in Ohio though, than in the U.K. 4:44 Your snowdrops will become gorgeous weeds in about 5 years from now. Ours were planted around 20 years ago and are a solid mass of about 1o feet wide by 4 feet deep. They are slow but steady and RELIABLE. 6:12 For me Christmas is springtime. For me it is "Joy to the world, for spring has come, let all the birds rejoice....... let tulips and crocuses bloom, let tulips and crocuses bloom, let TULIPS, and TULIPS and CROCUS bloom! LOL! 6:34 Yes, tomatoes will grow rapidly if they have heat and sun, without that, they sit there, sulk, pout turn yellow and die. Pepper, however, MUST be planted early, they grow agonizingly slow, even in ideal conditions. I have been gardening here in Ohio for 50 years, so, 50+ years of trial and error. 12:10 I think of springtime as a botanical "honeymoon" exhuberance, euphoria, a sort of sense of the ancientness of life , a poignant reflection of a romanticized past, devoid of it's griefs and frustration. The summer arrives, for me summer is "mid life" warroir mood of combatting blights, predatious insects and plant devouring predators and weeds, weeds and more weeds and the longer that the days are, the faster the weeds grow. My approach is "nip it in the bud" which consists of 2 hours per day, slicing off weeds just as they sprout with a garden hoe that I keep as near razor sharp as possible. This in my densely planted 50 by 300 foot vegetable garden. My flowers/cottage garden requires very little time. 13:30 Yes! Irises are a must have, when backlit, they look like stained glass with crystailline glint, and the fruit like fragrance, my nose wants more and more of. I grow many types. 23:30 Be sure to acquire a few of the finest Fuji mums, get early, midseason and late types, they are absolutely amazing, blooming when all else is gone. They will grow TALL, the wind will blow them over, so I keep mine in a 50 pound, antique, salt glazed crock. You MUST have a few Fuji mums, they start slowly, but then by August they are growing up like a frieght train, perhaps an inch per day. Get the type with long , quilled petals, here in the states one named "Golden Rain" is absolutely unreal in it's beauty.

It is hard work, or should I say a labour of love, but you have a Great ethos into what makes life worthwhile and I do love your cottage so I hope you don't mind me mentioning it as I saw your video from a year ago. I look forward to catching up with your back catalogue of videos and more power to you. D

You've had an exciting year, congratulations are in order! The thing I love about your garden, is that despite the fact there was much planning and expense to get to this point, it, nevertheless has the look of a natural, flowing garden, as if it has been there for generations. Runner ducks are too comical!

You are my favorite channel, your garden is so beautiful. My favorite flowers from your garden are all your winter clematis, cirhosa ‘freckles’ especially and not to forget your spring clematis montana. Love your roses and your hellebores. Your water wine barrel inspired me and I made two exactly like that. Thanks again from Canada

It is a good idea to jot down what is blooming in your garden month by month. It really does help when you plan out what you need to plant in the coming year. It gives you a better idea where to spend your plant budget and what on.

I’ll be watching this video later today. Just watched your cottage tour and so thoroughly enjoyed it! Especially when you turned over the painting a friend had made for your mother as one of my daughter’s is an Anna☺️ Also as I am of Irish descent and my Mom was also a Logue (I could be wrong but thinking that’s your last name?)… I’m clearly a maximalist myself and love the English country feel in my own way in my home. So I just subscribed to your channel to get ideas for my own garden which is a blank canvas so to speak (moved in last year and had much to do inside first)! Keep making videos and ignore any negative comments (as mentioned when I attempted to comment on your home tour inside). Enjoy the nice comments and know those who appreciate your work are out here (I’m in NY state just over the border from Canada)☺️🙏🏻

Even if you don’t like how much she talked in this video, to say this to her especially in this manner is incredibly rude.
