Ryan Baker Happy to be entertaining! Yes, one sometimes must invent their own technique when one tries to tackle jobs their equipment isn't really designed for...like welding alu 1/2" plate with a 150A TIG.

Simply an amazing amount of beautiful work! Any idea how many hours you had into all of the cutting, fitting, and welding? I'm curious why you chose to piecut the whole thing? I don't think it's Ti(?), so I guess it must be just to show you could do it/make every bend exactly the way you wanted it to be. Really unbelievable!

If the prize is for the most welds, you win. It definitely looks very 'artsy'. You should know that at most only 3 sections of tubing, each with a bend of arc angle x, and straight section length l, are required to get from point on a collector to a point on the exhaust manifold. The art is generally in finding 5 sets of (x and l) solutions that result in equal length primaries, fitment in chassis, where primaries don't collide with each other, etc. There's software out there that does this automatically. I design headers for F1 and Nascar... they would never race anything with this many welds, not reliable.

Hey brownie, can you explain what the 6* block was for? I'm guessing that's how you get consistent cuts? I'm trying to learn this also. I've read a lot of people use 4.5* and 9*. I get the angle part, but is the block the key to repeatability? Awesome job, hope to hear your reply.

Awesome job, man. I'm absolutely stoked by your craftmanship. Please, let me ask you a couple of questions. Wich cup/gas lens setup you use? And, how do your avoid warpage when finish welding? The only way I could think of is using the flanges with as a fixture, and brake the tacks to the flanges once finished welding each one of the five tubes, and then permantently weld the tubes to the flanges. But honestly I have no clue if it would work or not. Keep it up, man.
@Ring112NU7 жыл бұрын
supermotardmario Yepp, notis quickly that welding on the outside first really make a big difference when it comes to warping. And I'm using a 25mm steel sink for the flange with bored hols for the purging lines for each cylinder piping.

Hi there, Absolutely the best thing I have seen so far today! I am just curios how you get into the VERY TIGHT corners on your 4 into 1 Turbo manifold with your TIG torch? After tacking the runners to the flange/collector he probbably breaks off every runner and fully welds it up.

@@nicovanduin1553 Thanks for the reply. I'm not familiar with all the terms , so am not sure what a runner is. do you perhaps have a link to such a video or web page? thanks
@nicovanduin15536 жыл бұрын
@@TheoTHERON_SA It's not that complicated, the flange is the flat piece of metal that bolts to the engine. A runner is one of the 5 tubes, which all come together at the collector. (the piece he made at the begining of the video. Hope this clears things up al little

@Ring112NU9 жыл бұрын
dohc1974 Its easy, i use a cold saw at work, and just make all my cuts at a 6 Degree angel from both sides. I don't recommend more than 6 degrees cuts, because the extreme angel it gets... (remember, all sides are cut with 6 degrees, so the total angle of 2 pieces equals 12 degrees) After that i just purged the pipe with argon and weld with.
