Just speaking from personal experience, I like seeing people tackle this game for their first time not because their scared, but because they have a sense of wonderment and confusion that's not present in alot of modern games. Pro tip, hold a fish if one of the stalkers is coming towards you and they will eat the fish instead of biting you. And the point of the game is to escape the planet. Best of luck, I look forward to seeing more, and honestly I'm shocked you don't have more subs, this is a wonderful channel and I look forward to sticking around and watching every upload!

There is an ending to the game, along with a story. Its more than meets the eye at first but try your best to explore around and find new blueprints with the scanner. As someone who loved the game and enjoys watching other people explore (and in a few cases totally miss out on *cough butch cough*) the same experience I just want to point out two non-spoiler pieces of advice: 1 - don't panic. If you're uncomfortable doing something, wait until you can do it with a steady head. I can't tell you how many people - me included - who dart around nervously and miss things which end up taking way more time to revisit, which leads to... 1 - scan everything and read all of your PDA info. I know it sounds like it's not exciting content, but its absolutely necessary for finding your way forward in the game. As much as you think people want to just watch you suffer, way more want to watch you discover the puzzle that unfolds.

It's your discovery of what's going on - and seeing how your brain works. You need the scanner to build up your data bank of usable resources - you're missing out a bit on things that are plentiful but you don't know how to use them until you scan them. You're not getting base building because you're missing certain components - the game will lead you - if you let it.

The only spoiler I’ll give is this: to find a way to get OFF the planet, and the only ticket/blueprint to getting off the planet lies within the Aurora (aka big spooky scary ship where ya died last time). - The only tips I will give, at least for the Aurora bit, is to go into the front where it’s all exploded and damaged. There’s two entrance points: lower entrance (propulsion cannon needed) and top entrance along a big incline and a metallic bridge. Most boxes blocking doorways/passages (except for lower entrance) through the top section can be “parkoured” over. Make sure you have at least a Laser Cutter, Repair Tool, Radiation Suit, your extra fire extinguisher, plenty of space in your inventory, and a knife to wield in the water /inside/ the ship. There are air pockets too, so you can breathe easy.

Great video once again ! Concerning Subnautica, the things I enjoy the most while watching you is honestly the editing (which is absolutely really well made !) and your reactions when playing. I have absolutely no problems with you taking a break for Star Wars and I will also be watching you play this one if it's what you want and if that allow us to have the best quality possible in each videos ! If you're able to do a bit of the two at the same time, more props to you. If not, it's honestly not a big deal ! You were asking for the goal of the game and without giving you a major spoil, your main goal is to escape the planet that you crashed on. You were doing very good by going to Lifepod 3 ! Continue to listen to the messages on the radio for next little missions like that and explore around them. Everything will be more clear doing that. You can also continue to lookup on the wiki like you were doing, because this is a good reflex for that game ! P.S : I don't really like pop tarts anymore but I do remember liking the strawberry ones ! Peace ✌

Soooooooooooo 1. Dont be scared of these things with the long mouth near the life pot. Just give them a single hit with your knife and they will run for there life. 2. Make sure to keep an eye on the radio because u need it to progress in the game 3. There are many fragments in the save shallows so just keep an eye on the ground an you see plenty 4. For the base please dont use these air pipes or whatever they are called. Just build a sonar pannel and the base will generate its own energy and oxygen and stuff 5. You found a cyclops fragment at the auora. The cyclops is a massive submarine that gonna be pretty useful later on but before you even think of building one of those you better get the sea moth (A small ship that you probably know because u can even see it coverd up by the text in the thumbnail of your first subnautica vid). It probably even makes you feel saver in the ocean

For most Subnautica players, the joy and thrill of discovery is what makes this game so great. The scenery is beautiful and scary, some things that seem harmless can be dangerous and things that look or sound super scary are actually peaceful and a sign of safety. :D Since I can't play the game again for the first time, I like watching other people dive into it and slowly figure out how it works. Don't stress about progression, the main goal of the game is simply to get off the planet alive in the end. The first time I played it, I was so freaked out by the deeper water I didn't dive deeper than 50 m for hours. The nice thing is, the farther you progress in this game the more tools you get to make it easier and safer. Last small tip - the Stalkers in the kelp forest are way less aggressive if you put away whatever tool you're holding.

