John, you make the best outdoor and kit videos. That dry bag idea is fantastic, we live in such a wet country and that will just work! The whole rain cover over the top of a rucksack doesn’t work 100%, heavy rain and water gets in, it finds a way. I’ve never considered turning a large dry bag into a rucksack. A couple of smaller dry bags on the sides and something across the top should give you tons of space 👍

So far I think it works but I have only tested it the once. You can just have the dry bag with straps but the contents of the bag then dig into your back and the weight distribution can be uneven (plus not being able to attach anything else to it). I just need to find suitable sized and shaped bags to strap to the top and sides. Keep your eyes peeled for me pal!

JRP Outdoors bicycle handlebar bags might work for the sides and top, depends on how big a bag you’re looking for. But they should strap nicely to the frame.

JRP Outdoors it suddenly struck me that you can get dry bags for handlebars. Hope you find something that works

@@d3lta1 Looking on the BTR bike website and they have loads of potential bags that could work. Couple of frame bags down each side and a handlebar bag on top. Jobs a gudden!

Backpack looks good John... I use a drybag just like it on the back of my motorbike and it’s not let me down. 👍🏻 You could try using some packing cubes inside to separate all your gear. Look forward to see how you get on with it. Cheers mate, Pete
@JRPOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
Now then Pete! I'll have a look into packaging cubes, are they rigid? Have you used them with your kit before? I also think a quick fix would be to colour code each dry bag so I know whats in what. Like a melon I bought 4 dry bags, all the same colour 😂
@AdventuRemedy4 жыл бұрын
JRP Outdoors They’re made out of material (so can mould to the shape of your bag) a rectangular shape, with a zip that runs round the outside. Usually have mesh on top, so you can see what’s inside. I use them to separate my clothes, cooking gear etc, although if you’ve already got dry bags... they pretty much do the same job (they’re not waterproof though).

:D I'll be taking it out as much as I can to give it a good test. Had it on my back for parts of my canoe trip and wasn't too bad. Just wish I had a better waist belt that was easier to adjust.

Hey Mark, Thanks for checking in again man! Yea, it's not going to be the best looking pack but it's the practical use I get out of it that I'm interested in. I'll be sure to put it through it's paces when I'm out and about!

I had the same strap when I had my LK35 I ordered it and fitted it, but my LK35 had to go... just way too heavy and uncomfortable. That's massive that dry bag, good idea, be interesting to see how much it all weighs when you've completed all the modifications. It's cool I like it 👍👍👍
@JRPOutdoors4 жыл бұрын
Aye, I think this frame is much lighter than that of the LK35 but may not be as robust. Only time will tell though. I think the next thing I need to find are the additional storage bags to fix onto the rest of the frame. Then I can weigh each part and then as a whole.
