This week's build was a real rollercoaster! I finally got around to welding the new roll-off body onto my vintage dump truck, but the twist is... I had never seen my cousins welds. He just told me he wasn't nervous about working on it. Turns out, this is a young welding wizard. Talk about putting your trust in family.
This beast of a truck isn't designed for heavy hauling, but it's gonna be a head-turning advertisement for my junk removal/dumpster business. We've still got a ways to go, but my cousin absolutely killed it! We built a heavy-duty rail system customized for the exact dumpsters I use.
After this we will be cleaning up the frame, adding some finishing touches, slapping a winch on and testing this dumpster hauler out!
Shortly after that we will focus on the body, aiming to make her as pretty as possible!
It originally felt weird to cut up an old barn find truck like this. But seeing it get a whole new life is awesome!

LOVE the truck. It's cool what you are doing with it. I haven't been around nice trucks like that since I was your age... But if those are split-rims, be VERY careful. Those old rims have killed and maimed a lot of people.

If it isn't used on a daily, the whole advertisement aspect for your brand awareness can be done during town parades and such 👌 I sure would still love to see it haul some good loads though.

I would suggest going to a truck tire shop and ask about 22.5 Dayton wheels. They are used on school busses. Direct bolt on in place of the original 20" wheels. Uses the same Wedges and spacers but uses modern tubeless tires and single piece wheels.

​@rollingops if you go that route another trick is to weld 2 tabs beside the valve stem. That way when the wheel slips they hit the spoke and stop instead of shearing the valve stem. Last time I got some 22.5 wheels they were cheap. Like 50-60 in like new condition

Don’t forget the hold downs for the back end of the dumpster. Beside just the lock in the front.

I actually started with the same venturi vacuum system but had lots of problems with clogs. I have since built a pressure pot system to force the media through the tube and it is much easier to regulate the amount added to water stream.

Sweet good back up. I would weld a 2x6 tube on underside of rails about a foot back as a bumper you can put lights in it as well. Good job it’s taking shape. It has power down i presume and not gravity down.

It's actually has gravity down, so I'm working on ways to improve that as well!

IMO its too steep.... You may wanna put some weights on the front of the truck. Your truck's wheel base is shorter and taller then a normal dumpster truck. You get a heavier Dumpster your popping a wheelie.

Hmm! I'll have to look into that. Because the dump angle isn't as steep as my trailer. But that may operat differently on the rear!

Wet blasting is the way to go If Trevor wants to save a bunch of $$ I have a hookup to buy the coal slag (the black stuff) in 2000lb bags for probably what he is paying for about 500lbs in bags....
