My Crazy Hike on a Volcano 🇮🇩 Mount Bromo, Indonesia

Today we hike Mount Bromo, a volcano in Indonesia. This was one of the craziest, coolest places I've ever been. At Mt Bromo, you can make your own experience, and hike to get incredible views of the volcano before crossing the sea of sand to hike on the volcano. When you walk around the rim of it, there aren't rails or fences blocking it off, it's just pure true nature. It was one of my best experiences in Indonesia, and if you come to East Java, you have to go to Mount Bromo. (This is a remastered, re-edited video that I made over a year ago..In case you find it familiar)

I tried hiking all the way around bromos rim but the path basically disappeared to the point where I was scooting along on mi bum with the “rim” in between legs. I eventually had to go down on the side to make it, because there was no longer a path. I saw some footprints but they disappeared the further I went around. Was this your experience ? Thanks !

I know that was an amazing experience. I was there 25 years ago when it looked a bit different. It has erupted since then and the crater you see is deeper and very different than the one I saw in 1993. What fascinated me were the words that were written in the ash down in the crater. Looks from your video that you cannot get down there anymore but it is cool to see how it looks now. Thanks for the vid.

Around the far side you can go a part of the way down. About two hundred metres, to stand not too far from the vertical drop. At least that was the case a few years ago. Not that it's recommended, but the view is spectacular.

It sure isn't nice - those lack of railings...not going up there again. I have a few times. Good photography. I love it that you walked it...to Penanjakan View Point rather than going by Jeep. My husband tells me that he has walked around it with a couple of my sons.

Yes, I remember those steps! And a very strong smell, but more the sharp, eye-stinging and nose-burning smell of sulphur dioxide than of rotten eggs. That crater's changed a lot since I was there in 2003. When I was there the slopes went down smoothly to a small ledge from under which a ceaselessly roiling, coiling plume of vapour was rising (but little or no sound). Whereas there now seems to be that enormous vertical-walled crater within a crater. If you lost your footing now you'd definitely not be coming back! A very vertiginous path!

Yes never too much cash, and I’d just keep it in your front pocket so you can’t easily be pickpocketed. I think that’s fine, and I don’t think money bags and money belts are needed. I’ve never needed them

I must have missed the "crazy" bit. this is the hike around the rim that every tourist can do. Try hiking up the mountains around the back of Bromo, then you'll see what a crazy hike is. Nice clickbait though.
