Hey Lloyd! I work in run specialty and am lucky enough to give a plethora of shoes a decent testing. 2 stand outs for me 1. Brooks Caldera 7, super flexible, the foam has cushion but still has great ground contact and I have decided to use them for my super technical 100 miler coming in may. (Google the stack height and I think you’ll find that very interesting). 2. The Hoka Mach 6. I went up half a size and the fit was perfect. Responsive yet cushioned and I have had almost no signs of wear after 70 miles. I’m primarily a trail runner but with trail shoes price’s always seeming to rise year after year. It’s great to see that $140 price point for road daily trainers becoming super competitive. The rebel v4/novablast/mach 6’s are all fantastic values for money.

I remember the days when Saucony dominated the channel on the road AND trail 😂 it’s cool to see how as other Brands have risen to the occasion your preference has adapted. It proves you’re not just some brand loyalist and are true to pivot wherever the best performing shoes are coming from! Well-done as always, Loyd!

I’ve never been a fan boy of any running brand. I literally just run in the shoes that work best for me! Thanks for watching and supporting the channel, proper OG! 🙏🙂

Like to Run4adventure. I prefer: Daily trainer= Nb fuelcell Rebel v4. Race day= Kinvara Pro. Trail running: Merrell agility peak 5. Have a great day.

I also have Merrell AP 5’s after the recommendation from Lloyd, love them. Also went for the Saucony Ride 15 for my daily trainer that was recommended for a budget pair. Like them so much I’ve bought another pair for £50, can’t go wrong at that price! Cheers Lloyd 👍

Fantastic video as usual Lloyd. Speaking of the NB, maybe you can make a video sharing some thoughts, son shoes, that master long distance comfort, where you meet lots of different surfaces, like compacted gravel, tarmac, and buggy single trail. I really struggle to find a shoe that at least do all of it decently. Imagine a max cushioned roadshoe, that is somewhat stabile, and that covers light trails decently. Maybe its things like the More Trail v3 with a pinch more exitement? or alike.

I’m really glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching. I’m not sure a trail shoe can be max cushioned and stable, the two things don’t really go together unfortunately 🤔

Using the Rebel v4 in my marathon training rotation. Have put about 40 miles over three runs, with a race pace run, interval run and a recovery run. Loved them for all runs. Worried about durability but at the price point (got them for 120usd), they are great.

Hey Loyd, love the channel! What shoe would you recommend for an Ultra that is half road / half trail? 24 Hours.

I’m thinking about retiring my current daily trainer for the Rebel v4. Based on the reviews it may actually fit my wide forefoot. I’m liking my Cyclone 2’s for my uptempo days and my Topo Atmos for my long days.

I've had to resort to use of the runners loop on my AP5's to get a decent heel lock-down, I still find the Saucony XU (1 or 2) lock down on my foot much better. As for road, I'm still in Saucony Speed 3, or Pro 3 as I got extra pairs when the prices reduced just before the 4s launched; but for speedier (to me) sessions, or shorter races Adidas Takumi Sen 9.

Agree with thoughts on the inov 8 branding. New stuff looks so cheap.

Lloyd good to meet you at the kvk Saturday. (Chris with the merrells). Random one but what would you say are the trail shoes with the widest midfoot you have tested. I suffer with arch blisters due to collapsed arches.

Picked up a pair of agility’s off your review and many other good ones. Taking a bit of breaking in only ran 18 miles in them so far. Up to what distance, would you feel comfortable running in them for? I’ve got my first 100k in the summer and wondering if I could use them for that. Thanks Lloyd 🤟🏼

I’m currently rotating through 4 different shoes depending on the use - road, speed road, trail, treadmill ..thank goodness for shoe mileage tracker on my watch …

I don’t run on roads so I only need 1 or 2 pair of shoes. Speedland GS series haven’t let me down, you pay for em but man they’re really the best shoe ive tried so far
@latinogar16 ай бұрын
I picked up the Merrell AP5 in that same blue and red colour and even though they feel good I just hate how they look 😂 and because of that I’ve hardly wore them 😅 the new colour ways are much better looking 😄

Surely it’s all about how the shoes feel to run in! I understand you want to like the look of the shoes you run in but it’s performance that counts 👍

Thanks for the video Lloyd. Question. I have V1 of the G270. How is the fit of the Trailfly standard compared to the 270? The G270 really fit my foot well and I'm wondering if the Trailfly standard or wide would be closest to that fit. Thanks
@Run4Adventure6 ай бұрын
No problem Stephen, thanks for watching. I’d say the standard fit new TRAILFLY offers a little bit more width in the toe box than the G270. I also got a better lock down around my midfoot with the new TRAILFLY 👍 Hope this helps!

Thanks for the update. Re the inov8, how do you find them on wet rock or slippy mud? My g300max are woeful and defeated by even slightly greasy tarmac. I’m desperately looking for something with high comfort but good grip for everything the Spine will throw at them.
@Run4Adventure5 ай бұрын
Inov8 claim that they’ve made their rubber grip better in wet conditions and so far the new TRAILFLY has performed well in the wet stuff 👍

I don't think I've bought a new pair of shoes this year, road or trail. Times are tough, I''m taking the mfrs' recommended end of life mileage, then sticking a zero on the end. 😁

Why are all inov8 shoes so ugly. It's like they try and make each new model uglier than the previous. Horrible design, they look cheaper than shoes from Lidl. I don't care how they perform. Too ugly to buy, even if they were the best shoes ever
@greigseavill6296 ай бұрын
They remind me of terrible trainers from when I was a kid. Not only are they ugly they are kind of boring as well. Even for the proper muddy stuff which they used to be great at I actually prefer the terrex speed pro sg.
