The amount of Britishness on this channel is sickening and I can't describe how much I love it. Keep it up!

One simple reason. This little island produced the best music in history. The Beatles started it all and the bar was raised to such an extent by them that British bands responded and were inspired to make the highest quality music ever, and we've pretty much dominated ever since.

This is without doubt my favourite recordcollectors’s channel in KZbin. The commentaries of Niamh are full of good taste and humble deepness, and her dad is a great master of wisdom and a precious memory of a true survivor of the first Rock Era. Greetings from Peru and congratulations!

Love the father and daughter segments. And lots of thumbs up for Pet Sounds! If you want to fall in love with an underrated 60s classic, although a huge cult favorite for many years--check out The Zombies' Odyssey and Oracle. When I heard when I was about 21, it totally changed the way I understood popular music, because I said, this is the best record and almost no one knows about it--what does that say about pop music.

Excellent . John Coltrane to The Beach Boys. That's the way we used to music back then , everything . You've got tons of albums , try and get some of them signed. If Robin Trower comes to where you live , get an album by him, he's awesome and will sign. Alan Parson's is another . Yes, you will stand out and have to wait, but it's worth meeting these incredible musicians's .

I so love your channel. I’m 57 (58 in August) and I love hearing the views and thoughts of young people on music of the past that I grew up with in the 60s, 70s & 80s. I appreciate your humility and love for the music. The videos with your dad are fantastic as well. My first big concert was The Doors in Dec 1968 at the Los Angeles Forum when I was 5. I dont remember the music as much as I remember the brilliance of color everywhere. Thank you for all of your videos. ✌🏽

Those are all great picks, Dad, and I would add "Forever Changes" by the '60's L.A. band LOVE, considered an advanced masterpiece of songcraft, which went largely unappreciated when it was released. Happy to see your daughter carrying the torch for these amazing achievements of musical wizardry that inspired and nourished us during those tumultuous times.

Hi Niamh. Only just latched onto your channel and have been watching for the last 4 or 5 hours lol. I saw ELP on the 'Welcome' tour in '74 and although I'd seen Floyd on the 'Dark Side' tour and also Zeppelin, Purple, Sabbath etc. ELP was the best concert I ever saw (as you said with Rush, how can a 3 piece much such a massive sound). Fast forward to the '90's, I saw a band called Quango (John Wetton & Carl Palmer) at a small venue called the Robin Hood in Dudley. The stage was only about 2 feet high and when they did the 'bow' at the end of the set, I managed to shake Carl's hand. I felt like a bloody kid again lol. Just wanted to share that with you as I'm now one of your 6K+ subscribers. Awesome to go from 600 to 6000 in a matter of a week or so xx

I liked all of your dads choices - they were all very good. I was going to say what about Deja Vu by Crosby Stills Nash and Young, but it was released in 1970. However maybe Let it Bleed or Beggars Banquet by the Stones might have made it onto the list. Or even In the Court of the Crimson King by King Crimson, and not forgetting the first Leonard Cohen album. As for who invented prog - what about the Moody Blues?

I totally agree with the point about Procol Harum. Their self titled debut was the first well produced prog album. Some people throw around Electric Music for the Mind and Body, but I don't really see it. I also don't think Zappa/The Mothers of Invetion were truly prog until after Procol Harum.

These Father & Daughter videos are lots of fun to watch... keep up the good work! For older, Psychedelic Rock, check out: Mad River, Self titled 1st lp( Mad River ) from 1967. Undeniably West Coast sound with incredible twin lead guitars. If you like Quicksilver Messenger Service, this is similar. AORTA, self titled 1st LP ( Aorta ) from 1969. This is Psychedelic / Progressive music that has many styles synthesized into what is essentially a concept album. Groovy! Spirit, Self titled 1st LP (Spirit ) from 1968. This one, again is classic West Coast Psych at its best. Everything about this is great: Music, Lyrics, incredibly sophisticated LP. Jefferson Airplane, "Crown of Creation" LP from 1968. As great as their earlier record, Surrealistic Pillow was, this in many ways is as good or better. Vocals are superb! The Moody Blues, "In Search of the Lost Chord" LP from 1968. For me, this is one of the Top 10 records of the early Psychedelic / Progressive genre. A nearly perfect creation. Iron Butterfly, "Ball" LP from 1969. Followup LP to their hit LP, In a Gadda Da Vida. This record has the same heavy sound with some very soulful vocals. Not a bad song on it. Pink Floyd, " Piper At the Gates Of Dawn" LP from 1967. While in high school, I told a fellow musician that I really loved this album. He laughed and said Pink Floyd was a joke.. King Crimson, "Lizard" LP from 1970. Not entirely Psych, but out of all of this band's records, for me, this is the one that is the trippiest and is unique in their catalog. Find the 40th Anniversary Steven Wilson Remix LP, the musicianship and various musical styles elevate this record. Steven Wilson has remarked how great it is and underappreciated. Eric Burdon & the Animals, " The Twain Shall Meet" LP from 1968. English soul and pop of Burdon and his animals transplanted to West Coast Psych. Some great songs... Blue Cheer, " New, Improved!" Lp from 1969. The third record from this early Heavy Psych/Metal California band. I love side two, and you probably will too. Some awesome guitar work especially on the songs " Fruit & Icebergs" and "Peace of Mind". you should be able to find most of these on KZbin... check 'em out!

When I lived in L.A., I used to go to a tiny deli, just off Mulholland Drive. I saw Brian Wilson in there all the time. One day, we went in with my daughter and she literally sat a foot away from Brian as he ate his breakfast. I tried to impress upon her how close she was to absolute genius. Brian had an account, so when he finished eating, he just walked out of the restaurant without paying. He wore a thin Hawaiian Shirt and Bermuda shorts with no coat, even though it was February. All he ate was Raisin Bran. No coffee or juice. He would often eat in that deli 2 or 3 meals a day when he's in town. He used to eat lunch (as did I) at a wonderful pizza joint 2 doors down, before it closed. I'd see him and Johnny Ramone in there almost every time I dined there. Your father has immaculate taste.

2:55 - 'What a POET Bob Dylan is!' - so true! 5:10 - 'I saw them (the Beatles) live... but we couldn't hear them... there were too many fainting and screaming girls...' - A band which you could SEE but not HEAR properly. And as a confirmation of this, anyone can search their live performances on YT - you'll hardly hear the music because of the audience being so loud and extatic. :-)

Great albums Peter, all sixties staples. Jazz is my second love and Miles and Coltrane really got me into the classic era of jazz, all the way back to Diz and Bird, Louis Armstrong and the Duke. As to Fleetwood Mac, there is a relatively unknown era sandwiched between the blues based Peter Green and pop oriented Buckingham Nicks eras: The Bob Welch era of the early seventies; Future Games and Bare Trees are highlights.
