My Daddy 86 Silverado Finally Ready To Roll!

86 Chevy Silverado short bed with a carbed 97 vortec 350 with original turbo 350 transmission.
Well it took alot longer than I wanted but I finally got the headers whooped on my dad's 86 here and got most of the major things finished up so he can start driving it... now it's not 100% yet but not much is left and some of it is already done by the time this video goes up but hopefully yall enjoy the video and a much better drive around video will be coming eventually lol

Glad to see it again! Shout out from Hanover, PA.. That truck looks clean even when she's dirty. The first things I do to a Quadrajet is pull the secondary stop and remove the secondary butterfly pull off rod along with the diaphragm. Unnecessary.

When doing headers always put the bolt in the way front bolt in the way back, then all the middle ones go in easily. That’s how I’ve always done it

Dude you GOTTA buy a head lamp from Walmart or anywhere. The rechargeable kind are where it’s at. I got a “coast” brand one drom wal mart that has a rechargeable battery but it also takes triple a’s in case ur in a hurry and can’t wait for the battery to recharge

Forget the header gaskets. Get you a tube of red high temp rtv. Have to let it dry overnight but it will never leak or back header bolts out again. $7 for the tube and you can probably get 3 jobs out of it. Dirt racer hack.

Definitely put a breather in the passenger valve cover, if you use 2 pcv valves the crankcase won't vent right, keep the driver side pcv and put a filtered vent on the pass side. Nice to finally see the truck getting used and enjoyed.

If you can use that Lucas feel enjoyable it's a good feeling jerk the winner and the gold kind that's a lead replacement and it allows you to run 87 gas and end up with about 89 octane that should help with the painting and also keep it clear and clean but the good thing about it is you can run that stuff that gold Lucas that's always on sale the hearts out usually 2 for a 8 or something like that you can run that continually And you're gasping without hurt enough I've been a lifesaver with like my 04 Dodge Amy truck it don't like 8719 can't afford 93

A rat tail file works really well for that too that's what I learned from grandpa how to holler them holds up on noore's instead of with that rat tail file make stuff fits Chinese my part saying principle there at rat tell files save your life it's worth the 510 bucks you invest in it Harbor freight
