i understand why you are waiting to let Lilia share more on social media. coming from someone who went through the same thing she is right now, i identify totally different. not saying it’s a phase or anything but just let her grow with who she is and then share. because i understand how it can be embarrassing saying something when you were a kid and thinking different later

Nobody is the same person as when they were 13. I agree with your comment. Most people change and grow. I was one of those people. I would have been mortified to announce this on social media as a child. It would have pressured me to continue it. It’s the same with the vegan community and how some switch back to eating meat and getting shunned. People change. It’s okay. Just don’t announce it unless you’re deeply rooted…

FIRST OFF…. I love you!!! I love how you are so supportive of your kids. So many parents try to “change” their kids minds or tell them “no, you’re just going through puberty and you don’t know how to handle your hormones.” Dismissive. And it’s been so harmful to so many young people, even to the point of those young people wanting to take their life. The fact that you’re 100% supportive of your daughter will keep that line of communication open IF (and I’m not saying she will) she ever decides to change her mind. She’s learning about who she is, you’re learning about who she is… and in a SAFE and encouraging environment. We love a healthy parent-daughter relationship! And if you are reading this and don’t support or are upset about them sharing…. Maybe it’s time to move on and find other KZbinrs you align more with. Jess and her fam aren’t going to stop sharing who they are and their journey just because you might be offended. Which you have the right to be if you want, but you don’t have the right to leave nasty comments. Rant over ❤

It's way past my bed time so maybe that's why I'm in such a silly mood. My daughter didn't really ever "come out". She always had boyfriends until she was about 25 then one day she just introduced the family to her girlfriend without ever mentioning that she was gay beforehand. No one blinked an eye. They dated for several months & it didn't work out & now has a different girlfriend. As long as she is happy & being treated right, then that is all we care about.

Hey Jess! I just wanted you to be aware about something if Lilia decides to cut her hair short. I’m not trying to steer her away from it, but it’s definitely something to think about before doing it. When I was 13 I had decided that I wanted to cut my hair super short after it was a little over half way down my back. I went to the hairstylist and got it cut and shaved. Size 3 or 4 on the top and 2 on the sides. It has been 2 years and 3 months and my hair is just now getting to be around shoulder length. I used to have rapidly growing hair and all of a sudden it started slowing down… I just want you to be aware because 1 3/4 years later, I started to regret cutting my hair. I still regret it because even though I liked it for the first year and 3/4 and it saved me from the hour of brushing every morning, I’d really like it to be long again. Its definitely a tough decision and I do think you guys should really talk about it before doing it. You probably already have discussed it because you’re a great mom and I wouldn’t doubt that you consider every option before doing something. It’s just a little thing to think about before doing it. If you read this, thank you for your time :) If she does decide to cut it, I bet it will look great!

I went through this situation when my daughter was 10. She was dealing with mental health issues and she thought she was trans. She is now 13 and is a little embarrassed of that time in her life. She was pressured by friends and social media to be someone..to pick a group...to be part of something! I was very supportive along the way but cautiously. I am glad I was supportive of that time in her life but also glad I let her become her true self with no pressure from me. I don't think it's a good idea to put kids out here on the internet for the world to see and judge. My daughter would be mortified if I had put her out there like this.

what do you mean "change her mind"? sexuality is not a choice.
@kierstenhendricks2153 Жыл бұрын
@@gabsbi07 you're right it isn't a choice but SOMETIMES people especially young people are trying to figure out who they are and it can be safer to not give out information on things like their sexuality in case they haven't really figured it out which it's possible they haven't. I'm not saying she'd ever "change her mind" but I've had friends my whole life that believed they were straight, gay, bi what have you and then later realized who they really were and I can imagine it would be annoying to have to come out multiple times throughout your life and correct what you told people before if things did change especially if you're trying to correct what you said as young as 12. I think its always safer for people to be so open about any sexuality once that person has at least hit an age closer to adulthood.

@kierstenhendricks2153 Жыл бұрын
@@gabsbi07 no I know kids are self aware I'm saying anyone is still trying to find themselves and who they are at that age and even until much later, I mean people's brains don't even develop until like their mid twenties I'm not saying kids don't know what they're saying its just unfortunately more dangerous for someone who is 12 compared to someone who's like 22 to be open about their sexuality and it can open them up to a lot of criticism and vulnerability

As a mother to a 13 year old girl…let me tell you THESE KIDS CHANGE THEIR MINDS LIKE THEY CHANGE THEIR UNDERWEAR!!!! Literally all of my daughters friends claim to be bisexual. My daughter claimed to be omnisexual but then came to the realization she didn’t like girls in an intimate way. Just thinks they are pretty. But she goes back and forth about being bi and being straight. It honestly seems like it’s the IT thing to be right now

What I'm saying is that the media, social media, Hollywood, everywhere are the problem. They are confusing these kids and making being gay + being the "cool thing".

I support Lilia 100% and I love how ur supportive of ur kids Jess, I just want to say to try not to post about her sexuality too early since she might still be figuring out who she is and she might not feel the same way about how she views herself or her sexuality later on in her life. I fully support her and her decisions to talk about who she is but being her age I wouldn’t want people to possibly tease her or make fun of her considering how it could affect her mental health. Just want to make sure she feels good about who she is and is proud of herself. So proud of you Lilia!

Jess, I'm not surprised by your acceptance and encouragement for Lilia and all your kids. I don't like labels either. My first relationship was with a girl around 12 yrs old. I'm happily married to a guy 18 yr my senior and have 3 wonderful kids. My oldest son is gay and proud of it. I always knew he was so when he came out to us, I just said I know and I still love you. I abhor parents who disown or turn against their kids just because they didn't turn out how the parents wanted. My oldest was a very girly-girl when she was young; now she's mostly non-binary and I still love her too. I'm disappointed (quietly) that we'll never dress up alike or that I may not get grandkids from either of them, but that doesn't matter in the long run. What matters is them; their life, their choices.

I am so in love with you and your family. My twin brother came out 30 yrs ago while we were in high school and when he did, my mom was confused about it but then after talking to him about it she accepted him. My dad on the other hand disowned him and they didn't speak for almost 10 yrs. He was so angry. My mom told my dad he needed to talk with my brother because it wasn't right to treat him the way he was. After they talked they now have the best relationship ever. He missed out on so much of my brothers life and when he really needed both of his parents there by his side. With that being said I thank you for letting Lilia be herself and standing behind her 1000%. I'm not saying she will but even if she changes she will always know you have her back. I love you for that. So mom to mom thank you. I also have 3 of my 4 children apart of the LGBTQ+ community. And I will always stand behind them no matter what.

The key here with Lilia is that she knows she has a voice and she is unapologetic about it and Jess and fam make it so her voice is a normal everyday thing. So it's not traumatic each time. She doesn't have to hide. And so having that normalcy and acceptance is so important to girls and boys her age. I have 2 boys 21and 13 and I would live them the same either way. My mom was extremely racist and judgemental and not sure how I'm not but I accept everyone. I feel like Im an in the closet bisexual, but that's ok. I just am in awe of you all. And what's awesome is that if she wants something different then she can. Kudos Jess Fam.
