I’ve been messing about on my own to speed up my routine. I’m old and creaky. Minutes matter! Yes, some things hurt, but shorter sessions of styling really help, so speed is key. Even old people can appreciate their curls. ❤

Thank you, so much for this! A real game changer for my wavy/curly hair! I didn’t use the name brand products you used but I did use products that have the same purpose. I also used a diffuser but not a Dyson (I’m too cheap) but I turned off the dryer whenever I went in and out of the hair to help reduce frizz. The results are the best my hair has ever looked! Keep those tutorials coming… I’m addicted!

This has been a fabulous addition to my routine- thanks so much for this! To keep my section I’ve just finished adding gel to from getting mixed with the new section I’m about to style, I take a smaller claw clip and gently close it around the sections I just done to keep it from mixing with the new one. Works great!

I was sceptical as I thought this would make the curls at the back of the head really flat & thought after I brushed/styled when flipped over that it looked quite limp but WOW!!! I am blown away by the results. After diffusing & shaking out the roots, my hair has more volume & is more curly than when I usually brush by individual curls & saves half the time!!! You can also finger coil individual pieces once flipped back after brushing/styling. Amazing video & so helpful!! Also love your Instagram page ❤️

I'll definitely be trying this method again. Excited to see what the result will be with some more patience (and product)!

It's great to see this as a start-to-finish video! I have a question - during the flip section brushing, you brush your first section from over the hair, and the other 2 sections from under the hair. Why is that?
@sophiemariecurly2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I'm glad it's helpful! I wanted to be as detailed as possible! so I brush the first section on the front of the hair because (when upright) this layer falls back nicely. I brush the other layers the other way simply because I find it easier to gather the section and brush underneath (rather than over my arm) Not sure if that makes sense - it's hard to describe in writing haha

For your first You Tube video this was amazing! Thank you for your tips and tricks I have curly hair too and some of your techniques I been doing myself too. Please continue to make your videos. Also I agree about the back pain whew I sit down periodically when diffusing. It's a good thing my father is a Chiropractor. hehehe. Do you always diffuse? Can you do an air dry method too? Also do you ever flatiron your hair? I haven't flat ironed for years, but am thinking about it. What would you recommend for heat protection and technique? Thanks again.

