The way the little girl reacted to her dad is the same way most women that are in abusive relationships act. They do what ever they can to please their man and make him happy so that he wont get angry and hurt them. It's sad that she had to learn to adapt like that at a young age. No little girl or women should ever fell this way. I hope hey really fix their relationship or get a divorce.

GhiraLink Men are biologically stronger than women and culturally the 'head of the household' because of it; far more women end up being the ones heavily abused in the relationship when it goes wrong. There are cases where men are abused by their wives/girlfriends, but they are not 'many many'. It's much less common, but it isn't any less depressing. Abusive relationships like these rarely get better; the best way is to walk out when you get the chance. Children are a strong reason to be tied down, find yourself trapped. I hope this one finds its way. The children here are my greatest concern, as they are likely to struggle from this experience. The toll of being raised from broken homes takes on children is never a good one.

Peachypink짜니 I'm sorry you had to go through that. You and your mother must've gone through hell because of it. I had a good father, he never abused me in any way, shape or form. I feel very lucky because it. Having a loving relationship with your parents throughout childhood and adulthood is such an important bond, it saddens me seeing the people in the comment section, like you, talking about their own experiences with abuse in their own homes. Best wishes to you and your family.

Peachypink짜니 I can lowkey relate to that ;( just about a month ago I was in a very bad mood so I went outside my house and I just wanted a walk so my parents especially my dad, he pulled me in took me upstairs my mother came running in I tried to espcape but they were pulled me my mother pulled me by my hair and she was trying to choke me, I screamed for help so my family helped me get out and also my dad broke the door when I tried to keep it shut. After all that happen my family blamed everything on me, they said I was possessed by the devil and they kept insulting me. The next day I was forced to hug my parents when I really didn’t want to. they called me weird because I wouldn’t hug my parents, if only they understood how people who’ve gone through this felt. I’m really sorry for what happened to you I really hope your relationship with your dad he’s better.

That would be really heartbreaking for both the mom and dad. I hope they can work things out. Its never okay to fight in front of the kids, that could really be traumatic depending on how they fight. When there's an issue with a child, I never blame them. I believe no one should. People are the way they are because of their environment. Kids mostly learn from what they see rather than what they are told, so I'm not surprised the mom is getting disrespected since their dad doesn't show her respect. I hope they learned from this and provide a healthier environment for their children to grow up in.

I was the same as I child because when you witness violence from your parent early on especially as a toddler you tend to split them into two different people the good one and the bad one as you grow you'll realize they're the same person but you also learn what to do and how to act to not let that bad person emerge. I grew up with my first words being "dada" I was called a daddies girl I got spoiled everyone in surface know my dad loves me but my first memories were of my dads violence towards my mother and him being drunk. At first I was such a good child but then when the violence did not stop I became violent as well as a coping mechanism. At 16 I was diagnosed with Clinical depression and PTSD I was in treatment when the strongest of drugs used to treat adults because I also had really bad sleeping problems such as night terrors and insomnia and at 18 was diagnosed with Boderline Personality Disorder and Bipolar 2. Children soak up experiences and childhood trauma like a sponge and it's those that shape them as a person but they'd end up blaming themselves anyways.

I’m 22 now, and I still remember my parents fighting a lot when I was a kid. My dad was really verbally abusive, and when he was angry, he yelled and screamed at my mom. My dad was the nicest guy until you pissed him off. My mom tried so hard to hide that from us as kids, but there are a few instances when we would see stuff. I have younger sisters and a brother, and there were occasions where I would take care of them and send them to play outside or on the other side of the house because of the arguments. I was only 10 or 11, but I was seriously protective of them, to the point where my mom started to get worried about me. When I was 15, she told my dad to fix himself or never come back home. And I swear, he did a complete 180. I have never seen him argue with my mom since then, and he spends every day trying to make up for all the stuff he did before. I also feel bad that he feels like he needs to spend every day repenting, but it’s just how he feels he needs to be. I’ve never seen my parents happier than they are now. It takes confrontation and realizing that there are consequences to your actions, but change is possible for this dad. He realized it early on, at least.

Ah, this made me cry like a baby. As someone who comes from a household with an abusive father, this absolutely broke my heart. The little girl really was just trying to survive, even though children should never have to “survive” anything. Nothing like this should ever happen to anybody and the fact that it does, all the time in fact, hurts me so fucking much. I hope the mother and her children are able to get away from that clearly abusive man and that they are able to heal. The effects abuse has on a person, especially a child, will never truly go away, but I pray with everything in me that it at least gets a little bit better for them. God bless them.

That twist actually shocked me. Poor baby! But at the end it seems like things will turn around. Because Dad loves his daughter a lot and he sees (hopefully) the error of his ways, I think they will work towards being more communicative towards each other. Also, Jo Ahye is literally the best name ever, so pretty.

From what I saw in korean shows, drama, etc. The parents always asking their child in a young age to pick who's the best "mom" or "dad" maybe that's why a lot of Koreans kids prefer one of the parents that loving both.

Date longer than 6 months; these people were not very smart there. I think two years is a good time frame to shoot for. Have ACTUAL long conversations about the tough things, like finances, how to handle disagreements, and how to raise kids. You'll do fine, as long as you find someone equally dedicated and willing to work at it. Marriage is not easy. I tell my daughter be willing to walk away before or during an engagement period if you find someone is not compatible with your beliefs. Even if you think you love them. There are others you can find that you'll love that will be a better match for marriage and raising children. To be honest, I think the more respect you have for other people; the better marriage material you are, and the same is true in your potential spouse.

lmao I’m Korean American and my parents and I were in a really similar situation. (tw: abuse) My dad would never give me rides to school and barely spent any time with me while my mom did everything despite her also having a full time job. Since they were immigrants, they had extra stress out on them as well. Whenever they fought, I was scared one of them might even kill the other. My mom would provoke my dad endlessly over the most useless things and my dad would get angry very quickly and break stuff around the house to vent out his anger. Sometimes he would push her if she annoyed him too much. I would be in my room or the bathroom, hearing my parents fight. I was terrified, and even if I wanted to jump in to stop my dad from hurting my mom, I couldn’t. I don’t understand why they didn’t divorce. What use is it keeping up a family if it’s just a facade? Why put children through such unnecessary turmoil? My mom was really hard on me and forced me to take extra lessons and go to tutoring nearly every day. She would hit and scold me all the time, to the point where I couldn’t stop crying because I was so afraid. There were so many times with her that I thought she would actually live up to her words and kill me, or herself. She dragged me by my hair, punched my stomache/rib area, suffocated me, etc. This went on for my entire life, but it’s gotten a bit better since my little brother was born. I despise that they had me during such a tumultuous time and that they never considered going to therapy at all. When she left marks on my arm, my mom would make me cover them up in long sleeves and make me promise not to tell anyone. I would get scolded whenever I cried because my parents were afraid of getting the police called on them. Similar to the couple in this video, we would always pretend to be the perfect little family on the outside. I hated when my parents put on their fake outside voices and I always hated when my parents sounded happy for some odd reason. Even when my mom was scolding me the previous second, I felt pressured to pretend nothing had happened in front of other people because that’s what I’d learned to do. When I was younger, my mom and I would fight nearly everyday, and I remember most of my home life as crying in my room. She would comfort me after a bit, promise not to do that again, and then go on to abuse me the next day, over and over. If they knew what they were doing was so wrong, why didn’t they actively try to fix themselves and go to family therapy? Why did they never stop when I cried out of desperation and fear for them to do so?? I constantly question why they didn’t do things differently if I’m as precious to them as they say I am.