Super glad you’re taking on this challenge - new here but I’d love to watch more of this content. Your goal is to leave the planet but there’s a few things you need to take care of before you can do that. There are two islands you can visit that are shielded by cloud cover - you can see the clouds from your pod. Definitely work to get a mobile vehicle bay and a seamoth - as someone with a great fear of the ocean that definitely helped me in the game. You can also get sonar for it which helps you really visualize the area around you and the creatures. There are some other vehicles you can eventually gain access to as well such as the Cyclops which is a large submarine. Once you have a laser cuter, propulsion canon, and a seamoth you’re pretty much ready to go to the Aurora. There’s a hole on the front side where you can sneak in without going head first at the leviathan. You’ll get a lot of items and a majorly important game advancement from the Aurora but SEARCH THROUGHLY. If you don’t - you’ll have to go back. Make sure to keep listening to the radio. It’ll give you more life pods but also some story elements. Take your time. This game is terrifying in a lot of ways but super well done and beautiful. You got this. Also - There are maps available of the terrain online and you’ll find different resources in each area. For example - sandstone is typically found in the grassy plateau and creepvine areas. Knowing what areas have what resources will help advance the game exponentially. I highly suggest a scanner room and a hud chip upgrade. Very very helpful for resource hunting.

Props to you for playing THIS game with your particular phobia, I share it too, but to a lesser degree. People love an underdog, but they also love watching people suffer (I think it's called "schadenfreude"). "Pro" tip (I just started this game too- - scary as shit), fish keeps indefinitely if you don't cook it, but it degrades fast if it's cooked. Plus, if you wait too long to eat it absolutely demolishes your hydration. So eat it soon after you cook it, or use salt to preserve it for storage.

I definitely think adding the word "Thalassophobia" and everyone with Thalassophobia jumped to watch this helped tremendously. I have it mildly as well and I'll literally freak out if the water gets black. Its terrifying and almost paralyzing. Like almost impending doom. But its fun to see others in the pain as well. Especially with this beautiful game. I hope you continue with the game. I'll try to watch the stream on Friday (if it's still happening) and I'm really enjoying the content.

Helpful tips: 1. If you look towards the front of the ship, there is a large cloud near the water. That's an island with story stuff (there is a big scary Reaper, though) 2. Island to the back of the ship has base parts and food 3. I know it's scary, but go towards the red grass zone it has a lot of useful things and blueprints 4. Pack supplies (water, medkits, food etc.) Food like fish does spoil though 5. You can grow acid mushrooms, deep shrooms and other things in exterior grow beds, and you can grow marblemelons, latern trees, and Chinese potatoes in interior grow beds 6. Limestone outcrops give (titanium and copper) Sandstone ones give (lead, gold, and silver) Shale give (Diamonds, lithium, and gold)

Hi man, you can go to the Aurora at any time, but you don't do it from the back, you do it from the side/ front, not straight from the front b/c you will encounter another ripper. These are 10 tips that will help you in the beginning: 1. Get yourself a knife (You already did which is awesome) 2. Build your diving equipment (Oxygen tanks, fins, etc) 3. Build a Scanner 4. Build a Flashlight 5. Build a Repair tool 6. Build a habitat builder 7. Collect copper and silver and a ton of titanium 8. Build a SeaGlide (use the scanner to scan for the parts and get the blueprint. They will be around shipwrecks and vines) 9. Most small predators will go away with a knife slash. 10. Build a vehicle fabricator (you need to find and scan the parts) to build yourself a sea moth. After this, it's all you brother. Oh, read your tablet data and blueprints, that way you know how to build certain things and know what is happening. There's a story behind all this.

