My crocheted ombré blanket is finished! Let’s review it! 2/19/2024
PATTERN INCLUDED BELOW!
It was 3 AM and I couldn’t sleep so I thought it was a great time to finish crocheting my blanket made with Lions Brand Mandela yarn. I think the blanket and itself and the stitching turned out beautiful, but the way the colors blended on the last third of the blanket I’m disappointed with. There is always a bit of gamble when selecting yarn. You crocheters and knitters know what I’m talking about!
But on the upswing, my daughter loves it and immediately adopted it!

Crochet Pattern - Crosshatch Blanket/Shawl Pattern
(multiple of 7 chs, customizable size)
Row 1: 2 dc in 3rd ch from hook, skip next 3 chs, sc in next chain, * ch 3, dc in next 3 chs, skip next 3 chs, sc in next ch; repeat from * across
Row 2: (right side) - ch 3, turn; 2 dc in first sc, * skip next 3 dc, sc in top of next ch-3, ch 3, dc in next 2 chs and in next sc; repeat from * across to last 3 sts, skip next 2 dc, sc in top of turning ch.
Repeat Row 2 for pattern

oh man the ombre colors / the pattern and work you did i want to say first off is lovely! but the yarn itself i used months ago as i was so excited at first to start my project and it was such a heart wreck lol , i hated it because of the color tones did not work out as i imagined. i will never get that kind of yarn and color tones ever again. live and learn lol :)

I appreciate your candid opinion. I love about 3/4 of the blanket, when all the colors matched up and flowed. When the strands challenged me, I became disappointed. I didn’t work with a specific pattern, it’s custom sized about 6ft - 3 or 4 ft. I wanted something long and narrow for the sofa.

That blended effect between colors is something I find much more beautiful than precise edges between colors! Probably because I paint, and that blend can be difficult to get. But your blanket is gorgeous, blended or not! 😊

I paint as well, and usually I’m right with you … I want to see the blend. To get 2/3 through with a change in pattern disappointed me. But 9 times out of 10, I need to see colors blending. I’m glad you watched my story. I hope you enjoyed it.