@elizebeauty2 жыл бұрын
Hey!!! I am so glad that you shared this because trying to follow a reel on Instagram is very hard when there are so many steps 😂 Today was my first attempt though!!!! I won’t say I smashed it first time because that’s a big fat lie loooool and I’m not quite there yet but practice makes perfect right? 🙈 My hair is sooooooo long (too long) so for me to brush it through is tough but also because I think it desperately needs cutting. I get on better dry brushing my hair before washing so I did that first but I have new patches of hair growing randomly and other places that I’m losing it which is good and bad. I’m a nightmare because I’m so bad at looking after it that I rarely brush it or maintain it and just stick it in a messy bun on my head and just redo that everyday until I next wash it and I think the new hair then gets tangled at the root (if that makes sense) combined with product build up so a bit of a knotty mess lol. The ends are also really frizzy so by the time I get it near to finishing there are clumps at the end that come out together. The ends of my hair are also really stringing and I feel like they are getting in the way of letting my hair do it’s thing and curl properly? I washed my hair as normal but only had hairburst shampoo and conditioner (I think I need to use my black castor oil one from Shea moisture for clarifying but I couldn’t find it) Rinsed it all out then used a Tshirt to wrap it up and then when onto the next stage, and this is where I’m struggling. Normally I would just put Moroccan oil conditioner allover, rake it through with my hands and then leave to air dry, but I can’t do that anymore as it’s too long 😩 I know you used a spray leave in conditioner and a curl creme but I’ve not used both together before so I thought I would try the conditioner as usual but apply differently and see what happens…Fail lol I didn’t think I put loads on but my hair dries out quick but also gets knotty quick so I was spraying more water like you said (not adding more product but it was just clumping together) Even after using the Tshirt to absorb some of it and adding water after to thin the product wasn’t quite working either. I did keep going though and I could see my curls trying to come through but looking back I think the conditioner is too much and I think I need to maybe dilute it in water and try that instead or change what I’m using completely as it seems too heavy now for my curls. I wasn’t going to use a cream just yet but after watching your tutorial on finer hair (although my hair is a lot curlier than your friend) …My hair seems lightweight too and the products you used didn’t weigh it down and left it looking bouncy and soft (I think it was the protein curl cream, the mousse & then the shower fix gel) The parting of the hair was fine but when it’s super long its like trying to roll up a long snake before I can clip it 😂 I managed in the end but it this next stage I found really tough. I was brushing the first section like you said but I couldn’t seem to get my curl to appear which was strange so maybe I’m doing it wrong I’m not sure? This is also where the frizzy & wispy ends get in the way because they seem to stop the curls doing what they want to do again. I was still adding water and then the gel and did all 3 sections but No matter what I did my ends weren’t cooperating 🤦🏻♀️ I did flip good though so I guess that’s a good thing!! 😂 Started drying the roots but noticed that the hair near my roots was looking quite straight & flat and I’m not sure why. I also found the gel quite sticky when blow drying which was hard but it had gone once I’d finished and maybe because I scrunched the life out of it lol. The Curlsmith gel is also very thick too so I don’t think this helped as I found it hard to distribute initially as it was pulling on my hair but I also need to work on the ‘glaze’ technique as I have old bad habits and I’m not too gentle with my hair 🙈 Drying took a LONG time 😳 and I thought my arm was gonna fall off ha ha…I wouldn’t say I have the best volume right now but I think this is down to having the right products but also perfecting the technique and probably removing some of the weight maybe? I have some lovely ringlets allover but also some random looking areas which I think went wrong and after drying my hair was quite dull so I had to put quite a lot of Morrocon oil on to make it shine again. I think I may have a few damp patches too but I surrendered the hairdryer until next time 🤣 I wouldnt say it was a total fail though and your video is so easy to follow and really helped. It’s so much easier to follow on KZbin too because you can pause it easily whilst you do each part. I will keep at it though and I think I most Definitely need to have a play around with the products and get the product mix and amounts right for my hair. And I think I may find it easier to style upright because of the length so I’m going to try that too? I also waited before I put this up because I wanted to see what my hair was like after a day or two. There is most certainly definition still and a little volume. But I have quite a heavy cast which is probably because of me using too much gel to compensate where I messed up before lol. SOOOOOOOO the question is do I….. *Try again with the watered down Moroccan Oil conditioner and the upright styling? *Switch to the products that you showed in the demo of your friend with fine curls using the protein cream, mousse & in shower gel instead? *Try something completely different? OR *Give up and just whack it back up on top of my head 😂 Thankyou again for sharing and apologies for the essay lol. I thought I would share it on here with you so that other people can see it too incase it helps them? But video wise from your side…SPOT ON!!😍 Any advice would we greatly appreciated on the bits that I mentioned in terms of the products I should use, maybe trying the upright technique to find whats right for me?? But other than that please keep doing more of these!!! 😊💖😘xXx

Hey Sophie, from your videos i know you don´t follow the curly hair method, which is fide if it works for you, and it obviously does :-). But pleeease tell in your videos what typ of hair you have...high/low porosity likes proteine/ likes moisture...and please if you sguuest products tell if they´re cgm approved and wheter its a protein product (contein protein within the first ingredients) or wheter its a moisture product (contains oils/butters, humactans like aloe vera within the first 5 ingredients). That would be so helpful. thanks 🙏

Hey! sorry for my delayed reply! Thanks for your feedback: yes I will start talking abit more about the characteristics of my hair. For ref my hair is currently 3A/3B, love protein and moisture (equal balance) medium density but fine/medium stand thickness. No idea on the porosity. But when my hair had a balayage like in this video the porosity is higher, since I have been brunette more recently i feel my porosity is more medium! x
