Love them!! I love ink tense pencils. !!!! I’ve been looking at the intense paint pans also...so ty for sharing!! Soooooo excited to find you on YT!!! With all your quirkiness!! So fun!! ❤😂 Edit: oh also....LOOOOOOVVVVVEE! The blue eyeshadow and the pop of bright/fluorescent pink color in the jacket, omg just love it -remember the green?!? So awesome.....we Gen Xers had THE BEST era to grow up in!!! The last decade of innovative clothing style ( everything else has really just repeated styles from the 20th Centry - mainly the latter half ); we had the greatest pop of colors for everything from clothes, objects, makeup - miss my blue and green mascara that matched my eyeliner and eyeshadow; best music! The rock ballads, the country, the pop, boy bands, rap, country rock, the alternative genre started, etc...those who were later gen Xrs brought in the 90s music, which was stil pretty good. The turn of the Centry brought all of the auto-tune and computer produced music giving everything -regardless of genre-the same feel/sound! *sigh* The kids today just don’t even know what they’re missing!!

She's right though. If things are really wrong, lazily put together, cheaply made and low quality they should always be called out. We all pay premium $$$$$$ for our stuff and supplies and you all know how much art needs to be created and sold for all of it. Plus art supplies are very expensive. For some reason the industry thinks we are made of gold. That goes for art supplies and evetything related to it.

Loved your video. I'm not an artist nor do I color in books. I've been drawing meditative art for several years. I use a lot of color pencils as well as collect them. I especially used them for my mandals I draw. I'm now dabbling into neuroart with pastels and watercolor pencils. I have many of the sets you've presented. Inktense and Caron-dashe(?) Are my most high end ones. The tricolor are fun, the square pencils are good and the SFarben pencils are elegant like the artist in the picture! Some suggestions include Lyra and Stabillo color pencils, both of which lay down very softly, Derwent drawing pencils(all Derwent products are great)and my neocolor crayons. My finances have taken a hit in these last two years. This hobby has relieved my stress and relived my pain from my RA (arthritis). Thanks for your info and fun in sharing. @nancyloomis30463 жыл бұрын
Wow...you are the color pencil Boss Diva Queen 👑! Another YT coloring channel that I think is really good & I think Lindsay Frugal Crafter follows her is Jennifer, “Coloring Bliss.” She does a deep dive into color pencils, all sorts of markers and anything people can color with. No fine art...just coloring. Actually coloring is what got my art mojo going again after not doing much of anything for years. At some point I wanted more and wanted to do my own thing. But it’s a great way to learn about colors and blending and can be very therapeutic. And I have some coloring books that were very challenging if I was going to do the art well (like the Game of Thrones coloring book.). But for those of us who want to produce our own art, just coloring someone else’s art and nothing else can eventually become a bit hollow.
@ArtistJane3 жыл бұрын
Hi Nancy! Good to see you here! I love Jennifer’s videos and she has swatch sheets on her website! I appreciate all the time and effort she passionately puts into her videos! That’s awesome that coloring inspired you to get back into art. I know what you mean - you get that spark to create something unique after a while. Is it weird that I sometimes buy the coloring books because some of them have beautiful artwork and then never get colored? There’s one called “The Ink House” that I have and it’s absolutely stunning artwork!