you can get fragments from inside the boxes you keep finding, make sure you look at the box on all sides for an opening, you can also get water without using salt for bleach by turning bladder fish into water. The endgame is getting of the planet and you need to get into the aurora to do that, you also have to go extremely deep underwater, luckily you don't have to go to the void since that's just the edge of the map

Wow, your videos are really impressive, not just for your sub count but also just in general! My country doesn't really have poptarts though...so I have to disappoint on that front :) I for one am not one to enjoy people's suffering, but videos like this cause a lot of emotions for the player. This naturally attracts more viewers because deep, genuine emotions are 100x more interesting than the usual slightly overacted, engaging, flashy gaming clips. Plus, even though you're terrified...somewhere you're still curious to see what there is to do, find more, build more, explore more of the game :) When you enjoy something, the very best feeling is watching someone else experience it like you did, for the first time, and to simply follow their journey :) So you really don't have to worry about how "interesting" an episode is, or how there's not enough content, not enough funny one-liners or "progress" made. With games that have been out for as long as this one, people are mostly just watching you for _you_ - your reactions, your emotions, your personality and your own personal way of playing the game. What area will you choose to go to first, what will you notice immediately and what will you instinctively avoid? All of those are things that make a playthrough unique. Now, I think people have already given you a lot of tips about the game, so I'll instead list a few aspects that made me feel more secure when playing games I found to be scary, rational or otherwise :) - Prepare. Bring resources you may need when you're going somewhere new: water, food (you can cure meat with salt so it doesn't spoil), med-kits, maybe a spare battery or two. The knife is a good early weapon, technically you can kill every foe in the game with it and many of the early ones will just give up on you as soon as they get hurt, so don't hesitate to use it! Plan long journeys ingame in a way that allows you to travel familiar areas in the dark and leave the unknown for daytime. Get more tech - putting something in between you and the monsters will help distance yourself and your brain from the danger. Maybe a little submarine? :) - Turn the sound down some. This game is loud as FUCK, and especially the bad boys in game tend to be set the loudest. I don't know if the sound settings in this game are separated into multiple aspects like creature sounds specifically, but regardless...do yourself a favor and turn it down just a _little_ if things get really bad. More sound is more stress! - You've been doing good with pausing to calm down, definitely keep doing that. You can also get up and grab a quick drink to reset your mind and body a little by walking around and thinking about something else! Lastly, I'm happy your channel is growing fast and I'm _especially_ happy that _I_ found it of course, but don't obsess over the numbers :) As a statistics person, much of these early fluctuations could be completely out of your control for all you know! Use metrics like subs and views as a sometimes helpful resource - don't beat yourself up over them :) Sure it's funny seeing people get scared and do things you find interesting, but it's not so funny when they lose sleep to their content or spend days at a time on edge because they put themselves under so much stress and pressure! And since you wanted to know: I think you're naturally funny, but also quite clever and very logical, so that's why I enjoy watching you :) I hope you have a blast with this channel and keep growing with it

The idea here is that you're *supposed* to be confused until you do the first few objectives in your PDA, specifically repairing the radio. Once you do that, your radio and PDA will guide you towards natural progression locations. Also, build a Scanner and scan everything. You'll get useful info on almost everything. The interest in watching a game like Subnautica is not to see people be good at it, it's to see people discover things and react to the game their own unique way. Not necessarily the scares, because that should go away soon. It's people learning to enjoy and appreciate the game. And that sounds vague, bit there's way more to it for people who get out of their own way.

Seaglide fragments are found in the small square cargo containers. Those containers have fragments for other equipment you'll need like the Mobile Vehicle Bay, etc. There is one Seaglide fragment that is not in a crate and that was outside the life pod you found with the compass data. You were chased off before you noticed it. You can make Medkits from fiber mesh with the Fabricator in your life pod. Always keep your health at 100% if you can. I don't have thalassophobia and this game was terrifying. You do eventually get somewhat used to it, even the people with the phobia to some extent. I recently started watching another random low subscriber youtube that had the same fear, although his is a lot worse than yours. This game is one of my favorite games and generally well loved. Seeing someone play it for the first time, AND be even more scared of it is entertaining. Endgame I won't spoil, but there is a whole story to this game that you will eventually figure out through data pads/locations/ etc. Once you go to one of the first story locations you will find out that there is a lot more to the game than just looting and building.

