What a trip! It’s so special when you are able to see so many amazing birds and so many lifers in a day, especially in the US! Congrats on all the lifers!

Dude, you're crushing it out west. Hope you get to come out east sometime to do some birding and see some of those eastern birds you want to see. Congrats on the lifers. All of the birds you saw were cool and would be lifers for me, but I love orioles, so the Scott's was nice, along with the hummingbirds. I also really want to see a cross bill, having heard some out in the Seattle area, but never putting eyes on one.

Thanks I appreciate it!! I would love to come out East! I'll be in Montreal in August, (maybe that counts as "East") Sending you crossbill luck so you can see one soon!

Hi! I'm glad your video popped on my YT page. Fun to share in your excitement of birding and finding lifers. What a great day you had! Loved hearing you first find the owl 11:30. Funny and exciting! Been a birder 50 years, and no, I've never seen one. Just yesterday talked to a lifelong friend/birder about looking for saw-whet's! We used to go look in all the cedar trees at the Cincinnati Nature Center as kids on the Christmas Bird Count. Never found one! Fun note, though: I was at Mammoth Lakes in California with my spouse last week. We went hiking, and I stumbled on a pair of Williamson's Sapsuckers feeding their young at a nest cavity in a tree right in the middle of a fairly popular trail. It was also a lifer for me! Thanks and good luck with your vlog.

Thanks for watching the video! I don't know if I will ever have looks at another Saw-whet like I did in that moment. That was super special. Hope you get to see one real soon! Congrats on your lifer Williamson's Sapsucker! That's awesome!

Congrats on a successful trip! I loved seeing the Saw-whet Owl. I've never seen one myself. I also enjoyed learning about the Cassia Crossbill - I had never heard of that one before! I've never seen even a Red Crossbill either!

My wife and I had a private demonstration with a falconer in Big Sur CA last Feb. He brought 6 birds which were all amazing, one of them was a northern sawwhet owl. So it doesn’t really count the same as seeing it in the wild, but the experience of being 6 inches from one was so awesome. Was so cool to see it that close. That demonstration is literally the reason I’m here watching KZbin birding videos now. I’d lose my mind if I came across an owl in the wild like you did. Great video brotha.

Congrats on your lifers! That’s a juvenile NSWO, so the mom was probably close by. I have seen one in the wild, plus have attended banding nights where I’ve seen multiple in one night and got to release one after it got its bracelet! 😍

Thank you so much! I stayed up a bit late that night reading trying to hear if they would call, but didn't hear them. I can't complain though, seeing one is hard to beat!

I got a Northern Saw-whet Owl here in the highest mountains of San Diego County. Following up on intell we had got of its location, we heard it first. It took about 90 minutes for us to locate it in the tall pine trees even though it was calling constantly. We used a thermal imaging scope to locate it, then got looks with our flashlights and binoculars.

Good morning to you from Hong Kong 🇭🇰. From what I learned by looking through the book, BIRDS OF HONG KONG, as well as my visits to Singapore 🇸🇬, there is the Black-naped Oriole. Though I have never seen an oriole in Hong Kong 🇭🇰, I have seen them in Singapore 🇸🇬👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