So happy to see part two of the coloured pencil epic!!!, Derwent are my main go to brand and have been for years I have everyone of the ranges they make,though they have retired a lot of the older ranges,the Inktense are my hands down absolute favourite I have every colour in the range and the pan set as well,it's in vividness I love in these pencils.Derwent really seem to want to invent new types and ranges of pencils. I do have a full set of the Lightfast,you will love these too,they bland and layer really beautifully and also go great over makers too. I do have the castle arts Kandinsy set, because the colours appealed to me and he's also an artist I love as well,but I love that they themed sets to known artists,a great idea. I have the Tri tone pencils too and love the effects you can get with these,tend to use them in mixed meia pieces,they are fun,but actually I would say they are great for the serious artist too. I have full set of the Carb Othello pastel pencils too and love these over watercolours,I would say to keep them,and think about using them with another medium,I don't use them on their own,but in combination with watercolours they are brilliant,and theey are not as fragile as other pastel pencil ranges.I struggle to find good metallic pencils still,no-ones pefected them yet for me, though Derewent did make a small set of watersoluable metallics that I loved and were lovely, but they retired them some time ago,that said I did get all the Holbien metallic pencils open stock,and have yet to try these. I think budget friendly pencils may be better for works you are going to scan.But I also love woodless pencils too and have some by Arteza,Derwent and Caran d,Ache,I ave them in watercolour and wax/oil based,but the slight down side to the woodless watercolour pencils, if your hands get a litle sweaty they melt onto your skin,so you end up with rainbow skin!!1, but woodless encils are ggreat for mixed media pieces.Loving the blue nails and the blue eyeshadows too!!! I might try the carb othello pencils over the Art 'n' Fly markers to see what kind of effects I can get...... I think a video on all your watercolour pencils would be great, I tend to favour this type of pencil and have loved this type for years but it would be great to hear your take on them as a medium,but budget watercolour pencils are not great. I think Derwent and Caran D'Arche are the better brand for watercolour pencils that I have found from using them for a while.
@ArtistJane3 жыл бұрын
I’m now going to have to try the carb othello over watercolors! Thank you Matt!
@avirtualcanvas75843 жыл бұрын
@@ArtistJane I discovered this by experimenting in my sketchbooks they also work over watercolour pencils too.I wouldn't use them on their own,but as a companion to another media they are brilliant for adding another layer of depth to an image. If youu have any reccomendations for a good brand of metallic pencils let me know,as metallics are a staple in my work and I'd love to have a good cahce of metallic pencils that are opaque and layer well.I do have a ful set of the Derwent Inktense blocks,but again I use them over watercolors and in mixed media pieces they are perfect for that.

@@ArtistJane I recently recieved as a gift from my friend Jade, a coloured pencil artist a set of 80 encils by a brand called Marco,they are a chinese made brand. The Set is called Marco Tribute Masters Collection. The packaging they come in is really stunning,there is an outer box beautifully printed and inside this the pencils are in sets of ten in a book type box inside the main box,each one is themed to an artist,the books have a magnetic closure and inside the pencils are set in a foam bed.the sets are: Monet-purples & pinks,Degas-browns & ochres,Klimt-yellows and golds,Matisse-Reds & oranges,Renoir-Greens,Cezanne-darker greens-aquas,Van gough-darker blues & darker purples,Escher-greys and blacks.They are rich and really pigmented and layer beautifully,my set was a gift but they retail around £60.The whole set is a true thing of beauty it really is,for something so stunningly packaged the price is amaxzing!.As soon as I unwrapped them I thought I must tell Jane about these!!!. Also a recent discovery you might want to try out,Derwent have made a great 100% cotton paper especially for their lightfast pencils,but I think it would work as a good ground for all pencils,its a slightly off white colour,so far it's a great surface to work with.

I have been eyeing those Deli pencils. I am a colorist, but I do draw as well. I am not a professional artist though. I have been drawing for years before I ever picked up a coloring book. I love coloring though, it's one of my favorite hobbies. I placed an order at Blick back in February for some open stock of the Lightfast and I have received about 8 of the pencils so far, of the 20 I ordered. They are trickling in slowly but surely. Some of them say they won't be in stock until June. They have been on backorder for awhile. I talked to Blick the other day and the CSR said she believes Derwent is behind due to Covid, and the UK shutting down a few months back. I do LOVE them. They are similar to Luminance imo, and I almost think I like the LIghtfast better? I picked up the Brutfuner's a couple weeks ago. After watching countless reviews I caved and got them. I don't really own any budget pencils (besides Crayola), so these are my first set. I I actually like them, they're pretty good. I loove my Inktense. I don't give them enough love though, but I really do love them. You might be stressed coloring because of the kind of book your are coloring in. Kerby's books are notoriously busy, with lots going on. Trying to pick a cohesive color palette with so much happening is not easy to do, at least not for me. LOL Thank you for sharing all your colored pencils, loved seeing your collection!

I would prefer to pay a little more for really decent pencil trays to be included in the tin. and in this case I wish they would have left enough room and tray in the tin to include those other pencils that were out of stock at the time. I have collection fever for things like this.

Do you use different branded pencils on the same drawing or are you pretty religious about sticking to the same brand? I appreciate mixing the use of oil and wax based pencils might not work well.
@ArtistJane3 жыл бұрын
It depends on the drawing. I typically will mix brands as needed for each piece, but if I’m doing a review, I will stick to the brand I’m reviewing. I hope that helps!

@@ArtistJane great, thanks for replying. I usually do graphite sketches but am getting more into coloured portraits. I love polychromos but haven’t recently bought prismacolours and have just bought Derwent inktense pencils. It’s good to experiment 😊

I do not trust my own native land. It's most like Polychrome had their product produced in China and the manufacture took the formula and made a knock off brand. I never had good luck with ebay.