My best advice is to start scanning everything. If you look to the right bottom corner you will see a scanner icon appear anytime you can scan something, reading about everything you scan really helps you. don't read further in case you consider it spoilers, but I will give some light advice for scanning blueprints. most of the blueprints are (unfortunately) skunk to the bottom so anytime you see debris look around and you will find these box-like objects, one side is usually open and a fragment is found inside (seaglide for example) hope that helps

The reasons that I like to watch others play survival games are related to the fact that I like to play them as well. Without going all Sociology and behavioral sciences, I think it's a group dynamics related thing. Also, when I'm just watching I'm interested in how they handle this or that situation, which by necessity includes the high stress end of the spectrum. So there's an element of relating to another person who seems to, at the very least, share this interest with me. That's the tribal, or in group dynamic. While it certainly would be truthful to say there _are_ those people who like to see others in distressful straits, it would also be reductive to generalize and say everyone is that way. Some are simply observing the experience the player is having from an empathetic perspective, i.e., kind of like the ingroup sharing from above. And some are drawn to this type of viewing experience for several reasons including those listed; some of which we likely couldn't explain if asked. It always comes back to the subconscious doesn't it?...woo woo...Then there are those people who don't even analyze their reasons. Maybe for them it merely feels good. Sand Sharks are those psycho medium sized fish that you saw going...well psycho in the red grass area with white sand. Among other resources you get salt, quartz, and sandstone outcrops there. In the outcrops you can get gold, silver ore, or lead. Anyway, back to the the psycho Sand Sharks; they're little bitches. Hack 'em! They'll run away crying. It's fun. Just like the Crash Fish and the Stalkers. They're the long ones who live in the kelp forest. Also, I'm pretty sure that's the species that keeps bothering you at your life pod. This was fun but now my brain hurts, so that's it. One word of advice, make many health kits.

I don't have thalassophobia, but I have a combination of phobias that make it equally hard. My fear of heights make me unable to traverse the ocean, when I'm in between the surface and the ground, and my fear of darkness make me unable to go into the areas the sun can't reach, or don't have a flashlight. So a big open space with no light is bad, because I am unable to tell what's up or down, unless it's a game where the jump is always up, of course.

The further away from the lifepod the more dangerous the fauna is (in general) there are NO places near the lifepod that are dangerous. When you get closer to the edge of the map every other biome has a leviathan predator but there are still safe places at the edge of the map. The point of the game is to explore. there are veichles that will help alot with exploring deeper into the unknown. seaglide fragments are most often found around lifepod 3 and they hint at it in the radio message, but they can also be found around smal wrecks on the edges of the starting biome often in smal boxes

I'm gonna try to not spoil much and I know someone probably already put an end game thing, but I'mma do this anyways and here's my advice. You will need to go deeper to get to then end game. To help you along the story, make sure to check your radio, explore deeper waters and surface waters (I know its terrifying but you got this), and listen to your PDA. If it helps, there is a bed and submarine you can use a mobile base you can eventually make. At the end of the day, it is your play through and if its too much for you, its all good. No one will blame you if you do need to playthrough short. Make sure you take care of yourself.

That’s amazing to realize that if you had a lot of subscribers before looking to play at this game, you would not have the excitement to try this game knowing your fear. And with this first success, you get more subscribers and that drive you to go further. Not easy to be brave, mission accomplished 😊 subnautica that’s a lot of noise under water but you have your first vehicle, you will be fine. The back and the front of the ship are to avoid, but the prize in the ship deserves to be conquer. Gigantic armor!!

