Wow! I’ve had a similar experience with my daughter- the “Where is this attitude coming from?” And another mother saying how we parents can help guide our children and not rely on the school system to give them what we hope to see. Praise God for your testimony and your sharing of it❤.

The Good and The Beautiful book list is amazing! I am so grateful for all the hard work that has been done for me. I honestly don't know what I would do. I've always appreciated good literature. We love TGATB book list! My 10 year old will want to read a book and we check the list first. If we don't see it we preview the book. She is learning to figure out if it is good or not. We just started HS this year but my daughters and I love TGATB curriculum. Thank you so much for doing all you have done.

Just downloaded your booklist today can’t wait to start going through them. My girls are 5 and I’ve already noticed their behavior and words are reflected a lot in the things I read to them. Even things that aren’t really bad. (Like this month they’ve decided they’re scared of the dark after a book about a baby bear being scared of the dark and eventually just sleeping with grandpa bear. Guess who’s co-sleeping again after all these years? Lol 💁🏻‍♀️) But it’s nice that you’ve already done the work for me on the other things I don’t want them to pick up on. I’ve noticed so much snarky attitude in the most recommended books for their age that I couldn’t bring myself to read them aloud without adding my own commentary on each page. No fun

I had a similar thing happen to my oldest nearly 13 years ago (already). She had always been so kind, respectful, and grateful. Then one day she talked very rudely to me. She was 3 or 4. I wondered where it came from. I'm glad I didn't push it to "she's growing up and that is just what happens." It was so out of character for her. Then one day I was in another room as she was watching a show we had just snagged at the DI :) and the same tone and words came from that show! I couldn't believe how fast she picked up the negatives too. We tossed that and are so grateful to have learned early that we should, "Choose wisely when using media because whatever you read, listen to, or look at has an effect on you. I have been using your book list to reserve books at the library for pick up. It has been very helpful as the children's section where we live has some pretty questionable content. I don't feel like I can turn my kids loose to pick a stack of books the way I used to.

Just discovered your book list recently and oh, how much easier you have made my life. I am discovering the same exact situation with my 7 year old. It's insane how much this effects kids. What are your thoughts on Sophie Mouse series and Owl Diaries series? I am starting to regret not looking more closely at even these seemingly innocent series.

I was an avid reader when I was in my teens and I would read the books from my school library. I can’t tell you how many books I’ve read where the main character has food disorders, sex with older men or attempted suicide. Little did I know, I reproduced every single things before the age of 15. When I watched your videos it clicked in my head. Bad literature caused my so call mental illnesses when I was a teen. I don’t even know how bad tv shows are influencing teenagers nowadays. I’m glad I found Jesus in my 20s.

Can anyone tell me how different the new curriculum is to the old?…last year I bought ahead the curriculum and don’t know if I should get the new stuff , the problem is that it’s all sold out too so wondering if anyone knows when the new stuff will be stocked up again?

How much did you pay her to read the books? And did you pay her after she finished a book or each time she read a certain amount of time? I didn’t know Thomas Edison’s mom did that! I couldn’t find that info.

You may want to consider your budget, the speed at which your child reads, and whether your child is best motivated by paying per book or for time spent reading.
