Fred Gwynne was the actor who played the judge. He is best known as Herman Munster on the '60s TV show "The Munsters." Lane Smith, the prosecuting attorney, is an actor that I've always liked. If you ever get around to The Mighty Ducks, he's the win-at-all-costs coach of the Ducks' main rivals, the Hawks. Sadly, Lane Smith passed away due to ALS in 2005.

Hi James! 30:05 - The reason Vinny could sleep in prison during a riot, is because THAT is the type of noise he was used to sleeping with. Being from New York, it was the "sounds of the country life" that bothered him the most. He wasn't used to those kinds of sounds. While the prison riot was "just like home" to him. 31:23 - Heh. The judge overruled the objection, because it was obvious that Vinny knew something was coming, because of the "well thought out" objection. Hilarious, isn't it? The chemistry between Pesci and Tomei (pronounced Toe-May) is off the charts in this movie. They had such a great dynamic. You can tell that they both have that "New Yawkah" accent perfectly. Also, Fred Gwynn is most notable for playing Herman Munster in the TV series "The Munsters" back in the 1960s. The show was very popular with both adults and children back in the 1970s, as well.

I saw this as a special on TV with all the F-bombs taken out and thought, "My grandmother would love this." She was a huge fan of courtroom drama and comedy. So I rented it, shrugged at the R-rating and sat there cringing for two hours as my grandmother watched it. However, even with the F-bombs she still loved it and especially the judge who she recognized from The Munsters. This is one of my favorite comedies.

Fred Gwynne, the actor playing the judge was famous for his role in the 60's comedy "The Munsters", before this, he starred in another sitcom "Car 54 Where are you?" starring two bungling NY police officers. One of his "Car 54" costars, Al Lewis joined the "Munsters" cast as vampire Grandpa Munster. He also starred in feature films "Cotton Club", and Stephen King's "Pet Semetary", he was also an accomplished artist and had several gallery openings. The problem was, fans were always attending his premieres wanted to hear him do his Hermann Munster character with the infamous bellowing laugh. This annoyed him because he was a serious artist and it was difficult to shed the character.

Marisa Tomei (toe-MAY) won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her performance as Mona Lisa Vito. There were rumors that it was a mistake, that the award was supposed to have gone to someone else. As we now know, when they accidentally give the award to the wrong party, they correct it immediately (this happened in 2017 when they accidentally gave the Best Picture award to La La Land instead of Moonlight). Tomei really was great in My Cousin Vinny, and it was one of the few times a major award went to a comedic performance. Most actors will tell you that comedy is harder than drama, but it rarely gets recognition in the big award categories. Tomei has turned in other really good performances in The Perez Family, In the Bedroom, Before the Devil Knows You're Dead, The Wrestler, The Lincoln Lawyer, and The Big Short. She was also Peter Parker's Aunt May in several Marvel movies.

Vinny being from the city, the scene with Vinny sleeping in the cell is just so true that when you have sound all the time you just sleep, but a quiet night and one sound wakes you up.

I knew you'd love this movie! I'm sure it's already on your list but, just in case it's not, you'll also want to watch Liar Liar with Jim Carrey. It's another hilarious legal comedy with Carrey playing a sleazy lawyer who finds himself unable to lie.

You are simply the best reaction channel on KZbin! BY FAR! And I have watched them all while recovering from an injury. Your reactions are real and sincere. You make me laugh with these movies all over again. You got me blubbering all over again with movies that are emotional. You are a regular guy but you are not afraid to show emotions and every reaction is heartfelt and honest. You're not looking at your phone or ruining the movie by over thinking it and talking for an hour and a half. You seem like a very kind and honest person who is probably a great neighbor, father, son or brother. And thank God you stay completely away from making political comments. I can't wait for your next reaction my friend! ✌

@@AwesomeUSMovies Sorry. I corrected it above. I can't remember which movie it was but you got emotional and that got me tearing up as well. LOL You would love Good Will Hunting by the way. It had some of the best acting in it. I remember now. It was your reaction to Planes Trains and Automobiles 🚘 🤣 It was when you saw Neil Page (Steve Martin) find Del Griffith (John Candy) still waiting by himself in the train station because he didn't have a home. You are the best my friend.

When you asked what grounds the Judge had to overrule his objection. It is because the Prosecutor set him up for it. By telling him that he had a surprise the night before, he knew that Vinny would give an elaborate objection and that the Judge knew that Vinny wasn't that versed in the law. By Vinny having such a well thought out objection, it made it look like that he did have prior knowledge of the witness and thus his objection to not having any prior knowledge was invalid.

I was wondering if you were going to remember Ralph Macchio from "The Karate Kid". 👍 This is one of my favorite movies of his. This is also one of my favorite Joe Pesci movies. This film is always great for a laugh. I love the prison cell scene when Vinny first meets his cousin and his friend. The absolute misunderstanding between Vinny and the friend is so great and well written. I also love the whole city folk vs small town country folk story being told here, as well as the professional vs unprofessional conflict between Vinny and the judge. Finally, Marisa Tomei as Mona Lisa Vitto is just perfect.