DO NOT GO INTO THE VOID. People are just cruel. I didn’t know I had this phobia until I started playing this game and notice that I wasn’t breathing normally and sweating a ton. The reason you are not finding much is that you are roaming around the same area you know is safe. (1)Stay away from the back of the Arora. If you are ready to go inside use the front. (2)Try to find the parts for the Seaglide, vehicle bay, Seamoth and Moonpool. The Seamoth will ease your feeling of dread a lot. (3)Build a habitat as this is home to chill and relax. The Kelp forest, Grassy plateau and Mushroom forest are fairly safe zones and are full of BPs and wrecks you can explore.
@UmbraBorealis
@UmbraBorealis Жыл бұрын
Hey, resident Subnut scholar here again. Sea Glide is usually close to your lifepod, either in the Creepvine forests or the red grassy plains. Sometimes finding stuff is hard because although the biomes are relatively in the same place, what's in them is, to some extend, randomly generated and there's no shame in looking up a map. To help clarify, everyone feels lost in the beginning of Subnautica. You really are just LOST on a planet you crashed on. You gain directives of where to go through radio transmissions of lifepods trying to contact you, leaving clues and upgrades and most of all, a potential rescue ship coming for you which...If the Aurora went down, you can make a good guess how that goes. This game does environmental storytelling really well. And don't worry! The deeper parts of the game are in fact not pitch black! 'The Void' is just the Ecological Deadzone AKA the end of the map so don't worry about that too much, the PDA even warns you that you're getting close to dangerous stuff a number of times so you can just back away. Caverns you'd need to traverse for progression are actually quite bright and if you DO ever deal with darkness, you have easy to obtain sonar upgrades for some of the vehicles with a big range which let you spot the cursed red devil snakes before they see you! As far as 'spoiling the story' goes, I flat out refuse to do that but there are two crucial, early game things that will help a LOT to piece a story together. The first is this: Watch for glowing green spots on any of the wildlife, spots that look unnatural and diseased. The second hint is check your radio until you hear from a ship called 'The Sunbeam' which will contact you several times and will eventually give you a spot on dry land (yay) to go to and wait for them and you should absolutely do that because it explains quite a bit about how you got there in the first place. The blueprints for a rocket away from the planet are in the Aurora, you get a radio transmission about this as well later on in the game which includes an access code, without that code you wont reach em. The Aurora has the big freaky dudes at the front and at the back, however they are deeper down and staying near the surface will usually let you bypass them (I say usually because this game is older and sometimes they glitch a little bit but their AI is not spectacular so again, you should be fine if you keep moving along the surface), I swear I've swam really close to them and it took them a solid minute for them to respond. Stay calm and don't sit still and you should breeze right through the majority of the game.

So since you asked for some help with what you need to do to progress, Basically you need to go as deep as possible... As you play through the game you'll get more radio messages which will lead you deeper and deeper into the world (which is kind of the "story progression") but in order to reach them you'll need to get better technology and upgrades. To do that you'll need to use the scanner tool to scan fragments of tech you find around the map and unlock blueprints to build more and more things, you can find a lot of them in and around the various wreckage from the Aurora scattered all over the place. As you get more stuff it'll be a little easier to figure it all out but I believe you'll get there : ) P.S: The reason people are saying you have balls of steel for going to the ship is because you aren't supposed to *swim* there, (Though you most certainly can) You're supposed to *drive* there. Also I would recommend you search for parts of the Scanner room, because it will make finding specific resources MUCH easier. P.P.S My favourite type of Poptarts is S'mores

