Keith's dad and mom both listened to country music when Keith was growing up. His song Wild Hearts in the beginning is about when his dad took him to go see Johnny Cash for the first time and his dad was in awe of the artist. Keith Urban has been my absolute favorite artist for over 20 years now. I started listening to rock and then I heard "You'll Think of Me" one day and from that point on I was hooked on country music...because of Keith Urban. Now I listen to just about everything. But Keith will always be my go to artist because he is a phenomenal singer, song writer and guitar player!

I just saw him .again, this past weekend at the Hard Rock in South Florida. The energy, entertainment, production, everything about his show is great. He had a 10 year old come up on stage at the show and told him happy birthday then took a "selfie" with the crowd in the background. He is an amazing talent who appreciates his fans.

It was music that brought him to the US. He quit school at 15 to play music. Has played guitar since 6 years of age. His dad was a big Johnny Cash fan. His dad only drove American vehicles. He said in an interview that he knew he only wanted to play country music and needed to come to the US.

Only the U.S. has cowboys? Sebs! Where you are from, the Pampa's gauchos.s are the toughest wranglers in the World. Australia is one of the biggest beef producers and has had cow-punchers as long as we have! There are a ton of country (and all other types) music artists from Australia. One of the best is a lady, Kasey Chambers. Her recent cover performance of Lose Yourself went viral. 2 of her many originals The Captain, and Am I Not Pretty Enough are my recommendations after that. Keith Urban has said that Glen Campbell was a role model and a big influence on him. I hope you know who Glen Campbell is. Glen was a favorite of mine since I was a young girl back in the 70s. He's gone now, but there is a video of Keith accompanying Glen to one of Glen's songs on stage at one of Keith's concerts. You have to see that! Glen was one of the biggest country music stars for many decades. A great singer and also a master guitar player.

My sister used to work at Fender Guitar's HQ. Keith Urban came for a tour one day and the custom shop gave him a guitar with all the pickups customized (they thought) to suit him. He reverted it back to stock. She said he's a heck of a guitarist in person. She has about 15 Teles and Strats and doesn't play at all.

Golden Road was his big break out solo album…so good🤩 He wrote most of the music. The “Raining On Sunday” video was my introduction to Keith. Never heard of him, but I wanted more😍😍 I was surprised the guitar playing at the end of “Raining On Sunday” was “country”

Great love song! Interesting to learn that Sebs speaks Chinese as well - no wonder you don't always listen to the lyrics. (My sister speaks multiple languages - I'll have to ask her if she has that "problem", too.) It also makes more sense, now, that you always hear the instrumentals - it's not just that you are a guitar player, but that non-verbal music is universal. Ali's right - you need to ALWAYS read the lyrics to get the most out of the music. Keep at it, Ali - you'll have a deeper, shared appreciation of music, yet!

I am exactly like you. I NEVER thought I would like country music. I discovered Keith Urban and I haven't looked back. He had me at 'til Summer Comes Around. I heard it on radio when I had temporarily lost my eyesight and my husband bought me a radio to listen to. This was around 2009. I heard that song and realized I was listening to a. Country music station. Through listening to Keith Urban and that station I found myself drawn to other artists too. Keith Urban is still #1 for me,but I really liked a lot of other artists and the genre overall. I am so excited to find you guys, today!

I have always felt so grateful to be from the generation with the best music of all time. I got to watch rock and roll be born and grow up! I have never taken it for granted. One thing that makes me sad for todays kids is that true talent isn't necessary to be on stage, so basically they don't have concerts in their lives like we up until the 90's. I grew up going to so many concerts where the music coming from the stage was just as good, if not better than the studio recording. There is one exception and genre that does carry forward the quality of music that still performs on a stage and sounds as good live as they do recorded.....and that is Country. If you are not a kick ass musician, there isn't any room for you in Country music. Those people cut an album and actually go out on the road to support the sales of that album, consistently. Kids that love Country have concerts to go to with real people singing in their own voice without anything correcting their pitch or adding major distortion. I'm glad you are getting some enjoyment from Country music, this is coming from someone that switched to Country in the late 80's early 90's. Welcome to our true talent club!😊

A great female country artist from Australia who moved to Nashville and found some success is Jamie O'Neal, who had two No. 1 country hits with "There Is No Arizona" and "When I Think About Angels." I recommend the official music videos from 2001 or the studio versions. ... Btw, Olivia Newton-John started out as a country artist before she took a turn to pop (like Taylor Swift did more recently). I recommend Olivia's early country hits "If You Love Me (Let Me Know)" and "Please, Mister, Please" and "Let Me Be There" and "I Honestly Love You."

Check out "I Told You So" too if you haven't already. 🙂 I actually saw him in Shreveport, Louisiana, and before the concert started, they were playing music on the PA. And "Louisiana Saturday Night" came on, and the entire hall was singing along, as you can imagine. So at the end of the concert, KU played / sang the song. I don't know if he can just learn anything by hearing it once or what. I doubt it. What I think happened was in the middle of the show, Carrie Underwood did a set, and I think he learned the song while she was doing her thing. Either way, it was amazing.

There are two Keith Urban instrumental songs I think you'll enjoy. How much and where do I donate to suggest these songs, please. Keith grew up listening to country music. Later he was influenced by other genres of music that helped him grow as a musician. He's a prolific songwriter. Starting out in Nashville that's one of the things he did besides being a studio musician to pay the bills.
