I’m my theater experience, if you have two students which were roughly equal or close to it, the older student had precidence over the younger one, as they would soon graduate and college theater is brutal- so most teachers want all their students to experience as much as they can. If the senior is far worse, or did not me meet the physical characteristics of the character (Script has a running gag about the lead’s short stature, so actor cannot be tall)- The younger actor got the part. This is very common in high schools across the country. However, this is NOT an excuse for seniors to exclusively receive parts, nor a valid reason to ignore underclassmen.

I had a teacher like that well kinda . Everytime a student would miss behave or stand up from their seats or ask a question like "Can I go to the toilet " she would grab their shirt and make them look like it was pulled out of a dogs throat .My class mates did not seem impressed by what she was telling them. BUT one Day my mom came to our school because my teacher asked me if my mom could tell us about her Country ( Poland ) Anyway when my mom came a student switched seats with out asking the teacher and she asked him to sit down a few times but when my mom said "Your teacher said something " she said that while looking at him . He nodded and went back to his seat . Honestly who doesn't listens to my mom tbh she is teriffying well at least her eyes are. Anyway another story is that one Day my "BFF" was giving me notes while at class obvi. My teacher saw a note a grabbed my face and said "DONT DO THAT" then I said "but she started " I pointed at my "BFF " and she did the same thing to her ,we stopped and the class went on . The next story I DIDNT know that hapend but my "BFF " told me this that on The last day our teacher let us play football ( soccer) my "BFF" said that when she went to the bathroom she found our teacher crying so she gave Her a hug. It wasnt her fault that the students were brats and honestly I kinda liked her . BUT i think that she is not teaching anymore well at least where I live I think (Cyprus) And btw that all hapend in 4th grade

My 5th grade teacher taught one of the guys who made the I Love You virus and she bragged about it in class. She'd also pull my classmates to the middle of the classroom (our desks were arranged like a U so that the teacher can stand in the middle and be seen by everyone) and yell/punish them in front of everyone. She did that to me and got even angrier when I started crying. She also ended up stealing a lot of money and she apparently quit teaching at my school after that (though I'd like to believe she was fired).

When I was given a role in a play at my high school for their Little Shop of Horrors, I was ecstatic and excited, but when I saw myself, I was ashamed. I had the lowest of the lowest roles on the grid. I was the one in the chorus. I played one of the plants at the final song - and I played one of the poor people on skid row - and that was it. When I learned that the show would be placed in the school's yearbook, I excitedly begged my mom to buy me a copy, thinking that my name would be mentioned somewhere in the performance, but I wasn't mentioned at all - not even in text. I felt so ashamed. I had a lovely singing voice that my mom describes as "an angel's" and I didn't get any part that showed any importance.

Yeah same here and I hate it when people say “ all parts are important!” Get real when you are cast in the ensemble you don’t get to have the stage to yourself to truly exhibit what you can do, you blend in with a bunch of people and people won’t remember you. All parts serve a purpose but get real, if one person from the esnsemble was missing then it wouldn’t be an issue but if one of the main characters were missing that would be a bigger issue.

The theatre club in my school was putting on a play, me and a few other girls auditioned for the lead role. This sixth grader got the lead instead. I am perfectly fine with people her age taking the lead, but the thing is, she had no idea how to belt, couldn't do any of the lead's choreography, and never talked loud enough when we were practicing lines.

Let's be honest, for every person that has had a good experience in public school arts class, there's 3 or 4 who don't. And I had a similar situation with a teacher who didn't get that I was working backstage in hopes to have her cast me next year, but no, she literally tells me to give up after I ask why I didn't get in the next year. And I stupidly quit because of her. But I got back in years later and had better luck with people who actually liked what I did and saw something to work with.

She keeps to herself a lot, and doesn't have any friends" So yeah, the best thing to do in this situation is to purposely exclude her from all social interactions in the Theater Class/Club, thus ensuring that she definitely won't make any friends! How the Hell did this woman become a highschool teacher? I wouldn't even trust her to teach preschoolers, this is a person who shouldn't be an educator and definitely shouldn't even be allowed near children!

I auditioned for Ursula fir The Little Mermaid in middle school and my teacher said that my audition was the best she saw. I ended up getting cast one of Ariel's sisters. She then told me she didn't choose me as Ursula because I wasn't white. More specifically Greek. 95% of the main cast was Greek. She showed favoritism. Lots of it. I never did drama after that. I was part of the stage crew in high school my senior year, but that was it.

I have a teacher who's like this right now, she will flip out over the tiniest thing, and sometimes she'll be nice, but most of the time she'll act like a raging wicked witch and blow up in your face. I've reported her to a few teachers I trust, but it doesn't look like anyone can do anything.