Here is my for KZbin comment standards thorough analysis of why that last video did well. So I think the special appeal of the play through is a few factors. First of subnautica is just a game with a lot of things that lend itself quite well to watching on KZbin. There are story moments that you’ll get to see someone react to, it’s a frickin’ gorgeous game visually and just seeing someone else figure stuff out along the way, the discovery of it all. (That’s why I think people want to see your small aha moments as well where you realize how a mechanic works) Then there is the part that probably made your last video more popular. You being scared and afraid has a lot of appeal, similar to horror genre stuff. But as someone without that fear you can safely watch that while both feeling safe and getting insight into how that affects you (I’d say try describing what it feels like when you’re in a situation in the next video to scratch that viewer itch a bit) And then there’s the last part which is hoping you overcome your fear as a viewer, seeing you evolve as the play through progresses. The most exciting moments are of course those where you’re just at the edge of your comfort zone. Will you back down or face your fear? Overcoming your fear makes for worse entertainment in that situation in the future of course, because we’ve already seen you face it, but it does bring some satisfaction in the person growth department. Best of luck mate!
@frederiklenk7756

Reading through my comment I see I’ve switched up between ‘you’ the viewer and ‘you’ as in you. I hope it still makes sense 😂 If you’d like another game that has a similar appeal to subnautica for KZbin audiences I can highly recommend outer wilds. It’s a lot less water so not quite the viral quality with thalassophobia but it has a very dedicated fan base that love to watch blind play throughs. It’s a space adventure game that’s all about knowledge about the game world itself so it can really only be experience once, which is why fans want to get that first experience again vicariously. So look up nothing and I mean that, or as little as you can. It’s one of the best video game experiences out there and truly a piece of art that I recommend both on the merits of it being great for KZbin as a content creator and because I wish for more people to experience this beautifully crafted game

I recommend trying to avoid spoilers because the less you know about the game map, the more surprises it has waiting for you which will become the pinnacle clips of the series if you do make this a series (which I would watch since blind playthroughs of this game on top of people playing it with thalassophobia tends to be the most entertaining way to watch Subnautica in general). There is in fact an end, but if you don't know what it is or how to get there, that's good. Find the ending. The game will guide you as you explore.

Isn't the end game goal building a rocket and getting off the planet? (haven't played this game in a long time now, I remember there being some reason you cant do that easily and have to fix said issue to escape???) Favorite Poptart?... I am so basic. I like Strawberry, with no frosting. I think night time in the game looks so pretty. A lot of the plants and fish have this amazing glowing effect to them. You want to really freak yourself out, play this game in VR :D Watching a new player trying out something you love tends to be amusing. It is kinda like seeing it though some ones elses eyes for the first time. Try feeding those Stalkers fish :D (they also love to chew on metal scraps you find on the ground) Scan everything, fish, plants, fragments, any object to see if it is scannable. A lot of info pops up when you do. If I recall, using the light at night will attract dangerous fish faster than if you had no light on.

The thing about pretty much unknown channels shooting up in subscribers all of a sudden is the content they choose to try out. Basically every franchise, every game, every movie, every band every you name it has a following. And some are more culty than others. Besides being likeable (even a likeable asshole) and having entertaining editing the quickest way for unknown channels to get to a million subscribers asap is reacting to / playing the stuff people like in big numbers. If you react to bands like Nightwish, you'll get the Nightwish army watching you and subscribing. Same if you react to Jinjer - their fan base will show up to watch you because they wanna see people react to very specific stuff. Same thing if people watch Star Wars, Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter for the first time. Also games like Subnautica or even bigger like World of Warcraft have a huge following that you will attract if you react to / play stuff out of the franchise. It's rather logical in my opinion. But it's always sweet when people get so surprised that suddenly they gain a lot of views, likes and subs because they do something randomly on the side like Subnautica without being aware how many people that will attract. Also that comment was wrong. There is no entrance to the Aurora on the back just Reapers. The only two entrances are at the front. Gotta be quick to get to a landing point though.

There's two of them over there. One at the back, one at the front. And that is nowhere NEAR the worst thing you'll encounter in this game. Also, there's even better, safer, and faster forms of transportation than the Seaglide. The Cyclops is one of these. It's basically a big submarine. There's also the Seamoth, which is smaller, but faster. Why do people like watching this? It's fun to watch someone who knows nothing about something you know everything about learn. And also, yes, it's funny to watch other people freak out. Oh, and my favorite Poptart flavor? Chocolate Fudge.
