Awesome reaction!,😃 hi Silas's dad. 👨This is my favorite song of the album, I heard that this song was made on a dare or a remark from George Harrison to John Bonham, something about Zeppelin being able to write a ballad. so Jimmy and Robert nailed it. 🎶 Also in studio J.P.J. records the bass and keyboards separately, live he plays the bass on pedals that his keyboards have, while playing keyboards. 🎹 Another cool tune on this album is "The Ocean" 🌊 Thank you! Peace! ☮

Hey guys great reaction. This song showcases each individual member and proves why each of them was the best at their craft. Jimmys guitar playing and also the arrangement and production of the song. Roberts soulful singing, reaching a crescendo at just the right time. The ever impressive John Paul Jones playing various instruments again. Mellotron, organ, piano, bass keys. Bonzo coming in with light percussion then the thunder when it was needed. Even live on bootlegs it never loses its charm. Great reaction guys :)

This song is definitely atmospheric. It is moody, melancholy, and triumphant altogether. Another facet of the musical jewel; they never shied from continuing to use acoustic guitar, or from defying what their sound "should" be. They were more interested in pushing ever forward towards the musical horizon and creating music *they* liked. This is one that I think Alivia would truly appreciate.

As Charles mentioned below, John Paul Jones played the bass parts from the foot pedals when he was on the organ and keyboards. He of course was an adept bass player as well but if he was playing the keys the bass from the foot pedals. Of course, Geddy Lee of Rush also played the bass line with both a bass guitar and often with the pedal bass. Nice reaction from you both. Thanks!

…this is what happens when you’ve got a choirmaster-level, composer/arranger/highly polished session organist/bassist in your band. It’s like having two of the four Beatles in one man back there! This band without John Paul likely wouldn’t have ever reached their famed cruising altitude. He used a Mellotron for this song. It’s a keyboard machine that has tapes inside which can replicate many different musical sounds. Do a search on one. John Lennon used one for the opening notes of Strawberry Fields! Brian Jones used one as well, with the Stones.

In pop / rock music most tracks are less than 5 mins, Queen changed all that, their fan, top UK DJ (can’t remember his name), went to bat for them when the BBC producers saw that here new song Bohemian Rhapsody was better than 7 min they also couldn’t get to do their premier show “Top of The Pops“. The DJ said you’ve got to be here, they said they had contractual issues and couldn’t be there but what if they could send a video of their performance but only if it was full time. He fraught for their deal and they got a ad hoc production team together and sent to him and he played it on Top of The Pops. The world went wild for this the very 1st rock / Pop video in the world. And then the rest is History. Long live the Queen Legend

If you don’t like this song, and find it beautiful, there’s something wrong with you. That’s my opinion for most of the denigrators of Zeppelin’s music in general and I’m glad that people as young as you recognize the brilliance of this band, it’s great. Prince once commented on the music of Zeppelin saying that every song had a different color. It speaks to the wide diversity of sounds and styles this band extolled. They were all innovators and they had such amazing ears. It’s hard to see today how influential a band they were because they have been so heavily copied and emulated, but they wrote the blueprint; there’s no doubt about it. Btw, let’s hear it for John Paul Jones. He added so much color and diversity to their music with all his keyboard work, various stringed instruments and of course his brilliant bass playing. Zeppelin wouldn’t have been half as good without him, so underrated.

You should watch Rush in a live video to see how THREE people play the instruments of say 6 people.. Geddy Lee is the master of playing the bass with foot pedals while playing the keys/synth... or playing the bass with his hands and playing the keys with foot pedals.. Alex Lifeson does it too except he plays lead/rhythm guitar.. oh... Geddy sings while doing it all as well... and well, Neil Peart (RIP Professor) is unmatched as a drummer/percussionist and was the main lyric writer for the band. #RushArmy!

Led Zeppelin was not against using overdubs in the studio. If they needed 2 guitar parts, Jimmy would overdub the 2nd after recording the 1st and lay it over top. John Paul Jones could play keys on one track and bass on another, and mandolin on another. Billy Corgan, and Freddie Mercury, both overdubbed one hundred tracks on top of each other for songs. This is how 4 musicians can sound like a hundred in a studio. Paul McCartney and Dave Grohl can play all the instruments on the albums by recording each one separately on each track.

I enjoy your videos, but I think you guys would do so much better with these reviews/reactions if you did just a little research on the music prior to filming. So much information is available about LZ's songs, and the background, musical training, and history of the band members, there's no excuse for not knowing what instruments are used on a specific song, nor having read the lyrics for a basic understanding of what the song is about. The slightest bit of knowledge would make the listening experience better for you, and your reaction more palatable for us!
