Cissy Foster Sometimes I feel like killing them! But... I'd have to bury the body... too much work... ROFL! Today the weather has been cool and a slight breeze. The rabbits have been leaping and jumping and having a ball. Whoever said rabbits were quiet!?

TY for posting the quick release knot. I have used that knot occasionally when my latches on old hen houses would break and I didn't realize it had a name. Haha! Your laugh is hysterical and infectious. That's a good thing. I love your cats, dogs, bunnies and especially the goats. I'd like to have a couple goats of my own one day, and I do realize the amount of work involved in caring for goats but it is rewarding in the end. I already have four dogs (one is a high maintenance Great Pyrenees) and two kitties! This year I am growing red and gold tomatoes, and sweet Spanish onions. - I hail from North Carolina btw.

Thanks for another wonderful informative and entertaining video ! You have inspired me, I am looking for a house with a couple of acres, hope I find what I want. You have taught me so much ! Thanks. Jan in Indiana

***** Thanks, Jan! Keep me informed about what you find and where. You'll love the life but it takes getting used to. It's a lot of work; you struggle with most everything, your hands and arms will be cut and bleeding, your muscles will ache every night, you'll do without so the critters can have, and you'll so love your life you won't be able to figure out why the heck you didn't do it years ago!

Susan Rogers I've about got to cut that apple tree in half. Some are saying it's okay, but I don't know. Heck, it's not like it's giving much fruit now. I may as well whack away at it and see what happens!

Busy, busy, busy : ) That goat is just so cute!!!! LOL.... My grandpa had an apple tree once he though was about dead and he cut it way back. It came back to life and was so full and beautiful and full of apples. I would wait till fall when the leaves drop before cutting it back though :)
@OneWomanAndTwoAcres9 жыл бұрын
She Wolf Good to know! Okay, I'll wait. When I do cut it the rabbits are going to love chewing on the apple wood!
@LadySheWolfWitch9 жыл бұрын
You can always sell some of it Mel. Apple wood is expensive and people but it to use when smoking meat. I love the stuff. The last bag of apple wood chips I bought cost me about seven bucks. The same with hickory wood chips. Just something for you to keep in mind before the bunnies shred it all. Sell it, money is money honey :) LOL
@OneWomanAndTwoAcres9 жыл бұрын
For apple wood?! That's amazing. I'll definitely sell some of it then. The bunnies need a little, though. They're just too cute! LOL!
@LadySheWolfWitch9 жыл бұрын
LOL, yeah for apple wood. It's expensive. People use it in smokers and to BBQ and in smoke houses. Haven't you ever had apple wood smoked bacon? So good... LOL I get it at the grocery when its on sale when I can I afford it. You can check Amazon. They have it for sale for anywhere from 6 to 30 dollars a bag.

I am pretty sure you prune apple trees from the middle, I bet you can find a DIY on You Tube for pruning apple trees. Don't forget to mound up your dirt around the bush beans, I forgot to last year and wind bent them over. Blessings and Take Care
@OneWomanAndTwoAcres9 жыл бұрын
karenchakey Thanks, Karen. I'm going to be doing a search today about it. Very little wind hits my garden. I have a barn on one side and loads of trees on the other. The wind was really kicking up with yesterdays storm and the leaves of the plants out there were barely moving! I guess I lucked out!

the tender leaves on the beets are delicious in a salad. You want to make sure that when the beets grow the top of the root is not exposed, you may have to cover it with a bit of dirt. If you pull them up when they are about the size of large golf balls they are delicious boiled then eaten with butter, if they are larger they make great pickled beet slices, if they get too large they are woody and not as sweet, I will eat them because I love beets but I really prefer baby beets. If you get a chance look at stirrup hoes (if you don't have one already). I use mine in the garden and bought a second one to use in my decorative gravel, it glides over the landscape fabric and pulls weeds out of the gravel, roots and all.
@OneWomanAndTwoAcres9 жыл бұрын
Lyn Llinse Thanks, Lyn! I actually don't eat beats but I understand animals love them. This lot was an experiment to see how they grow. I've seen those hoes. They seem to work great. Can't afford anything at all these days so it's all hand work from here!

On your drains put a half cup of baking soda and then pour vinegar down the drain once a month and you will notice a great difference and does not hurt the septic system.

Nice Vid, Mel. I love watching other people work! I'll have to reciprocate soon with a similar video for you. I have 3 YOUNG apple trees with ZERO apples on them, so you're ahead of me there! My Asian pear does have 5 pears growing, and that makes me happy. I do believe you can severely cut back the apple tree (even main leader branch if you want to open it up). Paul Gautche seems to do that a lot. He says to trim the apple tree so you can throw a cat through it, then it grows back and fruits.
@OneWomanAndTwoAcres9 жыл бұрын
Susan Galuski I'm going to cut that sucker this autumn. I want to take down some trees around it, too. I'll have to get a cat to volunteer to be an apple tree gauge!

Hi Mel. Praxxus55712 has a video "Pruning apple trees for better production". Also, Dave Wilson Nursery has videos on fruit tree pruning. You might find these helpful. Btw, my Mom had cravings for Bing Cherries when she was pregnant with me and I'm a November baby. So it took my Dad forever to find them for her and he paid alot for them. And I love Bing Cherries. :)

Lydia Behar This is a lot more than pruning. I want to chop off the whole top! I'm going to be researching it and I'll definitely do a video of that madness! Funny how we love the food our mother's craved!
