This happens way more common than you would expect. There's actually an I Survived episode with a woman that was homeless and pregnant. I think a woman offered her a job then kidnapped her for several weeks while torturing her so she couldn't escape. When rhe day came for her to cut out this woman's baby she finally was able to escape woth her stomach sliced open. The woman tried to make other people think she was mentally ill. But as she lived in an apartment an older male called her in and because she was wearing dark clothes and holding her stomach nobody noticed the blood until the EMT rolled her pants down and literally everything was falling out. Both thankfully survived.

I was about to say, Lia is actually the one "flaunting" her heartbreak and child-less-ness, she brings it up constantly and as a rebuttal to other people just living their lives. To flaunt a marriage or pregnancy would require bringing it up every time Lia tried to talk about her disappointments in her life (which she's allowed to do, just in a healthy way). Or, smugly commenting about it CONSTANTLY with the undertone of competitively bragging. You're absolutely right that just existing isn't a violation of someone else's rights.

I've heard the second story before, and from memory by 'old copy' of The Great Gatsby, she actually meant 'first edition'. Which I think changes things, because I'm not sure people realise quite how expensive something like that actually is. When the BF says it's more expensive than his car, he's *not* joking. Depending on things like condition, whether the dust jacket is intact, etcetera, it could have a value of somewhere between thousands of dollars, and *tens* of thousands of dollars. There are literal van Goughs that have sold for less than first edition copies of the Great Gatsby. Lesser van Goughs that you've probably never heard of, but still original stuff by van Gough. And I think everyone's reactions would be *very* different if the guy had got her a minor van Gough and she was claiming it was just sentimental. Because people know just how valuable those things are. There is a point where a gift becomes so expensive that it's reasonable to feel a bit weird about it.

I honestly thought Nate had been lying at first- behavior change, phone upside down, i assumed the reason Nate had been so quick to let OP see how to retrieve messages was just an attempt at calling a bluff, or he assumed that she might be wrong. I did hold off a little, after all I thought that maybe it had just been a bias from her that affected the wording, but it seemed more and more like Becca, while drunk as she seemingly always is, had been taken advantage of. I did consider that she seemed to be more of an angry drunk rather then a 'friendly' drunk, but it seemed like a small distinction since I don't have experience with drunken people beyond 'shoplifting drunk' peeps. At the end when Becca confirmed it was her who lied, it was some mystery novel shit cause suddenly it clicked why she had asked if OP saw the messages before saying anything of her lies. Honestly surprised how quickly her plan must've come together- if I had a romantic partner who sa'd my friend, no matter how shitty the friend I'd start giving them a lot of attention, help, etc. Which is precisely what Becca was after. Not to give her too much credit, she was such a wicked brat to think she was entitled to wreck a relationship that had been in the stage where proposals had been considered because OP treated her boyfriend, well, like a boyfriend and giving Nate priority over her drunken 'pal'. Becca, if somehow you're reading this, please look into any Alch Anon groups around you. Chewing gum can sometimes help deter cravings. Friends are invaluable, but take some responsibilities over yourself and wellbeing, learn to stand on your own. Seek therapy if your response to your friend being in a good relationship is perceived as a threat. Don't manipulate people into being your friends or you'll end up surrounded by friends who you can't rely on. You'll just drag people down with you if you keep this destructive behavior. And if by some miracle you read this random ass comment and decide through yet another miracle to listen and improve yourself by changing, keep in mind that no amount of self improvement makes you entitled to the friendships you scorned or the bridges you burnt. Trust is earned, and you have to work on those bridges. Some might not be fixable at all, but the point is to try. Be your best you, or (to put it rather bluntly) all you'll get is pity.

Yeah, the more Becca's behaviour was explained the more I thought "why are you even still friends with her?" Like if Nate actually had cheated (and given Becca's intoxication he would have also just assaulted her) that relationship would obviously end, but OP and Becca's relationship was already so beyond toxic and needed to end. Only one of those relationships was ever salvageable at that point, and luckily OP seems to be working on salvaging the right one. OP was just too acclimated to tiptoeing around an abusive drunk to see that.

Proposal prank. Make sure the proceeds of the house sale go to yourself, OP, or to someone specific, like mom. Sublet the house to someone. Half of it is yours. You tenant pays you and you pay your portion of the mortgage. apparently the receipt was in the box and based on commentary the BF sad it cost the same amount as a car. now based on google the edition she had can cost as low as $6000 and as high as $150,000 (at the time if the original post). for argument sake lets say it was a valuation between $6,000 - $10,000 for the book (low condition) would any BF/GF feel comfortable about their GF/BF getting a present from a "friend" for that value not even speculating if it was a high quality copy? also reading the original post it comes across as OP has some semblance of feelings for Logan and Logan knows it.

Obviously she doesn’t seem to know whether or not she is interested in a committed relationship and she probably isn’t ready for one. I don’t know if anyone else thinks this but it kind of feels like Logan has done nothing to counteract or set boundaries with Oop that would make their relationship easier, which is probably why she can’t hold a stable relationship. She doesn’t seem to realize her relationship with Logan can be seen as off putting to others. I’m a bit more suspicious about Logan than Oop tbh considering he was the one who bought that gift. Obviously Matt probably shouldn’t have expected Oop to return it considering it held sentimental value to her but I don’t think Matt is crazy for having concerns about Logan. I sincerely doubt that. Her own mother admitted that she treats guys as disposable and she herself has said how her longest relationship was matt at 7 months while her and logan are borderline dating. I think what far far more likely is that logan keeps her "in the rotation" and spooks off her boyfriends with expensive gifts while she wants logan to be exclusive but he isn't going to make that move and she's too childish to ask. She constantly talks about logan in a romantic and longing way. Regardless Logan is 100% her number one and logan clearly likes having her around without a boyfriend

They need to have really excellent security systems with all the bells and whistles for their home and for the baby's grandmother. When we had our daughter, we were very young. I was 20, my husband was 22. At the same time we were having our child, my husband’s brother and his wife were struggling with fertility issues and, at some point, we were approached and asked to give our daughter up to them. Let me be very very clear. Children are not like puppies, you don’t just re-home them! If the parents haven’t brought up WANTING to give up a child, DON’T EVER EVER SUGGEST that a baby should be “given” to someone else. Parenthood, the bond a new parent feels for their baby, the relationship being formed between mom & baby, dad & baby, and mom & dad as new parents, it’s sacred and special, if your little family isn’t supported, that can make everything so much harder. I would cut out anyone who isn’t supportive. At least create some boundaries around yourselves.
