I’m watching this video again after my mum has just passed. I always find strength in Jonna’s videos because this is the only person I know who can find beauty in almost anything, and has a childlike sense of awe and wonder but is brave, fearless yet so human through it all. Her wonderful family is so strong, life-loving, happy and resilient. Nanook just makes me so happy just to watch. I received a small, beautiful bracelet from her jewelry shop and I was ashamed to say it was the first time I could cry properly after my mum passed yesterday after a very short cancer battle. "This is how a healthy winter looks like" EXACTLY!! You are speaking directly out of my heart. Where I live in Germany we didn't have any snow or really cold days in the last couple of winters. But this winter it finally snowed again and the Temperatures are way below 0 degree C but sooo many ppl are constantly complaining about the cold weather. And when I hear them complaining I always think to myself how said that is. I can only speak for myself but the only thing making me sad is a warm winter due to the climate change!! This fully normal winter is a welcome change, even though it unfortunately doesn't mean that we don't still have climate change....

@CarolinvonPetzholdt3 жыл бұрын
@@lizvandermerwe640 you have no idea how cold it is with -31 Celsius. The cold will eat your hands. Your fingers. Your toes. Your nose. Your ears. Everything is so cold that you can’t even move. Growing up in Germany it can go to -15 Celsius and trust me. It’s awful. Naturally I don’t like cold because the cold a horrible feeling. In LA last summer we had 48 Celsius and it was the other extreme where all my pants and trees in my garden got burned by the sun. And my solar lights got melted and broke. This was the first time I have experienced extreme heat and that was awful as well. You can breath outside and I was very worried about the wild birds. But if I need to choose between extreme hot vs extreme cold I work definitely choose hot weather. With hot weather I can go in my Hause and have the AC on all day. With cold weather I need to decide which room i need to heat to be cozy. And always sit in front of the heater.

To be honest I think we all would resemble this if we went back to living from nature as she does. What you see as being this supernatural primal instincts is just human beings in their natural environment. Sadly not many of us live life like this anymore, many don't step out in nature for months, they just see it as a 'get away'. I think it's kind of sad that we're so removed from nature now that people like this are the exceptions.

I get it how for first world these seem like problems. But try coming to a soviet country and how winters is without a car, no driking water and no sewerage. People have a hole in the ground and that is the toilet. And not because they don't want to live well, but this is how the government treats people and people even if they work, can barely make up month to month. This is how a tough winter is. And old people trying to make up month to month with an income of 80 dollars. I am sorry to say that, but this in the video is not a tough life. I am going through a really difficult time in my life, I am 26 years old from the US and since I was like 15 years old, my heart felt empty growing up in a big city. I hope to one day be able to move away from the US and to the North of Sweden and just like you live a life of peace and pure happiness surrounded by beautiful family. I am also 26 with children -- a family. And I feel entirely the same way. So much so, I've started looking into alternate, artistic career paths instead of these typical 9-5 jobs in the US. I'm not the best writer or anywhere near as some incredible folks, but im not terrible either, so I have a sliver of hope that maybe, just maybe, I can eventually start making enough money from writing. Whether that will be content writing, blogging, both, or something, SOMETHING... so that I can go anywhere I want to the north with my family. This typical life that I feel surrounded by, it just isn't for me. I want to be, I long to be, closer to nature and to have these "hardships" that make a simple, yet genuine, and honest days work. The only thing, is I don't know if my family will want to come with me to the north where it is cold and life is much different. And if they don't, I'll have to make a terribly difficult choice on whether to live my passion, or to stay here in the US living a life that doesn't feel meaningful to me. I guess there is always Alaska, but its also cold and different from what my family, and I, have ever experienced... but I know in my heart, that it is what I want. Jeffrey, I hope we both find our path and find what we both feel are missing. I wish you the very best in everything to come.
